Illustrator :: Automatic Plane Positioning In Perspective Drawing Mode

Oct 30, 2012

Watching the movie in Digital Tutors: Understanding Perspective Drawing in Illustrator - Movie 6: 7:20

In this movie, and in Adobe instructions, it says that to change a planes position onto a particluar point of an object from its default position of 0 one needs to place cursor over the point that you wish the plane to come to and hold shift down. When I do this, the plane I want to move to that point disappears. When I make it reappear, it is in its original position of 0.

how to make it move where I want it to?

Illustrator :: Change Vanishing Plane 1Point Perspective

Dec 3, 2012

I am in some trouble in the one-point perspective in Illustrator. I am making a scene where I need the vanishing point to be on the left and the vanishing plane on the right, in one-point perspective. I just moved the vanishing point & plane where I want it to be, but Illustrator still thinks the plane is on the left, so when ever I type something and move it onto the vanishing plane, it becomes mirrored. How do I go about this? Can I change the settings for the planes or do I have to reflect the text each and every time?

Illustrator :: Perspective Selection Tool Stuck On Plane Left (1)

May 23, 2013

I have been working with the perseptive tool for a couple of hours now. I've watched 3 or 4 videos, and read writting directions but I can't for the lift of me figure out what's going on. I am using the perspective grid and selection tool. I can get my objects onto the left plane only. When I try to select for the right plain (2) or the horizontal grid (3) it keeps moving my shape back onto the left plane. I've tried using the icon to select the areas and I have tried using keyboard shortcuts. What am I doing wrong?

Illustrator :: Perspective Grid - Switch Orientation On Horizontal Plane

Sep 12, 2013

I have a tall rectangle I want to place on the horizontal plane of the perspective grid.

Clicking that plane in the widget, or slecting the rectangle and hitting 2, results in the rectangle oriented towards the right vanishing point (or 2:00). I need it to point the other way, toward the left vanishing point (to 10:00).

Is there some way to force an object to do that?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Positioning Of Points On Angled Plane

Oct 18, 2011

I need to accurately position a point on an angled plane, but the question is how?

I've generated the required planes, the axis to revolve the angled plane around, and of course, the angled plane itself. (See attacment)

I now need to position the point coincident to the generated axis/plane and the angled plane. I have nothing to refer to so I can't project any geometry from any face. (The vee-shaped recess is generated after the slot is extruded and its position is the resut of the breakout against the OD).

How can I do this???

Illustrator :: Turn Off The Automatic Launching Of Isolation Mode On Double Click?

Dec 31, 2013

Any way to turn off the automatic launching of isolation mode on double click. It's highly annoying and slows me down every time I have to exit the mode so I can get back to work. I prefer to select elements using the layers panel, which is much more flexible.

Is there a preference or other setting to disable isolation mode? Especially when using a Wacom pen, it's alll too easy to double-click unintentionally. So disabling it permanently would be a great.

Illustrator :: Drawing Warped Grid In Perspective?

Feb 6, 2014

How to use the perspective tool and i understand that i can draw a grid onto this but the grid always seems to be out of whack when i do and the line spacing isn't at all perfect.  What i want to be able to do is draw a grid with equal spacing and have the ability to warp this so it looks all bent up going off into the distance.

I can see this is going to be something that i have to draw in manually but i'm kind of hoping that i can have the bulk of the job done for me.

However, if i do have to draw it manually, how would i go about spacing the lines equally along a wafty curved line???

Illustrator :: CS5 - Drawing 5 Drawer Cart In 2D Perspective Grid

Jun 26, 2012

Using Illustrator CS5 I am drawing a 5 drawer cart in the 2D Perspective grid. After drawing one drawer with connected sides, back and bottom I want to be able to copy and move this drawer 4 times into the correct positions in the cart. I do not want to redraw the drawer 4 times. I know I must use the Perspective Selection Tool to do this. However, I cannot get it to move the entire copied drawer into the next position. I have tried using PathFinder to unite the parts of the drawer and the Compound Path command but to no avail. How can I accomplish this task?

Maya Modeling :: Cannot Manipulate In Perspective Mode

Apr 30, 2011

I'm using Maya 2011 x64 on Win 7, with an AMD Phenom and 8 gb RAM,.

The problem is when I try editing the object in perspective mode, I cannot. But I can edit it in other views. I dont know how this happened. It was working fine all this while. which button I pressed that made the Perspective view to lock up!! I tried switching to persp view from one of the other views, and it does let me get to the marking menu, but after that, when I select anything like edges, vertex etc.. it stays there and I'm unable to bring back the marking menu in the perspective view. All other views are fine. A little while before, I was able to work in perspective to a certain degree, and would lock up eventually (usually after I press the Q button to go to select tool). But as of now, even when I quit Maya and relaunch it and then open the same file, the perspective view is locked and I cannot bring up the marking menu to select the faces, edges, etc.. Only the marking menu showing Complete Tool and Select All comes up.

How does one change the field of view while in perspective mode? I am not referring to a camera's field of view, but the field of view which is displayed on your screen while panning and "walking" around a model. Similar to how sketchup lets you change from 1 to 120 degrees at any given time.

Photoshop Elements :: Photomerge Failing In Automatic And Spherical Mode

Dec 18, 2012

I have A windows 64 Ultimate system, PSE 10, with the latest updates. I have a core I7 procesor and 12GB of ram.  I'm using a Nikon D800 with a 24-70 lens and a full spherical pannoramic setup, to eliminate paralax.  Prior to this setup, I was using a D7000 with a 17-55 2.8 and a standard panning tripod and dropping it into the notch for vertical pannoramic stitching.

Prior to the gear upgrades, I was not having problems stitching pannoramas together.  I just exported them through lightroom (as an 8bit PSD file) or from a folder and used auto mode.  I exported the end result as a high rest TIFF.  Now I'm getting an error message that says, could not merge images/some images.  I even reduced the number of photographs, to three, and I still couldn't get it to work.  I generally take photos 20-40% overlapped (as recommended) to assist the software in stitching.  I've had partial success with the interactive mode, but I've still have some ghosting present.  I don't understand how my success rate has gone from 100% to only partial, yet my gear and technique has improved.  I'm wondering if PSE has problems with the large file sizes of the D800.  That's the only thing I can think of that's changed in my workflow.  Am I hitting some inherent software limiations that a full vesion of photoshop does not have?  A friend of mine has a copy of the raw files and has successfully stitched them together with a full version of photoshop cs5 (all done with a less capable system).

AutoCad :: Flatten Drawing To Xy Plane?

Oct 28, 2011

I'm using AutoCad 2010.

I have received some plan drawings that I'm supposed to do some additional work to. I've found that some of the lines and texts have different z factors. They look really messy in other views than plan view. Is there a command that can put all the work into the same plane, preferably to the xy plane, z = 0? I know there is a command that can flatten 3d views into a 2d drawing but that doesn't seem safe in this case. I know there is such a command in for example Rhino (flatten artwork) but in AutoCad I've never come across it.

AutoCad 3D :: Dimensions In Drawing Placed On One Plane?

Apr 20, 2010

I would like to ask a question about dimensions in 3D drawing being placed on one plane. I have a 3D drawing, and when I draw a dimension, it gets placed by the program on the XY plane. The dimensions do not stay along the dimensioned objects. see the attached picture. For example, you draw a line from [1,1,1] to [3,3,3] and then dimension it. The dim line is placed to [1,1,0]-[3,3,0] instead of along the line.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Automatic Drawing Creation

Mar 13, 2013

I've been making iLogic assemblies with hints of VB for about 6 months now. My Boss has asked me if I can write code that will effectively create drawings automatically.

What we would like to create is a rule, which when run, creates a new drawing file, places the active assembly in a base view, then place a Left, Right and Top view of the assembly and place a parts list in the top corner. Dimensions are not really important at the moment, as the sizes of the parts are in the description field and the drawings are used for assembling the product only.

AutoCad :: Drawing Ellipse In 3D 3Point Plane

Oct 8, 2012

I have a database of the 50 stars closest to the Sun. I wrote a program that translates Right Ascension and Declination into X,Y,Z coordinates on the "normal" UCS view.

I created all stars in 3D, distances to scale (1m = 1Ly), stars as spheres 0.1Ly radius (so they are visible !) Now, I need to draw the elliptic trajectory of a rogue "planet", starting near Lacaille8760 (6.456, 7.664, -8.076), passing near the EZAquarii, A, B & C, located at 3.557, 10.268, -2.973, to get a slingshot that will launch the planetoids towards the Sun (0,0,0). The elliptic trajectory should be a 3d "tube" a few pixels dia.

Problem:
How to set the screen coordinates to the plane formed by the 3 points above, so the ellipse can be drawn on a plane ? I changed the UCS to 3 points, and the screen shows the three stars on the same plane, but when drawing the ellipse, it is to the original UCS...

I'll make the ACAD files available for download at [URL]...... "TECH" tab. Once created, the drawing is used in R14 format to be imported in 3DSMax8 to get easier views and animation.

AutoCAD Inventor :: ILogic Automatic Drawing View Scale Label

1:1, 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, 1:12, 1:!6, 1:24, 1:32, 1:48, etc. on the view label for that view it will diplay ...

SCALE: 1/2" = 1'-0"

i know it will be some sort of a loop and it needs to check all views when ran for any changes.

AutoCAD Inventor :: ILogic Automatic Change Of Drawing Title Block?

Nov 13, 2013

I am currently working with fx parameters and iLogic to drive a model and it's corresponding drawing to change based on a single user parameter.

I have managed to get the drawing to update both the scale of the views I need and the size of the sheet with the change in parameter using the following rule:

IfParameter("EB75551.ipt.Rise")<1801Then
ActiveSheet.ChangeSize("A1", MoveBorderItems :=True)
ElseIfParameter("EB75551.ipt.Rise")>1800Then
ActiveSheet.ChangeSize("A2", MoveBorderItems :=True)
EndIf

However when i attempt to use this with the title block using the function:

ActiveSheet.TitleBlock="My Title Block"
in place of the sheet change size it brings up the error message:

Error in rule: Drawing Title Block, in document: Drawing

The parameter is incorrect. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070057 (E_INVALIDARG))

I have read elsewhere that this is due to me having prompted entries for the scale and drawn by fields, however when i use the function designed for prompted entries: ActiveSheet.SetTitleBlock("Other Title Block", "promptedEntry1", "promptedEntry2")
It fills in the prompted entry fields from the code and if i change these entries in the "edit field" option they are overwritten when it is updated.

Is there a way have the prompted entries when you open the drawing fill in the "promptedEntry1" field in the rule so that I can use the rule? Or am I going about it the wrong way?

I should point out i'm new to iLogic and no-one in my workplace can use it so each person changing the "promptedEntry1" field to the scale they wish isn't a wise move.

Illustrator :: Use Perspective Grid Tool

Jul 22, 2013

I'm working on a sticker with a Big Ben style clock on it. I've created it using the 2-point perspective ability in Illustrator. Unfortunately, I've decided that I want it to feel "taller" than when I started, so I need to shift the perspective. However, when I use the Perspective Grid Tool and adjust the ground or horizon line, it only adjusts the grid, not the artwork. Is there a way to have the artwork adjust with the grid so that I can move the artwork around in 3D space to find the right perspective?
