Nov 14, 2012I would like to find the actual weight of a part in pounds.
I have attached one of the parts I would like to know the total pounds or ounces for. I’m using a specific material that I set in the Physical tab of iProperties.

Sep 16, 2013How can I remove the lines in the middle after I press and pull the objects.
Attached is the Untitle.jpg, to make more clearer to you. Blue is the wall and skyblue is the aquarium. I want the back and the front of the aquarium don't have any line in the middle but even I do shade command the fill of the color is still there. Cause if I explode and delete the line in the middle the colors that fill the aquarium are getting rid off See Untitled 2.Jpg to see what I mean. And also how can make the aquarium Untitle 3.jpg transparent?

The problem is that Sap2000 takes only polygon meshes (not solids) in 3d. The question is that how can i make a group of polygon meshes of the solid model that represents the structure.
(Since i am not an expert of Autocad, i will be glad if the solution is explained in a simple language.)
AutoCad 3D :: How To Produce 3D Solid To Dimension Proportion Of Light Weight Frame
Nov 21, 2013I've got this job at the moment, tasked with producing a 3D solid to dimension the proportions of a light-weight frame for a facade canopy/awning.
The process is to take the facade designer's wire frame model and produce a series of 3D solids 'SHELLED' to various thicknesses.
So, to begin with... I would like to pick a few brains about what method you would use to produce a 3D solid from the wire frame (which I have traced with polylines, and produced surfaces for each facet). Eventually I intend to SHELL the solid to contract 1.2mm and 28mm.

Up to now, I had just been creating cubes and slicing them to each facet of the shape... which was fine, but this shape is a bit more complicated than the previous ones.
AutoCad :: Calculating Area With 2010?
Jul 15, 2012When I am trying to calculate area, i got wrong answer. At very first i thought it calculates area with inches (iam in metric sys), but then i checked options and its answer should be in mm, but I am getting wrong answer. In my object (which is rectangular) there's many other things, like hatch, buildings and so on. Maybe this can abstract for direct answer, because when i draw just a simple square or rectangle.

Jan 21, 2013I received a cross section file that was created in Micro Station and need to calculate the cut and fill of the project. There is no way to get the 3D files the cross sections were created from. Everything in the file is exploded and flat.
I was going to hatch under and above the existing grade to find the cut and fill and then thought about the scale of the cross sections. In model space the cross sections are 1=1 H and 1=10 V. When I do a hatch and get the area it is giving it to me way high. If I just divide by 10 I don't think that is right either since the hatch areas are very irregular.
Scale the cross section vertical down by 10 and don't change it horizontally. I don't know if this is possible.
Somehow set the horizontal and vertical scale and hatch above and under to get the areas. I don't know if this is possible either.

Feb 8, 2012The weight of the parts is correct but if the quantity is greater than 1 in a weldment the BOM collumm does not do the math and multiply the quantity X the weight. If it is a formula what is the syntax?

AutoCAD 2010 :: How To Convert Solid To Polyline With Mechanical 2010
Nov 8, 2012I'm using AutoCAD Mechanical 2010 and received a .DXF file that contains 'solid' objects. Unfortunately the next tool in my workflow doesn't understand 'solids' only polylines (and a few other basic shapes like circles, lines, etc). Is there some way to convert the object in AutoCAD?
I tried the 'boundary' command but when it asks to 'Pick Points' and I click inside the solid, it always gives the error 'Valid hatch boundary not found'.
What am I missing here?

Apr 18, 2012im making a cnc milling machine and need to make some things to make. This is a clamp between the magazine and the barrle of a shotgun and i made the drawing in 2d to start whit and then used the EXTRUDE to make it inn to 3d.
As you can see on the top of the object there is no surface and the same goes for the buttom. How can i make a surface?

AutoCad 3D :: How To Extend Solid Object
Jan 22, 2012how to extend a solid object. You can see at the picture that I attached what I mean and also I will try to explain. I draw a fence 1.5 m high. At one specific part of the yard I want the fence to be 2.0 m high. So I moved upper part (horisontal) of the fence to the height of 2.0 m. Now I want the 2 vertical poles to "extend" to that height. Now I can delete those poles and use extend command from the bottom and then use silce command. I was just wondering if their is a command that I can use to grab the pole as it is now and pull it up to the new height if that is possible without erasing it.

Aug 31, 2012I have the 3d model of a ship, but it has no surfaces or solids, just lines. I want to create some solids based on those lines.
It's better if i attach the dwg to the post and explain what i want to do:
- in the file attached there are some lines marked with red and blue
- i want to create a solid/3dobject by extruding/lofting the red lines along the blue lines.
In the drawing only a few lines are colored, for better understanding. I tried with loft, but it only creates some surfaces. The point is that i need a solid or a 3d object.

Oct 14, 2013If I modify a 3D solid and it is left with two seperate pieces it is still one solid piece, even though there are two parts. My question is: What if only need one of those two sides? If I explode the object and delete the one side I cannot change the remaining object into a 3D solid. It remains as surface object.
How can make an object into a 3D solid after exploding it? I belive there is a simple command like union or some other but I can't remember.
