View 6 Replies View RelatedThis is my first time trying to use Xgen in our pipeline so I am hoping this is just user error. I have a Xgen discription that populates a plane with rocks. I have gone through all of the suggested set-up steps in the user manual for batch rendering.
When the files render out all or some of my rocks will dissapear for 1 frame and then come back spuratically There doesn't seem to be a ryhm or reason to which packets or which machine it happens on. I have re-rendered the scene twice now and each time the anomolies occur on different frames.

I am using Autocad 2004 and can't upgrade.
I want to add the sheet set capability to Autocad 2004. I want to plot groups of drawings. It looks like the sheet set command of autocad 2005 would allow me to do this. But the command isn't available in 2004.
Im using AutoCAD 2012 and I have lost the capability to dock my Layer Properties Manager to the left or right.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a 2D pipeline layout. Nodes on the pipe are known by their X and Z coordinates. A FORTRAN written code calculated the nodes displacement in 2 direction of x and z.
I have to draw the nodes, connect them to each other to obtain pipeline layout and then draw the x and z deformations separately to show the deformed shape.
Input format is like
PN x y z
1 0 0 0
2 0 0 10
10 0 0 100
20 10 0 100
40 40 0 100
I though ACAD might be an easy tool to do this. I am trying to use MacLee's or Geobuilder's LISP routine to import the x and z coordinates into CAD.
MAcLee's routine doesn't recognize node numbers at the beginning. So I shifted into Geobuilder's rotine. Still I am trying to use but with no lock till now.
Any easier method for drawing these simple stuff, coordinates and deformation? Is it possible easily in ACAD? My other limitation is that ACAD is the only software I have in my hands.
At our office We use alignments to designate the pipeline. At our pi.'s or points of intersection We have the autocrat _wipeout circle. It works fine in c3d 2011, but for some reason when We take them into c3d 2012 the wipeout circle goes under the red line instead of above. We have checked through the properties and can not find a display order. Otherwise We are currently inserting a wipeout circle and having to place on At every intersection.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have objects in a layer and I want them displayed as wireframe. The problem is that it seems that I can't do that when in Nitrous diplay mode!
I go to the layer properties, choose wireframe in the upper right corner and set all the objects' display properties to "By Layer". And nothing happens! They are still displayed shaded. When I switch to Direct3D display mode however everything works perfectly fine as it should.
There's something I've noticed with Nitrous. Many things in Max don't work fine when it's used - Xrefs can't be displayed as box, edges are breaking up (non-continuous) and tend to disappear when at the periphery of an object. And now, layer properties don't work as well? What gives?! I thought Nitrous was the recommended display driver (at least that's what it says in Preferences) but it turns out that important functionality is broken when you use it so you have to revert back to the good old Direct3D.
when I am in Nitrous display mode the Xref scene functionality is broken. I can load an xref scene but can't make it display as box. If I check the "Box" field nothing happens. Everything works ok though when in Direct3D or OpenGL display mode.

I'm not a graphic artist, but I do have a task I would like to accomplish, so a couple of quick questions?
It's been over 10 years since I experimented with graphics software of any kind other than resize and/or convert from one format to another.
Scenario to illustrate my question:
I create a new graphic, of X by Y proportions. Create a black circle in the center of the graphic. Save graphic.
When I import the graphic into a document, web page, email composition window, etc., I would like only the black circle to display when the background is a color other than white. IOW, I want the unused/blank part of the graphic to be transparent.
I've found the online manual to be confusing to follow, since I can't easily "thumb" through the pages to see a picture of the effect I want to accomplish, and I'm not sure of the correct terminology.
I found a PDF manual for 2.4, are there instructions that cover this? I'm not really interested in printing it, or having it printed. If the manual were for 2.6, I would consider having it printed.
A feature notably absent from the Oil Paint filter is any way to temporarily disable the effect (e.g., not preview it).I happen to like using Oil Paint to make refllections in the surface of water smoother and more "liquid" (which involves turning off the "Shine"), and it would really be nice if I could easily gauge the amount of the effect easily by blinking back and forth between original and processed image with a quick "disable preview" functionality.
With most standard filters, one can either uncheck a [ ] Preview box, and/or click the mouse button down on the image to temporarily show what the image is like without the effect.Yes, I know I can turn the Stylization down to 0.1 and see how a very minimal amount of the effect can be applied. And I can look at the original image in Photoshop proper, but of course that can't be zoomed while the Oil Paint filter is active.
Also, the zooming / panning seems kind of stiffly implemented. In summary, the more or less standard and expected filter features I'd like to see added to this (new class of) GPU-accelerated filters are:Preview/No Preview capability. It doesn't have to update Photoshop, just the preview display in the filter itself. I suggest a [ ] Preview checkbox and/or an on-mouse-click temporary effect disable.
Modal click and drag Zooming vs. Panning - i.e., based on a Zoom or Pan function selected (e.g., via an icon along the left) vs. having to hold modifier keys down. I personally would want it set to Zoom by default, not Pan. Since the filter has scroll bars (a Good Thing), I would have thought Zoom would have been a better default as it is. I have implemented these things in my own GPU-accelerated plug-ins, so I know that all the infrastructure Adobe needs to support them is already in there. These changes are controls only and should be trivial to implement.
I'm designing some screens for an retina display iPad and I just want the illustrator document on my 27" thunderbold monitor (at 109 ppi) to have the same physical dimensions as the physical iPad screen (7.75" x 5.81"). Maybe its so obvious that no one talks about how to do it. I do feel a little embarassed that I haven't figured this out.
Regardless of whenther I enter the doucment dimensions in inches or in pixels the resulting document is never the same pysicial size as the iPad's screen. And since Illustrator deals in vectors it doesn't have any notion of PPI that I can use to bring inches and pixels into alignement so that what I see on my monitor is the same physical size as what's in the iPad.
All i want is the AI document displayed on my monitor to be the exact same size as my iPad's screen.
Will your creative suite be receiving an upgrade to make it display properly on the new retina MacBooks?
View 5 Replies View Relatedi'm actually starting to design and code the animation part of the pipeline for my studio. So if you have a given shot in a given version, you have a bunch of animations for all characters/props, and you can publish a version of your animation and rollback your animation to older versions.I have two kinds animations exported : one "normal" and a geocache version also. For the geocache, I use Alembic and for the moment I'm pretty happy with the results.
For the "normal" version, i was thinking of using animImportExport module from maya. It seems to work fine, but then comes THE issue I remember having to discuss for hours in all the studios I've worked : what about the constraints?i have my character, for example Ogre_chr (group node) and i export all anim below that node and call it Ogre_chr_Shot101_v01.anim. But if there's a constraint outside the ogre, it won't be exported. I could take the anim of the object that is constraining and add it to my .anim, but imagine two characters interact with one same constraint : saving versions of both characters will cause issues when you play around with loading different versions of both characters.
When I select Map or click on the Geotag icon or the coordinates in Library, instead of the normal map display, I get a copy of the library view (grid, loupe, etc.) embedded inside the previous view as can be seen in the accompanying picture. This is apparently some problem in my set up (Win7 x64 Pro with NVIDIA GeForce GT220 Display Adapter.). It is likely a display driver issue, but I have updated my driver each time NVIDIA has sent out an update. I have my other copy of 5.3 on a MBP with Mavericks and it's working fine.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I click on an image and it appears on my second monitor, it appears sharp until my first monitor has updated for sharpness, at which point the second monitor goes off focus. If I then apply my normal sharpening preset, the image on the second monitor updates and remains focused.
It's not very important but a nuisance in that sometimes I do not need to apply sharpening. NB - it is not slowness in loading the image. LR5 and (RC2) work fast on my machine. No matter how long I leave the image on screen, it will not come to focus until I sharpen it.

How do you use the Retina Display in LR 4.3?
View 4 Replies View Relatedall of a sudden lightroom tells me "no photo selected " when I try to open a folder. All the folders are visible but the photos cannot be displayed.I am using lightroom 4.1..The last editing was done less then 12 hours ago without any problems.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been using Lightroom 3 for a number of years quite happily. My folders in Lightroom nicely reflected the folder names for their respective photo folders on my external drive. The top level folders were the years (e.g. 2012, 2013, etc) with subfolder names which reflected various photos taken that year e.g. Christmas 2013, Johnny's birthday, etc.
my last photo import my folder structure has changed in Lightroom and instead of showing the folder names it shows the number of photos in the folders. So instead of showing Christmas 2013 the folder name displays as 45 if there are 45 photos in the Christmas 2013 folder. The structure and hierarchy of the folders are still correct but the names have turned into numbers which is nonsensical and makes navigation between folders a headache.
my camera (Canon S95) has a sensor with 4:3 aspect ratio and thus saves all RAW files in this format. Additionally, the camera can automatically create JPGs with a cropped ratio (e.g. 3:2 or 16:9). This is very useful because you can see the target format already on the camera screen (with black bars on top and bottom), which facilitates the composition. However, when processing the photos on the big screen afterwards, it often also facilitates the photo to adjust the ratio a little bit and therefore use the additional information saved in the bigger 4:3 RAW file. This works very well with many of the freely available software tools.
The problem found in Lightroom is now that it only shows the RAW photo in the cropped format and up to know I have found no way to display or use the full RAW format. So my question is: Which settings do I have to change to use the full format? What do I need to change?
I have profiled my monitor and my printer. I can print from photoshop and prints match my display. When I print out of lightroom, they are not even close. I use the same printer profile and the program manages the color.
