After uploading images from a card reader to LR 4.1 and 4.2, the option to review large images is present for the first 10-20 photo, then LR preview will only display a small image (the size of a thumbnail.). I can uplaod all the images from preview to the LR catalog. But then I have to go into the catalog and delete unwanted images.
View 5 RepliesDownloaded Gimp last night, and when I opened up to view the images, I see only a list, not thumbnails. Gotta have thumbnails to see what exactly I'm looking at, regardless whether the images are named or numbered. don't Gimp have that option to change the viewing mode, like Windows?
I have Windows 7 (64 bit).
Photos I am trying to import have the same image number as photos already in LR3 catalog. What do I do....allowing duplications isn't working already tried that.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an folder with approx 500 photos that have been optimised in the Develop module (aspect ratio set at AS SHOT) and exported to photo lab for 2 x 3 prints. Now I need to use these same images for a slideshow and set an aspect ratio of 16 x 9 1920 x 1080 for viewing on HD Television. I do not want to change the AS SHOT aspect ratio of these images in the current folder. so first, this means I need to make a copy of this folder within Lightroom and second, change the aspect ratio to 16 x 9 for all images at the Quick develop module and complete in the slideshow module. The second part is no problem but how do you "copy" a folder of images in Lightroom OR alternatively can you make a virtual copy of a folder?

I used to be able to import pics from my camera into a specific folder on my hard drive. That was until 2 weeks ago. Now my only choice is to import into the folders below. C. drive - where all my digi camera pics are - is no longer there. How do I get L/R import to recognize my hard drive again.
Lightroom will not display preview images during import of raw images. Any images in other formats display fine but with raw images I get a gray window the size of the preview image and the words "preview unavailable for this file".

I'd like to resize a large batch of images to a more manageable size. I shoot a lot of weddings and find when shooting with my Nikon D800, the files are enormous when shooting Raw. Until now I would export all my vertical images first to a folder and then the horizontal ones and then resize in photoshop to say 11x17. Is there a way to resize ALL my images before I even bring them into photoshop? I'd like to resize them all (both vert and horizontal images) at one time. If I select the batch of images I'd like to resize, and them click export, it takes me to a menu which gives me the option to resize. I just don't know what settings I should use? Can I just click width and height and punch in say 11x17 and leave it at 300dpi? I want to preserve the aulaity for print purposes but reduce the file size so it's manageable for both my client and me when I then go into Photoshop to edit.

is there a special setting / workaround to avoid this (user-unfriendly behavior) ?
Being an architectural photographer I create a lot of layered files with many exposures with different lights on and daylight separately. I always save my layered files in a folder called Layered files in the project. I also save flattened 8 bit Tif's at full resolution for my client as a print file in a separate folder along with another folder for web and device optimized files. When my client opens some of my flattened files they tell me the only see one layer. When I open some of them in Preview I get the same result. I only see the last layer I put into my layered file. But when I open the same photo in Bridge I see the full flattened file as I saved it. What can I do about that?
View 3 Replies View RelatedExporting large file sizes. In short I'm trying to export some images for large format printing but am having trouble preparing the right size in LR4.
Specifically I'm trying to produce w 30" x h 20" images. I understand that to do this I'll need a image that is 9000 x 6000 pixels set at 300 ppi. My problem is that when I export this, with the dimensions set to width and height in pixels and resize unchecked LR4 produces an image that is 9000 x 4887?
what i'm doing wrong here? Is it simply that the aspect ratio of image is wrong to produce this size image? My concern is not producing an exact file size for printing.
Using Lightroom 4.3 on OS X 10.7.5 (Mac Pro with 24GB of RAM) I'm having problems stacking sets of images. The groups of images I'm stacking can range from 50 to 1400. No matter the size, stacking a group of images stalls and I have to quit Lightroom. At best I'll stack one group, quit, restart and move on to the next group. The stack doesn't show before quiting, but appears to be stacked on restart. If I'm lucky I can get a few sets of images stacked before things devolve into this dysfuncitonal cycle of stacking, quiting LR, opening LR, confirming stack is complete and stackin a new set of images. Is this a known bug? Any fixes to get past this? I'm working through 15000+ images to edit and organize for a project of mine. The total image total is higher, but I've stopped collecting images in LR for this project until I sort out this problem.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm a new LR5 user,When you create a new LR Catalog (whether images are stored local or on a NAS) LR also creates a '...Previews.lrdata' file. I think for storing the previews of the images in the corresponding Catalog file for fast(er) searching in Library mode.But when you open that catalog (and in Library mode) it looks/seems like LR is not using these previews at all. Sometimes it can take a lot of time when LR has updated (?) all image previews, especially when the originals are stored on a NAS. It looks like LR is rebuilding all previews.
Is this common, or is it some setting in LR to use or rebuild the (previously) generated previews.And does creating Smart Previews have any effect on this?

I have created 2 web galleries--one html and one Flash. I saved them to my local drive and they work perfectly. Then I uploaded to our server (I checked to see that all folders/files made it, and they did) and then when I access the index.html file, neither the thumbnails or the full-size images show. My catalog in Lightroom 4 is spread over several hard drives and broken into years, with subfolders holding each seperate shoot. I recently replaced the harddrive that only held 2009 with a 3TB drive that should be able to accomodate 2010,2011 and 2012. I would like to move those files onto that drive within Lightroom so that it tracks where they are.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I import images I cannot see them in the previews. I have set 1:1, standard, and minimal but it makes no difference. The images show as grey in the preview. When I go to the develop modual I can see the image I select but if I select another image the first goes gray again. For some reason I cannot render previews. Have I turned something off or on? Can I render previews after importing images? The files show up as DNG in my hard drive.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIf I import the files from the camera disk directly into LR4, I sometimes get vertical streaks on the preview images.
Yet if I go to develop mode, the picture loses its streaks by merely entering and exiting crop mode without changing the image size.
If I import them from the pictures folder after they were imported through another program, I haven't had any issues. Go figure!
I use print preview in Lightroom 4. I also print a lot of landscapes. When I hit print and go to print preview, all my images are turned on end which makes review difficult. Is there a way to view them as they should be, landscape. In Lightroom, everything is set to landscape and in the printer module, it is all set to landscape. Just in print preview, they are turned on end.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been running on LR4 for about 2 weeks with no issues until last night when, for some reason, it would not allow me to rename my photos. I had been renaming photos almost every day since I got LR4 and this issue just popped up out of nowhere yesterday.
'Some Photos Will Not Be Renamed Because They Are Missing Or Not Writable' is the saying that pops up. But the files aren't missing and not sure why they aren't writable.
While exporting photos, it is not allowing me to resize them during the export process. It is faded and won't let me click it.

I am using lightroom 4.1 64 bit.
I'm trying to import some photos but when I tried to find them LR doesn't allow me to see the sub-folders where I put them. I shows all the 1,000s of photos in the top level folder but when I click the triangle, it turns on its side but it doesn't reveal the sub-folders (see screen grab, Samsung is the folder I'm trying to access).
View 4 Replies View RelatedPutting a book together with the LR4 book module - incredibly my first time as a) have been too used to iPhoto books, and b) have been negligent in making books PERIOD. That aside I just want to make sure I am interpreting the Page Bleed guides correctly. If I understand properly displaying the Page Bleed shows the area of the image that will be chopped off during book production to produce a nice, clean full bleed final product. And so to that end with the Page Bleed guides active I should ensure that any image detail that I want to ensure does NOT get clipped should be INSIDE those bleed guides.
I'd hate to go through all this, spend the money and time, and realize too late I blew it.
