I went to preferences and unchecked the "backup is on" but it keeps turning itself on again. It keeps telling me to purchase more storage. I already backup all my photos on a separate hard drive, and don't need to purchase more storage so Photoshop can do it also. I need a way to permanently turn off the automatic backup option.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I am working in Photoshop CS, I often use the 'F' command to isolate an image in the middle of a gray space. However, if one selects the image with the selection or crop tool, a too rigourous gesture suddenly causes Photoshop to slide the image away, so then only a part will still be visible. As long as this function is in effect, there seems to be no way to get the entire image centered again in order to determine the crop precisely. Does anyone know how to solve this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'll come straight out and admit: yes, my real problem here is my laziness but, ignoring that, the 'problem' I have is getting so tired of and annoyed with the whole trial & error schtick that comes with saving animated gifs (scale image, save, check file size, repeat to first step until file size is finally desirable).
Two possible solutions come to mind, one I admit is probably quite unrealistic but I would think the other has a good chance of existing.
First, the unrealistic solution possibility. Is there a plugin or anything else where I can input a file size and it could calculate the exact (or close to exact) scale I would need to resize to if I want the gif to be around that file size? (i.e. "For this gif to be 879kb your best bet would (probably) be 515 x 283")
Now then, the more realistic (or at least I think it is) solution possibility. What about being able to preview a file size of an animated gif before saving? (i.e. "If you save this 400 x 226 gif it will most likely be '(insert byte size here)'kb")
I want to learn how to isolate a colour and turn the rest of the photo balck and white using
1) a RAW file photo and
2) a PSD file photo.
How to turn off the "add automatic transition" function. I am using VSx4. I can go to Settings>Preferences> and hit the Edit tab, and I make SURE that the "automatically add transition effect" box is NOT checked, click OK but there is still a transition that gets added when two clips are placed next to each other. I turned on the function to check it out, and now I want to get rid of it, and can't find out how to get it to go away!
View 6 Replies View RelatedEach time I boot up the computer, or restart the computer, and each time I connect any USB device to the computer, LR 5 starts up. If there are images on a USB drive (or camera, or phone) I'm connecting - for example, to recharge the cell phone - LR 5 immediately tries to import those images. I almost never want that sort of automatic importing. I can turn off LR and "skip backup" - but there must be some setting which will allow me to have control of when LR opens and when it tries to import.
This happens on the LR 5 installation on my desktop computer, but not on the LR 5 installation on my laptop computer. Both installations are activated with valid reg codes.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo, when Adobe introduced the "brush preview" when using the Control+Option drag to change the brush size/hardness (not sure if it's called this way), I was ecstatic! It made my workflow much faster without having to go to the menu to change the brush size or to the bracket keys. Now on CS6 they added a feature that basically broke that for me. Now it not only shows the size/hardness, but it also shows the transparency. It sounds like a great idea, and it is when you work with bigger opacities, but I work a lot with opacities below 10% and it basically becomes invisible, so it's hard to know if I'm using a hard/soft brush when adjusting the brush size. Is there a way to turn just the transparency preview off?!

Any way to turn off the automatic launching of isolation mode on double click. It's highly annoying and slows me down every time I have to exit the mode so I can get back to work. I prefer to select elements using the layers panel, which is much more flexible.
Is there a preference or other setting to disable isolation mode? Especially when using a Wacom pen, it's alll too easy to double-click unintentionally. So disabling it permanently would be a great.
When I create something with an outline, the outline will increase or decrease in thickness as I resize the image. So if I have something at say 10" X 10" at 4pt outline, when I resize it to 2" X 2" the outline is like 5X thicker and messes everything up.
Is there a way to combine or something with a vector so the outline auto changes or never changes thickness when resizing the graphic?
I have a JPEG photo I want to use as the centerpiece for my homepage. The photo is too large however (1700 x 600 pixels) so I want to reduce the size to about 500 x 175 pixels.
The problem I'm having is that when I go to Image -> image size and try to reduce the size with the resample box checked, I still lose a significant amount of resolution to the point where it's not worth putting the photo on my homepage. how I can reduce the size without losing much resolution?

View 1 Replies View Relatedif this is a duplicate posting. I'm new to using this resource. Just want to be sure my question is getting to the right place for qualified responses.
Here is my dilemma. I'm very anal about this and was able to solve the problem in CS3. But I've lost the instructions. What I want to do:
When I resize (or resample) an image to 30 inches wide for printing I want the image on my screen in CS6 to be exactly 30 inches wide. Thusly I am able to see a true representation of my final sharpening.
As it is now... if I resize it to 30 inches it actually shows up at approx. 24-1/2 inches wide on screen. Any magical trick to adjust this in CS6 as I was able to do in CS3?
Last week I have made photo's of 140 different paintings. Some paintings were very big, some were very small, some where rectangle shape, some were square shape. All paintings were set upon a stand and I photographed all of them from my tripod. So you can understand that on some pictures I have large paintings and on some photos I have small paintings.
Now I want to remove everything around the painting so that my photo ONLY shows the painting (even the border around the painting has to be removed).
First I select only the painting. Then I inverse my selection and remove it. So I'm now left with a photo of only the painting. So far no problem. Then I select the painting and with CTRL T I place the 'reference point location to the upper left corner and than set the height to 2000px. The painting now becomes 2000px high, but the width isn't corrected so I click on the 'maintain aspect ratio' and the painting is okay. This is now done with (for example a square painting).
But when I now perform this action on a rectangle painting, the end-result is a square painting.
I am completely unable to get a couple of the photos to resize to where they will print in an 8x10 (960x768) format. No matter what I do, they're either cut off or they're distorted. I know the problem is that the original jpg file from my camera is not exactly the right proportions but isn't there some way to correct that using DPX?
In the three above, the people on the ends are cut off when I order the prints, despite my edits and resize efforts. In this one, the print comes out distorted because the sides are squashed in when it is printed at the store.
While exporting photos, it is not allowing me to resize them during the export process. It is faded and won't let me click it.
Here is a link to a screenshot of what it is doing:
