While exporting photos, it is not allowing me to resize them during the export process. It is faded and won't let me click it.

I am using lightroom 4.1 64 bit.
I've been running on LR4 for about 2 weeks with no issues until last night when, for some reason, it would not allow me to rename my photos. I had been renaming photos almost every day since I got LR4 and this issue just popped up out of nowhere yesterday.
'Some Photos Will Not Be Renamed Because They Are Missing Or Not Writable' is the saying that pops up. But the files aren't missing and not sure why they aren't writable.
I'm trying to import some photos but when I tried to find them LR doesn't allow me to see the sub-folders where I put them. I shows all the 1,000s of photos in the top level folder but when I click the triangle, it turns on its side but it doesn't reveal the sub-folders (see screen grab, Samsung is the folder I'm trying to access).

That aside I just want to make sure I am interpreting the Page Bleed guides correctly. If I understand properly displaying the Page Bleed shows the area of the image that will be chopped off during book production to produce a nice, clean full bleed final product. And so to that end with the Page Bleed guides active I should ensure that any image detail that I want to ensure does NOT get clipped should be INSIDE those bleed guides.
I'd hate to go through all this, spend the money and time, and realize too late I blew it.
Photos I am trying to import have the same image number as photos already in LR3 catalog. What do I do....allowing duplications isn't working already tried that.

I can uplaod all the images from preview to the LR catalog. But then I have to go into the catalog and delete unwanted images.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a JPEG photo I want to use as the centerpiece for my homepage. The photo is too large however (1700 x 600 pixels) so I want to reduce the size to about 500 x 175 pixels.
The problem I'm having is that when I go to Image -> image size and try to reduce the size with the resample box checked, I still lose a significant amount of resolution to the point where it's not worth putting the photo on my homepage. how I can reduce the size without losing much resolution?
I am trying to resize a photo for printing to a 8x10 as it still crops off the top and bottom when printing. I took this with my D3100. How can I do this? I have tried printing several times.

Here is my dilemma. I'm very anal about this and was able to solve the problem in CS3. But I've lost the instructions. What I want to do:
When I resize (or resample) an image to 30 inches wide for printing I want the image on my screen in CS6 to be exactly 30 inches wide. Thusly I am able to see a true representation of my final sharpening.
As it is now... if I resize it to 30 inches it actually shows up at approx. 24-1/2 inches wide on screen. Any magical trick to adjust this in CS6 as I was able to do in CS3?
I am completely unable to get a couple of the photos to resize to where they will print in an 8x10 (960x768) format. No matter what I do, they're either cut off or they're distorted. I know the problem is that the original jpg file from my camera is not exactly the right proportions but isn't there some way to correct that using DPX?
In the three above, the people on the ends are cut off when I order the prints, despite my edits and resize efforts.In this one, the print comes out distorted because the sides are squashed in when it is printed at the store.

View 3 Replies View RelatedLast week I have made photo's of 140 different paintings. Some paintings were very big, some were very small, some where rectangle shape, some were square shape. All paintings were set upon a stand and I photographed all of them from my tripod. So you can understand that on some pictures I have large paintings and on some photos I have small paintings.
Now I want to remove everything around the painting so that my photo ONLY shows the painting (even the border around the painting has to be removed).
First I select only the painting. Then I inverse my selection and remove it. So I'm now left with a photo of only the painting. So far no problem.Then I select the painting and with CTRL T I place the 'reference point location to the upper left corner and than set the height to 2000px. The painting now becomes 2000px high, but the width isn't corrected so I click on the 'maintain aspect ratio' and the painting is okay. This is now done with (for example a square painting).
But when I now perform this action on a rectangle painting, the end-result is a square painting.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed the CS3 Extended trial. I then purchased a hard copy of CS3 Standard and I entered the product key and activated CS3. When I go to Help, Updates, it finds two updates I need - Flash Lite 3 Update for Device Central and ExtendScript Toolkit 2.0.2 (I already have Device Central and Toolkit 2.0.) When I try to install the two updates, I get the message saying they cannot be installed and that I need to uninstall my software and reinstall it and then try the updates again. Do I really need to uninstall CS3 and reinstall it?

1. There is no chance to scale 1px line to be 2px
2. You cant make from 10px height object 1px line.
From 1px line always staying 1px.
From more than 1px you can make only 2px line not 1px.
Thing happening from X3 to newest X6.

I've been trying to export jpeg images from LR 3, and sizing them to 1110 x 525 pixels, @ 72dpi, the dimensions of my blog header. However, despite inputing these values, the exported jpeg image is sized at 793 x525. Quality is set to 85 and nothing else is checked. Am I missing something? I've also tried the "dimensions" and the "width/height" box choices, but it always outputs at the same 793 x525.
The files are from a Nikon D2h (a little old), RAW.
I have a intel hd graphics card with the newest driver and according to Intel it is supported for photoshop 3d. I cannot get it to work though no matter what setting i set.

My previous computer had 2 arrow icons on the desktop.
One was for re-sizing horizontal pics and the other for re-sizing vertical pics.
I could simply drag/drop the image file onto these re-sizing icons and they would be re-sized.
The smaller file size thumbnail would appear on the desktop.
How can I get these re-sizing tools on my new computer's desktop?

I have 100's of images a friend wants me to give them so they can print them.. I don't know what size, some will be 6 x 4 and some might be 8 x 10's
Imported and converted to DNG into LR I image has dimension size of 3264 x 4912 or 4912 x 3264. Some have been cropped.
When exporting them all as a batch, I am confused as to a general settings to use
I am thinking Jpeg Quality 80? Not checking re size to fit and DPI 300.
I have been experimenting and the file sizes exported vary hugely from 456k to 4.29mb for 1 image
I'm running LR 5.2 RC and my RAW are getting resized by one pixel when I import them. My RAW are 3456 x 5184 and need to be this size to be accepted by software I am using. Sometimes they are dropping a pixel from the long edge, sometimes just the short edge.
Is there a way to set a default sizing on import if I can't prevent this bug from happening?
I'd like to resize a large batch of images to a more manageable size. I shoot a lot of weddings and find when shooting with my Nikon D800, the files are enormous when shooting Raw. Until now I would export all my vertical images first to a folder and then the horizontal ones and then resize in photoshop to say 11x17. Is there a way to resize ALL my images before I even bring them into photoshop? I'd like to resize them all (both vert and horizontal images) at one time. If I select the batch of images I'd like to resize, and them click export, it takes me to a menu which gives me the option to resize. I just don't know what settings I should use? Can I just click width and height and punch in say 11x17 and leave it at 300dpi? I want to preserve the aulaity for print purposes but reduce the file size so it's manageable for both my client and me when I then go into Photoshop to edit.

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust updated my LR to 5.3 from the CC and noticed a weird problem that I never encountered before in LR4 or 5.x (before 5.3 that is). I usually export pictures from RAW format to either TIFF or JPG (100% quality) and depending on purpose I use batch resizing, e.g. 1080 pixels on short edge ... well that whole Resize setting gets ignored by LR 5.3! It still exports full size (full RAW size in this case) into JPG or TIFF, but it won't resize .
EDIT:
I found out that I checked the "Don't enlarge" box in Export dialog under Resizing, that's when resizing was not working. After I unchecked it then it works fine, but still what does that have to do with anything if we are talking about downsampling images from 5184x3456 pixels to 1620x1080 ...
I'm using Photoshop CC. After using a process known as frequency separation the stamp visible layer does not allow me to use any tools to make adjustments.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThere is a photo I've downloaded from the Internet that is by a photographer who shoots in Black & White. However, when I print out the photo it comes out sepia. I tried adding a Black & White Adjustment layer, but when I go to click on the button in the adjustment palette it's grayed out. I've tried this on other photos of the photographer and does it fine.
