AutoCAD Inventor :: Unable To Retrieve Dimensions On Angled Section?
Nov 1, 2013
I am using Inventor 2011. I have recently just dimensioned my entire drawing using only the retrieve command, but now that the angles of my section views have changed the command is not working. In this example you can see section B will allow me to pull up dimensions (not sure why they are not aligned) but section A will not allow to me to pull anything.
In Inventor 2010 is it possible to retrieve the dimensions from the weld in an idw without rewriting this dimensions? Now when hitting weldings in idw the symbol stays empty.
I am trying to retrieve dimensions from an assembly. The features that I want were created in the assembly itself, not on the original parts in the assembly. I can manually dimension some of the features, but there are others that I need to retrieve. When I retrieve dimensions from the assembly, I am only given the original dimensions for the parts.
I want to retrieve dimensions in a drawing with ilogic. I found some code but how to translate it into a ilogic code.
I always use assembly models in these drawing and all the parameters have unique names. So in my drawing i want to retrieve some specific dimensions in a view.
I am using Inventor 2012. I have a subassembly that has two parts. I was able to dimension each part by retrieving dimensions. This subassembly also is an iAssembly. The main part stays the same but the second part changes.
My problem is, I had to make the main part an iPart because in one of the subassemblies, the main part has an added feature. After making the main part an iPart, all my dimensions in the subassembly drawing turned pink. I removed the dimensions and tried to retrieve them again but now I cannot. There are many dimensions I cannot manually dimension.
Is there away to retrieve dimensions from an iPart in a subassembly?
I am trying to publish a i-part to the library. I follow the process and everything and it is suppose to be successful (see attached). But after that, I can't retrieve this item in the library.
I have a section view of tapered part and I want to get the dimension (radius) but it is not possible. Is there any other option aside from having a perpendicular section view? How to customize the 2D drawing setting?
Is this possible ?!! Ive been working in various CAD packages and have found this to be an issue every time. Say for instance you want to bolt through a wall onto a tapered flange, how can you select a non parallel face as the start or finish surface?
I need to accurately position a point on an angled plane, but the question is how?
I've generated the required planes, the axis to revolve the angled plane around, and of course, the angled plane itself. (See attacment)
I now need to position the point coincident to the generated axis/plane and the angled plane. I have nothing to refer to so I can't project any geometry from any face. (The vee-shaped recess is generated after the slot is extruded and its position is the resut of the breakout against the OD).
I am trying to make an angled tray in sheet metal by am having some trouble getting it to work out. I was unable to find an example of this type anywhere. I tried doing it as a sheet metal part first then gave up, created a standard part and shelled it. My problem is ripping the corners.
Im new in Inventor and I have a problem with creating a hole through two parts beacause they are a bit angled. Im creating the holes part by part and Im using the work point method. But unfortunately this is the result:
Im wondering if there is any other methods so I can get the holes coinciding?
I need to create a adaptor to go from one 96 hole array pattern to a smaller 96 hole array pattern. The pattern gets smaller in both X and Y. This would go from vertical hole to angled hole back to vertical hole. One or both of the vertical sections could be removable to allow this to be a drilled part. The center section would be a solid block.
Since each hole will be at a different angle (in two different planes) it seems like I would need to create a separate plane for each hole and extrude from that plane. In addition to being error prone, this would take a large amount of time. Is there an easier way?
It would be straightforward to create a block with points for the large 96 hole array on top and the small 96 hole array on the bottom. Is there some kind of point to point method of creating a hole at an angle? A construction line could be drawn point to point but is there a way to make a hole from that?
I am trying to verify the bending strength of a solid part. Need to calculate the section modulus on certain cross section. Don't know how to do it using inventor.
In the drawing view below, I want to section the green assembly only within the red section. I've tried this with a breakout and it doesn't work. There doesn't seem to be a way to exclude the green from the section and yet include it in the breakout.

In the past we filled in our changes, we did on the part, in the iProperties of the IDW. In the IDW we use some Custom iProperties for this. That's not usefull because you want this data in the 3D-model. Now I have written some code to automate this, which works really great. This code works in the IPT as well as the IDW. But what I want to achieve is: When my IPT is the active document, I want to read out the iProperties from the IDW to check if there is already filled some of these properties, because I have to deal with 'old' documents as well.
So my basis question is: How can I read out iProperties from an IDW into the IPT. I have found lots of solutions which go the opposite direction, IPT -> IDW. I want IDW -> IPT.
I am unable to see the dimensions that I measure using power dimensions as per the attachment on the drawings itself. If i want to see it, I have to select the green line, and right click and select the line and select standard as the dimension style. I did not have to previously do all of this.
I trying to change dimensions but they will not change.I add a block and then try to dimension it against another block but when i go to change the dimension it just remains the original dimension size. E.g. it currently is 2.895 and i go to make it 3.00 but it does not accept the new dimensions....is there a setting i could check?
I have created a pipe using sweep through 2 planes and 3d sketch. I want a specific bend on that pipe to be extracted for drawing purpose. How do I do that ?
