I have a section view of tapered part and I want to get the dimension (radius) but it is not possible. Is there any other option aside from having a perpendicular section view? How to customize the 2D drawing setting?

I don't ever remember not being able to place these types of dimensions.
I am using Inventor 2011. I have recently just dimensioned my entire drawing using only the retrieve command, but now that the angles of my section views have changed the command is not working. In this example you can see section B will allow me to pull up dimensions (not sure why they are not aligned) but section A will not allow to me to pull anything.

In a .ipt sketch you can right click and the pop-up menu has an option to show the dimensions in different forms. I do not get this in an assembly sketch.
I do not know if this is me or not. It's just curious that it does not do that.

I would like it to look like an angular dimension without having to use a text override. For some strange reason I can not print and dimension lines with an angle reference. I get the error "Cannot find or create the font AerialMT".
However, I have this font on my machine. Triple checked and installed it again.
Edited a corridor section. Hit some button (not sure what) now I can't get back to my regular view. If I select the "Top" view, now all that shows up is one contour, and the top of one cross section, like it's only showing stuff that is at one elevation.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI created sample lines and section views for my road projects. I set all line works to appropriate layers except for "Segment and Points". Cannot change from layer "0".
I right click the existing grade on my section views, click "edit section style", click "display", then change the layer of Segments and points and click "OK", "apply".
Go back to my drawing, verify the layer but still layer "0". I tried so many times, read the manual, call friends but no luck. I am tempted to "explode" my drawing.
To create realistic threads, I simply sweep the thread profile along a helix with Align set to “no”. (This actually creates the negative of the thread, which must then be subtracted from a cylinder.)
When I attempt to follow the same procedure using a conical helix to produce tapered pipe threads, however, it does not work. When I set Align to “no”, I get an error message saying “cannot sweep the profile”. If I try it with Align set to “yes”, the profile is twisted and the result does not look like threads.
Any way around this issue, or is this a fundamental limitation of AutoCAD?
Is there a way I can create dynamic blocks that taper to a square point? I work with different styles of lattice towers and monopoles and I would like to create a dynamic block of a couple styles and have them taper with the correct scale.
