Illustrator :: Change Vanishing Plane 1Point Perspective
Dec 3, 2012
I am in some trouble in the one-point perspective in Illustrator. I am making a scene where I need the vanishing point to be on the left and the vanishing plane on the right, in one-point perspective. I just moved the vanishing point & plane where I want it to be, but Illustrator still thinks the plane is on the left, so when ever I type something and move it onto the vanishing plane, it becomes mirrored. How do I go about this? Can I change the settings for the planes or do I have to reflect the text each and every time?

How do I get this back? I have the perspective selection tool selected too BTW.
This is what I have:

I have been working with the perseptive tool for a couple of hours now. I've watched 3 or 4 videos, and read writting directions but I can't for the lift of me figure out what's going on. I am using the perspective grid and selection tool. I can get my objects onto the left plane only. When I try to select for the right plain (2) or the horizontal grid (3) it keeps moving my shape back onto the left plane. I've tried using the icon to select the areas and I have tried using keyboard shortcuts. What am I doing wrong?

Watching the movie in Digital Tutors: Understanding Perspective Drawing in Illustrator - Movie 6: 7:20
In this movie, and in Adobe instructions, it says that to change a planes position onto a particluar point of an object from its default position of 0 one needs to place cursor over the point that you wish the plane to come to and hold shift down. When I do this, the plane I want to move to that point disappears. When I make it reappear, it is in its original position of 0.
how to make it move where I want it to?

I have a tall rectangle I want to place on the horizontal plane of the perspective grid.
Clicking that plane in the widget, or slecting the rectangle and hitting 2, results in the rectangle oriented towards the right vanishing point (or 2:00). I need it to point the other way, toward the left vanishing point (to 10:00).
Is there some way to force an object to do that?

I'm really wanting to utilize CS5's powerful 3D capabilites, but am at a loss on how to properly align 3d items in perspective to the filter Vanishing Point's planes.
I'm building a digitial room setting, and want to place a simply painting (extrusion created with Repousse, texture layer merged down onto 3D layer) on the wall in proper perspective, with an extruded canvas like so:
This took plenty of time to accomplish. Nudging, moving, stretching, etc.. You can see my gridlines of course there created by the Vanishing Point filter. Is there an easier or quicker way to match up 3d objects within PS to these perspective planes other than doing it visually this way?

This is driving my crazy, I have been using vanishing point to copy a slab of granite onto a counter top to see what it would look like with my kitchen decor.
Everything was going along just fine and I got an island countertop covered using the right plane for it but when i tried to repeat the process for another section of counter I can't get it to work.
I make the grids just where I want them and include the island counter in the grid so I will have a source to copy from.? When I click on the Marquee tool for selecting a section of the source and then click and drag it to where I want it there is nothing in the selection.
I can see the rectangle of the Marquee moving as I drag but when I get to the target area and release it there is nothing there.

I am designing an advertisement and I wish to make a line of text "pop out" from a vanishing point just below the text.I had considered playing around with the Perspective Grid, but even if I could get the extrusion working this way, the text would have to "lean" back.

I want to crop with a perspective change in PSCS 4 Extended. Whenever I add a crop outline, the Perspective checkbox is disabled.
I thought that the way to change perspective was to make the crop selection and then check the Perspective checkbox and then adjust the proportions but something is strange.

Is there any "cure" for this?

I have a photo of a coffee table that's on an angle. I want to rotate this table so it looks like you're standing in front of it and seeing the front. The problem is the Rotate, Perspective, and Map Object tools don't seem to be able to do it. I also tried a plug-in called EZ Perspective, but that also doesn't seem to work.
At this point, I'm guessing you can't change the perspective of an image (up, down, left, right) because it's flat and not 3D, and no program knows what the other sides would look like. Is that correct, or can I do what I want and just don't know how, yet?
Here's a photo of the image:

The picture below is a (sadly), .jpeg and I would like to be able to change its dimensions from 800X600 to 958x198However, when I use Ctrl + T to change the size (of course), the sun (most of all) becomes an ellipse. Is there a way that I can change the dimensions of this image without losing the perspective?
Like maybe a way to extend the clouds? I've read about the Clone tool but it leaves seams and aside from that it looks like the image belongs on Santas island of misfit images . Any way, maybe what I am asking is not possible at all but I thought I would ask nonetheless. I've tried keywords up the wahzoo in the FAQ's & forum but have come up empty handed.

I am working on 3d model of interior and I have two problems. I am trying to made similar model as it is on the first image.
After setting all render properties and turning on sky and illuminations my view on object switch from isometric to perspective view.
Is there any way to change it to isometric view so the point of view do not change position at the time of changing, because I find out the way to return it to isometric but then the point of view that was placed inside of room is moved outside and I can't render object that was inside.
Also I can't set white background as it is on the first image. Second image is my attempt that is made inside of the room.

I like to attach a .aim or import a inventor DWG into a section and a plan in autocad.
But how do I select the right orientation on import? The default Inventor view is a sideview and won't work on a plan.
Right now it seems like I either have to go into 3D model view and rotate the object or have to change the orientation Inventor for plan and then reorientate it for section...

Possible to change/set the work plane while sketching the path of an in-place model? This guardrail extension is an example of where I would have liked to change the work plane while sketching the path because the path shifted planes. I believe you can do this in the family editor, but I could not get it to work in the in-place modeler. What I ended up doing (as an experiment) was to create masses and picked their edges to get the path I wanted. I would love to be able to have more control over the work plane, like defining the workplane by a face and then being able to move it relative to the face selected.

I'm working on a sticker with a Big Ben style clock on it. I've created it using the 2-point perspective ability in Illustrator. Unfortunately, I've decided that I want it to feel "taller" than when I started, so I need to shift the perspective. However, when I use the Perspective Grid Tool and adjust the ground or horizon line, it only adjusts the grid, not the artwork. Is there a way to have the artwork adjust with the grid so that I can move the artwork around in 3D space to find the right perspective?
