Photoshop Elements :: Photomerge Failing In Automatic And Spherical Mode
Dec 18, 2012
I have A windows 64 Ultimate system, PSE 10, with the latest updates. I have a core I7 procesor and 12GB of ram. I'm using a Nikon D800 with a 24-70 lens and a full spherical pannoramic setup, to eliminate paralax. Prior to this setup, I was using a D7000 with a 17-55 2.8 and a standard panning tripod and dropping it into the notch for vertical pannoramic stitching.
Prior to the gear upgrades, I was not having problems stitching pannoramas together. I just exported them through lightroom (as an 8bit PSD file) or from a folder and used auto mode. I exported the end result as a high rest TIFF. Now I'm getting an error message that says, could not merge images/some images. I even reduced the number of photographs, to three, and I still couldn't get it to work. I generally take photos 20-40% overlapped (as recommended) to assist the software in stitching. I've had partial success with the interactive mode, but I've still have some ghosting present. I don't understand how my success rate has gone from 100% to only partial, yet my gear and technique has improved. I'm wondering if PSE has problems with the large file sizes of the D800. That's the only thing I can think of that's changed in my workflow. Am I hitting some inherent software limiations that a full vesion of photoshop does not have? A friend of mine has a copy of the raw files and has successfully stitched them together with a full version of photoshop cs5 (all done with a less capable system).
I use to work with PS Elements 11 but now consider changing to CS6 since PSE11 photo merge does only use maximum of 3GB memory, means I can not merge more than maximum 3 pictures at the time. I tried CS6 which , however, does it properly. But it does not seem to have the AUTOMATIC FILLING OPTION PS11 consist of. Is this true or do I have to use certain settings?
When I use the spherical filter in the horizontal mode in order to narrow the center of my picture slightly, the filter creates evenly spaced horizontal lines. Is there a way to avoid this? Here is the funny thing. If I rotate the image 90 degrees, then apply the filter using "vertical only" the lines do not appear. The lines only appear when I use "horizontal only"!
Watching the movie in Digital Tutors: Understanding Perspective Drawing in Illustrator - Movie 6: 7:20
In this movie, and in Adobe instructions, it says that to change a planes position onto a particluar point of an object from its default position of 0 one needs to place cursor over the point that you wish the plane to come to and hold shift down. When I do this, the plane I want to move to that point disappears. When I make it reappear, it is in its original position of 0.
Any way to turn off the automatic launching of isolation mode on double click. It's highly annoying and slows me down every time I have to exit the mode so I can get back to work. I prefer to select elements using the layers panel, which is much more flexible.
Is there a preference or other setting to disable isolation mode? Especially when using a Wacom pen, it's alll too easy to double-click unintentionally. So disabling it permanently would be a great.
After installing Elements 12 on the MAC (10.8.5) the menu for Photomerge Panorama is greyed out, so Photomerge Panorama cannot be started. Any other Photomerge function is available and can be used.
Is the panorama one of the missing function on MACs?
Import and Exoirt from the File menu are also greyed out.
How can I access "photomerge" in elements 11? When I go to file==new all that comes up is blank file and image from clipboard. That is where it use to be, is it some where else in this version.
I have just purchased and installed PSE11. The photomerge options don't appear under File New. I have tried resetting preferences as suggested in the forum with no effect. I have PSE 6 installed on the same computer.
I am trying to mrge 4 photos into 1. 6MP photos. core 173632QM 2.2 with 32GB RAM. win 8 64 bit
How can I possibly get an error saying "Could not fill because there is not enough RAM" on a 32GB RAM system? Is there a setting I need to set somewhere to make it use more?
Photoshop Elements 11 freezes after selecting images in the tray and then selecting Photomerge/Group Shot or Photomerge/Scene Cleaner. The program does not respond and then exits after Windows checks for a solution. I tried this with 2 images of size 3000x2000. The system is Win7, Intel i5, 8GB RAM, 10GB free SSD and >500GB HDD (set in Edit/Preferences).
I cannot make the photomerge panorama function work in elements 11. It simplygenerates the standard Window 7 error message and when it can't find a solution the program closes. In previous versions ( 9 and 10) it always worked and never caused a problem.
Attempting to rebuild the preferences file as suggested for a similar problem affecting earlier versions was also done but to no avail. Its a function I use quite frequently so until it is resolved I will keep using version 10.
I have a PC with Windows 7 Pro. I have had Photoshop Elements 9 installed for awhile now but find I am unable to use the photomerge landscape feature anymore. When I click on file, new, the photomerge landscape option is greyed out.
I just downloaded Elements 11 and the Photomerge Panorama function is not available, even though the other photomerge functions are. How can I fix this?
how to scan an old 1888, 10x12 photo in two halves (left and right), and used the Elements Photomerge to combine the two shots. It worked quite well - slightly askew at the top edge, but the rest of the image appears to be well-stitched - to the naked eye, at least.
After sharpening the image, I went to Guided Edit and began using the brush to "heal" a few of the old marks on the image at full size - that worked well!. Until I moved my brush into the area that had been the left side, that is.. The brush no longer worked. Then I noted that the about 1/3 of the left side was not sharpened like the right side was, either! To test it further, I changed it to a black & white photo. Only that larger right section changed to black & white, and the left part of the image stayed it's old sepia color. I saved the images, closed and re-opened Elements - but had the same results. The left side just can't be edited.
Isn't there a way to edit the entire merged image?
I've saved the image as a high-quality JPEG, and also as Adobe Elements format - but they still won't fully edit. The two are large files - I was thinking that I'd need to save it at high-quality in order to end up with a nice retouched & sharpened 8x10, suitable for framing.
Also, I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit on one laptop, and Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit on another..(I'm trying to get by with the Elements version I have, due to finances.)
After being able to complete several Photomerge Group Shot projects before, the program is no longer saving them. It allows me to open all photos (I've tried merging group shots from 2 pictures to 5 pictures in an effort to find the error) and to go through all the motions but when I click 'Done' nothing happens. No error. No lag. One of my open files just sits there untouched.
I read somewhere that I should delete my preferences, but I haven't made any changes. This is the only feature I've ever even used on my new Elements program.
I tried opening the program under my husband's user name (new settings / preferences), but the same thing occurs. It just doesn't save - even when the computer has just been booted up and I'm only trying to merge two photos.
My machine is a Dell Inspiron 530S running WinXP 32-bit SP3 with 2GB RAM. I just clean installed WinXP and all windows updates. The only programs I have installed are Office and PSE10.
I just got Lightroom as a Christmas gift that is incompatible with this computer. If this is a RAM issue...or if I should upgrade to 64-bit...what should my minimum system requirements be to optimally run both Elements and Lightroom?
can "Auto Align Selected Layers Based on Contents" be disabled during photomerge?
=> First, most of times the auto align result is not good
=> it takes time to wait for window to appear, sometimes hangs
=> When all images are jumbled together, it is like making jigsaw puzzle.
Actually I got used to Photoshop CS2 where I disable auto align check box...And I manually create the "mosaic" (not just a flat panorama) from images taken from microscope.
elements11 always crashes when starting photomerge panorama. i had the same problem in elements 10. thought in the new version it will be ok. failed. i am using win7 with 16 gb
I would like to create a new panorama in PSE11, but the option to do so seems to be missing. If I choose Enhance -> Photomerge, the Panorama-option is greyed out.
Update: a bit later: All of a sudden it seems to work under Enhange -> Photomerge and then Panorama isn't greyed out anymore.
Host computer is an Intel Macbook Pro, 2.4G Core 2 duo preocessor, running OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) with a 128GB solid state drive and 8GB of 1067 Mhz DDR3 memory installed.
It happened more than a few times while attempting to merge six Tiff files, each with a file size of almost 12MB. The result was the same even after trying the photomerge with just three of the almost 12MB Tiff files.
I checked preferences to determine what the program's system memory requirements were, but discovered that I could not allocate more than 3GB of memory to PSE; it is recognizing not the 8GB which are installed but only 3GB.
I wasn't able to detect how to include a text file attachment here. Hang reports were saved and can be submitted.
I just installed PE12 on my IMac (OS 10.8.5) and can not access directly the Photomerge module from Lightroom 5.2: the corresponding menu lines are inactive (dark grey). On the other hand, I cant open the files in Elements from LR, and once there, the Photomerge module works properly.
