In Photoshop, you can transform a layer by pressing ctrl while you click in the border of the object. I would like to do it on Illustrator CS6, is there anything like this tool available?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using the perspective grid to make a 3d looking building. I want to use a brick pattern for the sides of the building. I am having trouble makeing this look right when the perspective is skewed a lot (see right brick wall), the left brick wall isn't too bad. I used an envelope mesh 1 2 rows and 1 column. Is this the only way to preserve pattern when skeweing an object?

I am attempting to wrap some 2D text around an object, which has perspective. See example below:
The above is my attempt at wrapping the word "NEIGHBORHOOD" around the object. What I did was Object > Envelope Distort > Make with Mesh... and just approximated how it should look by using a combination of guides. There has got to be a better, more precise way of doing this in illustrator.
I have been following this tutorial: [URL] .... in which artwork is mapped to the perspective grid.
Towards the end of the video (7:00) a sign is mapped to the left grid then moved perpendicular along the right grid ... this is achieved by holding down the tilde key.
When I hold down the tilde key and move the object (which is selected with the perspective selection tool, with the correct grid selected ) it does not map it perpendicular as in the video.
I have deleted my illustrator preferences file (in case any settings were causing this feature not to work). Also if I create a new object and press the tilde key and drag I can create multiple instances, so the tilde key at least in this case is being recognized.
i made this vector on 3p perspective using an image background that was on 3d, how can i bring this 3p perspective vector to 1p perspective in a way that the vector will look 2d rather than 3d that it looks like now, i have tried to copy from on plane to another but it still looks the same, it doesnt transform.

I have a line of type which obeys the Perspective on one Plane, but I want it going the other way : From my image can you see it's coming from left and getting bigger to foreground. I want it starting on the right face of the Perspective grid, but it won't obey

I am making a scene where I need the vanishing point to be on the left and the vanishing plane on the right, in one-point perspective. I just moved the vanishing point & plane where I want it to be, but Illustrator still thinks the plane is on the left, so when ever I type something and move it onto the vanishing plane, it becomes mirrored. How do I go about this? Can I change the settings for the planes or do I have to reflect the text each and every time?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a to access the Alt key screen functions (the quick Eyedrop, (holding Alt and click the color) and the Zoom in and Zoom out (holding alt alt and scrolling with the mouse wheel) with other key instead of alt, for instance the Ctrl key?
It is really annoying to me to deal with it, because in my shortcut configuration I use the keys "Q" and "W" to increace and decrease the size of the brush and the keys "A" and "S" to increase and decrease the hardness of the brush. What happens is that when I hold Alt to pick a color or to zoom, it calls the menu bar's shortcuts (it underlines the menu shortcuts) , so If I do so and press "S" it calls the Select menu, which is not what I'm trying to do.
In Gimp, the pick a color and zoom in and zoom out actions are configured to work with the Ctrl key instead of Alt, so the shortcut menus are not an issue. Is there anyway to switch it to Ctrl? Is there anyway to make the Alt stop calling the menu bar?
as the place I work at recently upgraded their PS version to CS6 and basically rendered my Intuos 4 completely useless because of the damn Alt/Ctrl modifier, which seems to control the "drag to create a copy of the layer function" regardless of the tool you're using.
It might be specific for my region, but Alt+Ctrl or Alt Gr modifer is used in order to reach certain keystokes, such as ], [, @, so when by default the brush size function on my wacom is linked to a "[" (alt+ctrl+f windows function), my tablet completely flips out and starts sending a mix of Alt, Ctrl and Alt + Ctrl function controls instead of the [ which I'm trying to use.
Alt + w/e functions work just fine, but I can't use any modifer using the alt+ctrl+w/e combo that involves creating a symbol, even while using the keyboard. For example, I can use the alt+ctrl+z command to undo something, but if I linked my brush tool to a "§", which is invoked by calling the alt+ctrl+m windows command, it will act as a normal ctrl + m command and open the curves window.
I often have lines drawn on top of other lines and need to cycle thru them to select the correct one. I always did this before upgrading to 2013 by holding the CTRL key and clicking on the lines. That doesn't seem to work on this version. I saw some recomenedations to hold the CTRL key and space bar at the same time but that still doesn't seem to work.It would be a huge time waste if I have to turn off layers everytime to just get to 1 line that I need to offset.

I made a Fork at an angle which I've decided I don't like (it took me forever to get it just right), and when I change its placement it looks quite odd and loses its proper perspective/shape.
20 years using illustrator and for the first time, I don't know why but it suddenly became impossible to copy an object by dragging it while pressing "alt". And I've lost the dragging along the grid locking by maintaining caps pressed...

View 7 Replies View RelatedI want to crop with a perspective change in PSCS 4 Extended. Whenever I add a crop outline, the Perspective checkbox is disabled.
I thought that the way to change perspective was to make the crop selection and then check the Perspective checkbox and then adjust the proportions but something is strange.
I'm working on a picture of a coffee table in CS2 Photoshop. The table is facing to the left and I want to change it's perspective to face straight forward. How do I make this change?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn the earlier versions of acad the "ctrl-w" toggled object snap tracking on or off, but in 2012 it is changed to Selection Cycling on or off. This is quite irritating, because I got used to toggle object snap tracking with it and still automatically use it for that purpose. But I tried my best in the user interface to find it and change it or even disable it. But can't seem to find it anywhere or change it for that matter.

Can I change that to display milmeters? I am aware that it can be changed in the rulers, but up where it says X, Y, then width and height, it shows inches. I have a photo of a coffee table that's on an angle. I want to rotate this table so it looks like you're standing in front of it and seeing the front. The problem is the Rotate, Perspective, and Map Object tools don't seem to be able to do it. I also tried a plug-in called EZ Perspective, but that also doesn't seem to work.
At this point, I'm guessing you can't change the perspective of an image (up, down, left, right) because it's flat and not 3D, and no program knows what the other sides would look like. Is that correct, or can I do what I want and just don't know how, yet?
