AutoCAD Inventor :: Positioning Of Points On Angled Plane

Oct 18, 2011

I need to accurately position a point on an angled plane, but the question is how?

I've generated the required planes, the axis to revolve the angled plane around, and of course, the angled plane itself. (See attacment)

I now need to position the point coincident to the generated axis/plane and the angled plane. I have nothing to refer to so I can't project any geometry from any face. (The vee-shaped recess is generated after the slot is extruded and its position is the resut of the breakout against the OD).

How can I do this???

AutoCad 2D :: Changes Z Coordinates The Resulting Pline Is Angled To Xy Plane

Oct 3, 2013

I have just started using Autocad 2010 (i know i know, its not the latest )... but anyways.

I am facing this unique problem where i have a 3d solid object in the drawing, and when the first point in a pline command falls within the boundary of the 3d solid, autocad automatically assigns some of the properties of the 3dsolid to the new polyline i draw.

so for example, in the attached file, even if i am selecting pline command and starting a command within the rectangle (start point shown as a circle), it automatically changes the z coordinates so that the resulting pline is angled to the xy plane.

I a not sure how this happens, and how I can turn it off.

AutoCAD Inventor :: How To Add Axis And Plane Thought Center Points

Jun 20, 2007

Attached are two parts and an iFeature that I keep in the "Punch" folder and use as a punch. It is common that clearance holes need to turn into slots and vice versa. The centerpoint is the perfect locator for both. The problem is I have not found a good way to place an iFeature slot on a centerpoint as easy as I do an iPunch. This means I have to convert the part to sheet metal and then back again.

Is there an easy way to place a slot, or a similar slot like this with an iFeature? ie as easy as the Hole Feature or iPunch Feature?

The other thing I do is add an axis and plane thought the center points to aid in constraining. If I remember correctly it was not possible to include work geometry in an iFeature (at least with version 10)

Illustrator :: Automatic Plane Positioning In Perspective Drawing Mode

Oct 30, 2012

Watching the movie in Digital Tutors: Understanding Perspective Drawing in Illustrator - Movie 6: 7:20

In this movie, and in Adobe instructions, it says that to change a planes position onto a particluar point of an object from its default position of 0 one needs to place cursor over the point that you wish the plane to come to and hold shift down. When I do this, the plane I want to move to that point disappears. When I make it reappear, it is in its original position of 0.

how to make it move where I want it to?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Positioning 2 Sub-assemblies Exactly?

Mar 25, 2013

I have 2 tanks, each one is an assembly in itself, and they have to be positioned on a steel skid, also an assembly and then interconnecting pipework between the two. My prioblem is that I can't seem to find a way to position the two tanks at a set distance from each other and in relation to the edges of the skid.

Because of this, my pipe router is going all over the place in trying to join up the two termination points.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Add-in For Derived Part Positioning?

Apr 11, 2006

We have written an add-in that allows you to specify position and non-uniform scaling while creating a derived part.

[URL]

Some potential uses of this add-in include:

1.. To simulate an iFeature where you add or remove material - use Sculpt to add and Split to remove material. Unlike iFeature you could edit the source and make the changes be reflected in the derived part.

2.. To simulate an iFeature that places a sketch - useful for designing frames.

3.. To design a progressive die - you might want to place, with relative displacements, multiple parts representing different stages (or configurations) of a formed sheet metal part

4.. To realign (rotate) a part - sometimes skeletally driven parts (for example, four-bar linkage members) are not aligned with their "natural" coordinate system, causing skewed drawing views

5.. To derive a part with different scaling factors in X, Y and Z directions, which is useful in mold design

6.. To integrate two skeleton systems that do not share the same coordinate system

7.. To create scaled sketches (this should become useable after R11 SP1)

3ds Max Animation :: Use Of Two Pivot Points To Control Movement Concurrently In X And Y Plane?

Oct 23, 2013

How does one implement the use of two pivot points to control movement concurrently in the X- and Y-plane?

I 've added a Link Constraint to the salmon colored component which is linked to the red cylinder pin at far left.  This pin has a Path Constraint to an Arc path which is orientated left-to-right and arching up.  The pin at right has a line Path Constraint that moves down and to the right.  Still image 01 shows the retracted position.  Still image 02 shows the animation at 50%, the Fowler hinge follows nicely the path of the left most pin quite well.  Notice no movement occurs in the down direction that would be imposed by the right pin - if it worked/was set up properly.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Drawing Multiple Angled Holes In Block

Apr 8, 2013

I need to create a adaptor to go from one 96 hole array pattern to a smaller 96 hole array pattern.  The pattern gets smaller in both X and Y.  This would go from vertical hole to angled hole back to vertical hole.  One or both of the vertical sections could be removable to allow this to be a drilled part.  The center section would be a solid block.

Since each hole will be at a different angle (in two different planes) it seems like I would need to create a separate plane for each hole and extrude from that plane.  In addition to being error prone, this would take a large amount of time.  Is there an easier way?

It would be straightforward to create a block with points for the large 96 hole array on top and the small 96 hole array on the bottom.  Is there some kind of point to point method of creating a hole at an angle?  A construction line could be drawn point to point but is there a way to make a hole from that?

AutoCAD Inventor :: No Parameter Name For Offset Plane

Jun 22, 2012

All previous releases of Inventor before 2013 would display the name of the parameter that controls the offset value of a plane. While editing an offset plane you could see the name either in the title of the pop up or by holding your cursor over the parameter value. In release 2013 I have been unable to find the parameter name anywhere when editing the plane. I have a lot of equations in my models. Being able to track down bugs is difficult enough without not knowing what parameter I'm looking at.

Is there a setting I need to turn on/off to get the parameter name to display again?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Cut Two Circular Profiles On XZ Plane

Jan 23, 2013

This sheet metal part has two bends, and was created with a lofted flange feature on the XY plane:

It was then cut by two circular profiles on the XZ plane:

When the flat pattern is created, it seems to work just fine as long as the diameter of the circular cut is below a certain value.  Once the diameter is increased beyond this value, the flat pattern returns a cryptic error and does not compute:

I know that the bend geometry does NOT pass through the bend axis,  so I am left guessing at what the real problem is.  I have attached the part.  The part currently has the parameter called "Tank_ID" set to 500 in.  To see the error, change the value of this parameter to 600 in.  For me, the flat pattern breaks between the values of 512 and 513 in.

Why does the flat pattern work at 512, but not at 513, since there is no significant difference in geometry?
