If I import the files from the camera disk directly into LR4, I sometimes get vertical streaks on the preview images.
Yet if I go to develop mode, the picture loses its streaks by merely entering and exiting crop mode without changing the image size.
If I import them from the pictures folder after they were imported through another program, I haven't had any issues. Go figure!
How do I eliminate vertical streaks in a printed picture?
View 3 Replies View RelatedLightroom will not display preview images during import of raw images. Any images in other formats display fine but with raw images I get a gray window the size of the preview image and the words "preview unavailable for this file".
Running Windows XP 64, Lightroom 3.3.
To prepare the imges for my blog, it has to be 600(width) x 900 (height) for vertical images, and 600(width) x 400(height) for horizontal images. That way the images lineup when they appear on my blog. Is there a way to achieve both dimensions with one export command?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm a new LR5 user,When you create a new LR Catalog (whether images are stored local or on a NAS) LR also creates a '...Previews.lrdata' file. I think for storing the previews of the images in the corresponding Catalog file for fast(er) searching in Library mode.But when you open that catalog (and in Library mode) it looks/seems like LR is not using these previews at all. Sometimes it can take a lot of time when LR has updated (?) all image previews, especially when the originals are stored on a NAS. It looks like LR is rebuilding all previews.
Is this common, or is it some setting in LR to use or rebuild the (previously) generated previews.And does creating Smart Previews have any effect on this?

No Preview images appear .. when I press the import button ALL of the images in a folder on an external hard drive are imported .. They appear as they Import
before I upgrade to LR4 I really want to resolve this issue. I have seen on other posting how a similar issue has been resolved on PC/Windows .
When I import images I cannot see them in the previews. I have set 1:1, standard, and minimal but it makes no difference. The images show as grey in the preview. When I go to the develop modual I can see the image I select but if I select another image the first goes gray again. For some reason I cannot render previews. Have I turned something off or on? Can I render previews after importing images? The files show up as DNG in my hard drive.

When I hit print and go to print preview, all my images are turned on end which makes review difficult. Is there a way to view them as they should be, landscape. In Lightroom, everything is set to landscape and in the printer module, it is all set to landscape. Just in print preview, they are turned on end.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a Nikon D7100. I took some test shots and imported the images to Lightroom 4.4, then generated 1:1 previews for all the images.
Previews zoomed to 1:1 in Library Mode are noticeably soft. The image below is a screen shot of the Library preview:
Moving to Develop View produces a higher-resolution 1:1 preview. The image below is a screen shot of the Develop preview:
Look at the bricks and window screens to see the difference.
This difference occurs immediately after import (with a User Preset applied during import). Once any Develop work is done, the Library preview updates and displays at full resolution.
This problem makes doing initial editing/selection of images time consuming, because I can't determine the sharpness/quality of imported images until I've done some kind of Develop adjustment on each image.
I am using MacBook (late 2008) OS X 10.9.2 and recently upgraded to Lightroom 5.3 from Lightroom 4. After a while, some photo started to show exclamation mark at the right hand corner of the photo (*.CR2 raw files in NAS) in grid view. When I click on the exclamation mark, it shows a dialog with following message; "Lightroom has encountered problems reading this photo". So, I moved previews.lrdata, which is about 9GB, to the trash and restarted the Lightroom 5, expecting Lightroom 5 to create a new previews.lrdata. However, it won't create any preview at all.

My CS3 has been crashing every single time I work with a portrait style image... I don't have any other issues except this one.
I can open the raw file and edit it, but when I create a new canvas and move the file over into the new canvas it freezes and crashes... I can do the exact same thing with a landscape style image and it never even flinches. My computer easily meets the requirements to run CS3, so I don't know what the issue is since it only occurs with vertical images.
Is there a way in actions or scrip to size a folder of different size horizontal and vertical images at the same time so that the longer edge ( h or V ) is equal - ie - horiz long side 2", shortside whatever on Horizontal - Vert long side 2", shortside whatever on vertical ? at present I am separating H & V and using two different actions .

Since Corel stated pushing some upgrade notices to my PC about X6 I have been getting weird vertical noise bands on my images that had previously been fine.
This appears on RAW, and TIFF in the manage window and the edit window. JPEG images appear to be fine.
I have uploaded a file attachment after much bruh hah hah about image size in dimensions and number of bytes thta shows the problem.
What is the easiest way of removing brown lines/streaks from pic. I've attached a sample of the image I need to remove the streaks from.

But if i were to create it in PS as a still frame, how do you go about making it look the way it does? I can imagine you could do it by creating lines and making copies of it and varying each a little bit, add some color overlays etc etc. And then there is the motion blur effect theyve got on it. Not sure how to go about that, but overall that looks like a lot of hard manual labour.

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust downloaded LR 5 and noticed that I cannot jump back from a Publish Service folder preview to a different folder preview in grid mode. The only way to view photos in another folder is to restart LR 5. This only happens when I am viewing photos in a Publish Service such as Flickr.
I updated from LR 4 using Creative Cloud installer.
I believe this issue started when I upgraded to Inventor Professional 2014. When I print idw files with shaded models on my HP Designjet 500 plotter I get white streaks in the shaded model. I never had this issue with the 2013 version of Inventor. If I export the same idw file to a pdf then print the pdf file there is no streaking and the printed drawing is okay. Thinking it was a Designjet issue I spent a couple days on HP's discussion group to find a solution but now it looks like a software issue.

Can I change the Elements 8 format to work in a vertical format to accommodate the larger size possible with a vertical image. It is difficult to manipulate the functions in Elements when the mouse is working in a horizontal mode and you are viewing a large image in a vertical format. If the format of the Elements 8 software can be changes to vertical, any protocol (directions) to accomplish this?

I opened a illustrator file with a linked jpeg in it.
I updated the jpeg and the new file (working jpeg) didn't preview and at the same other images in that file and basically in every illustrator file i've made stopped to show up. Now I cannot place or update any image links.
I already tried to uninstall (with preferences) the whole illustrator and reinstall it but nothing shows up. Only image I got to preview is a binary coded eps.
While using the 3D extrude and bevel tool, specifically the isometric preset from the position drop down menu. I am noticing that when I expand the shape (in this case a perfect cube), the vertical paths are not exactly perfect, and are not truly vertical, but off slightly. Is this something that can be fixed or adjusted in the settings, or is this how the tool works?
