May 9, 2013I am early in my learning curve on Lightroom. I understand that changes are not automatically applied to an image file but rather kept in a Lightroom database to preserve the original (non destructive). However, that is not a goal of mine. After making changes to a file or adding keywords, I want Lightroom to automatically update the actual files (in my case jpegs) so that I do not need to export them to be used elsewhere such as in a slideshows etc. I have found settings that imply the "metadata" is or can be updated, but I do not know if that is the "develop" changes I made or the keywords or if I need to do that every time before I close lightroom. Right now, I do an export of my entire folder of 20,000 images after each session where I make changes and then I use that export as a source for my automatic backup programs and supplies a continuous slideshow on another machine.
Maybe another way to say it is: after making changes and closing Lightroom, I want to be able to take an image from "My Pictures" folder (which contains all my images) and know it has the latest changes made and the latest keywords embedded. I do not want to have to export these files. first.

May 8, 2013My Basic GPU features were working flawless with Photoshop version 13.0 After I update to version 13.1 for CC members all my GPU features stop working. Is there a form to set my Photoshop version 13.1 in order to use my GPU features or there is a huge difference between versions that doesn't allow me to use the GPU features?

First question: I assume this was some sort of automatic update. How do I turn that off, so that I have control over whether or not I want to update?
Second question: How do I go back to the previous version? I can't find basic functions, because they've been moved.
I was trying to do a quick project, and to learn a whole new set up. I'm appalled to find that my program's been changed without giving me any choice in the matter, and then having to sign up on a list serve to fix the problem. Why not set up a forum, where we can subscribe to just the thread that's relevant to us?

Oct 7, 2012So I am using Inventor LT 2012 in a small company that makes conveyor rollers. Most of the time we make the same roller with only different values to the variables. So I decided to make a part with the parameters in an Excel sheet:
A customer call us, and they want a roller with x,y,z dimensions, I put in in Excel and the drawing is ready.
But, when I need to make a second drawing of that roller with different dimensions, the first one also change.
Is there any way to keep a drawing fix when it is done ? If possible, only making a dwg for each customer without having to make an ipt and excel sheet for each drawing would be awesome !

But, who wants to start fixing issues that the software is creating? I would like to disable this but have not found a setting yet.

Dec 18, 2012I have A windows 64 Ultimate system, PSE 10, with the latest updates. I have a core I7 procesor and 12GB of ram. I'm using a Nikon D800 with a 24-70 lens and a full spherical pannoramic setup, to eliminate paralax. Prior to this setup, I was using a D7000 with a 17-55 2.8 and a standard panning tripod and dropping it into the notch for vertical pannoramic stitching.
Prior to the gear upgrades, I was not having problems stitching pannoramas together. I just exported them through lightroom (as an 8bit PSD file) or from a folder and used auto mode. I exported the end result as a high rest TIFF. Now I'm getting an error message that says, could not merge images/some images. I even reduced the number of photographs, to three, and I still couldn't get it to work. I generally take photos 20-40% overlapped (as recommended) to assist the software in stitching. I've had partial success with the interactive mode, but I've still have some ghosting present. I don't understand how my success rate has gone from 100% to only partial, yet my gear and technique has improved. I'm wondering if PSE has problems with the large file sizes of the D800. That's the only thing I can think of that's changed in my workflow. Am I hitting some inherent software limiations that a full vesion of photoshop does not have? A friend of mine has a copy of the raw files and has successfully stitched them together with a full version of photoshop cs5 (all done with a less capable system).
