Lightroom :: Exporting Two Of Same File When Only One Is Selected?

Jan 20, 2014

I just recently started having an issue with lightroom 5.3, I import a raw file into lightroom then edit it in photoshop (through lightroom) then i save the file through photoshop and it appears next to the original file in lightroom. When I export the edited image it also exports the original unedited file as well? how to change this? Its very annoying having the original copy of the file exported as well.

Photoshop :: Exporting File Multiple Times With Different Layers Selected

Jun 18, 2009

I have this file with multiple layers of text.

I want to print the file with these layers selected individually, so that if I have two text layers "Cow" and "Dog", I get two similar images with different text.

How would i automate this? It would take a lot of work to select each layer and save the files individually.

Lightroom :: File Is Not Moved To Selected Destination

Jul 30, 2010

Recently upgraded to LR3. When moving a number of files from one folder to another, about every third time, it moves all but one file and I get this message about the unmoved file.  If I then try to move just that one remaining file, it moves it fine.

Lightroom :: Error - File Could Not Be Moved To Selected Location

Nov 8, 2013

I get an error code "file could not be moved to selected location" when trying to move an image or a folder from one hard drive to another within Lightroom.

I am migrating from a Windows-based PC to an iMac. I successfully used Lightroom to move all my images and catalogs from the PC hard file to a USB attached hard file.  I was able to go to the iMac and move the Lightroom Catalog from USB attached drive to the Apple Macintosh drive. I was able to bring up Lightroom with moved Lightroom Catalog and work with all of my images. Then using Lightroom I was unable to move the images to the Macintosh hard drive without getting the error code above.

Lightroom :: How To Limit File Size Of Photos Selected In LR3 For Photomerge In PS5

Nov 8, 2011

Is there a simple way to limit the file size of the photos selected in LR3 for a photomerge in PS5?

I have found that without limiting the size, the panoramas generated are very large - 1GB or greater.

I've found an work around by opening the photos in Bridge and then in Camera Raw where I can reduce the file size before using PS5 for photomerge.  After I've done this, it's a bit of a hassle to get the panorama back into LR3.  The benefit of this approach is that it speeds up the processing significantly and downstream with any subsequent processing since the files are just large and not ginormus.

If this isn't possible, this seems like a good idea for LR4.

Lightroom :: 4.1 - Difference Between Exporting And Printing To File?

Aug 12, 2012

I'm using LR4.1 on OSX 10.6.8. I convert my NEFs to DNGs at import, do my edits in LR. Most of the time when I want to create output it's for screen use. I use "Export" and produce JPGs.

But when I'm preparing files for printing at the lab, I use the Print module, and Print to File, because I like to create a JPG where the image size is smaller than the paper size, for framing purposes. For example, I use the Print module to output a JPG where the "cell size" is 11x14 but the "custom file dimensions" are 12x18, then I have the lab use 12x18 paper, leaving me a white border on my print that makes it easier to mat and frame.

Two questions, really.

1. Does LR do anything differently as it creates a JPG, depending on whether you use Export or "Print to File"? I'm assuming not, but just wondering.

2. Is there a way to do what I want to do -- create a JPG where the picture is one size but the paper size is larger -- through the Export dialogue (like ideally, through an export preset) or do I indeed have to go through the Print module to do this?

No emergency here, my method is working for me. (Though using an export preset to do what I'm doing, rather than having to go through the Print module, would be a little quicker, I suppose.)

Lightroom :: 4 - Exporting Photos Into JPEG File

Dec 5, 2012

I recently upgraded to lightroom 4 and I am having issues exporting my photos into a jpeg file. Lightroom is decreasing the size of my photo significantly, make them only about an 8 x 10 size and some as little as 3x5. I have tried everything I can think of, and it works as a tiff file, but for some reason it shrinks the picture on jpeg.

Lightroom :: 4 - Can't Get Required File Dimension When Exporting

Jan 23, 2013

I am new to Lightroom 4 and are having some problems exporting certain file dimensions. I have taken some pictures for a friend who wants to use them on her website. When importing the photos I converted them to dng. I have exported different file dimensions such as 320x240 and 640x480 without any problems. Now she asks for 950 x 340. I can enter the dimensions and export it, but when I check the dimensions on the exported photos I get e.g. 513x340.

Lightroom :: Exporting File Name To Raw Data Metadata?

May 9, 2012

At one time I was able to export a file's original file name in the "Raw Data" area of the metadata. I seem to have lost that ability in LR 4. I find this useful when a client renames a file and then wants me to find the original. I would open the file in Photoshop (or even a word processor) and the original name would be in the Raw Data area in File Info.

When LR 4 imports the file the first time, it apparently still creates the xmp file with the file name at the end of <rdf:Description rdf:about="" field and it looks like: crs:RawFileName="_DSC6501.NEF">

At one time Lightroom exported that info. But now I seem to have lost that file name info, even with "Export All Metadata" selected.

This is how it would look in Photoshop's File Info:

<rdf:Description rdf:about=""
xmlns:crs="http://ns.adobe.com/camera-raw-settings/1.0/">
<crs:RawFileName>DSC_8466.NEF</crs:RawFileName>

Lightroom :: Getting Error The File Could Not Be Written When Exporting

When I attempt to export a group of approximately 50 photos from LR4, a window opens at the end of the process saying "The file could not be written" along with a list of approximately 10-15 NEF file names.  I have never had a problem exporting before, but I recently started storing my LR catalog and files on an external USB 3.0 drive.

CorelDRAW X6 :: Exporting Selected Only Artwork To EPS

May 29, 2012

Program: CorelDraw X6 64 bitOS: Windows 7 SP1 64 bit

I have problem when exporting selected only artwork to eps. The artwork itself contains standard fill objects with no strokes and no special effect on each object (drop shadow, powerclip, etc). On EPS Export dialog I change nothing, just clicked OK button.

The problem is there is no sign if the process success or fail. The file created only have zero bytes. The File>Exit menu is dimmed. When I try to close the document, it say:

Some of the documents could not be closed, because tasks are being performed in the background. Check the status bar of each opened document to see what tasks are being performed and their progress.

I can't close the document and exit the program, so I have to use Task Manager. Also if I continue to edit the artwork, i.e. selecting an object inside a group, the program crashed.

GIMP :: Exporting As BMP With Options Selected

Aug 20, 2013

The software that I use my GIMP images for requires that I export a bmp with the settings in the attached screenshot. I have two questions:

Is there a preset somewhere or perhaps an image type that I can select that will always export bitmaps with the Do not write color space information checked and 24bit R8 G8 B8 radio button selected?

Is there a way I can script this to be done as part of a python script?

These are the only image choices I have available.

These are the export options I need for my image to be visible in the software, I have to select these options every single time I do an export.

CorelDRAW X5 :: File Is Not Importable Using Selected Filter

Nov 3, 2013

I'm using Dropbox to synchronize my files with another computer and do backups.  Over the last three months I haven't been doing anything with my CorelDraw files but recently tried opening a file and found there was a problem.  When attempting to open a file, I get this error:

Either filename is not importable using the selected filter, or this format is not supported.

I thought it was related to Dropbox so I created a brand new file, saved it and was able to open it.  Dropbox sync'd the file and Dropbox gave an update message that Dropbox has updated the file to the most recent version.  Afterward, I wasn't able to open the file with CorelDraw anymore.

I'm using CorelDraw X5 and saving the file in X5 format.  Is there anything I can do to recover my files?

In previous versions, when in the file requester, with the File Type field focused, I could type the first letter of the format I wanted (ex. J for Jpeg), and it would select it. That was a nice little feature that sped up the saving process (...didn't have to open up the File Type pulldown, and scroll through the selections until I found the one I wanted).

Is that now gone in CS3 (extended), or is there some setting I can change to get that back?

GIMP :: How To Export Selected Paths To SVG File

What is a most convenient way to export selected paths to SVG file? GIMP provides only 2 options for the export: export only one - "active" - path, or export all paths. It's not very useful in my case. I have an image with several layers and a bunch of paths related to different layers. So I need to export only paths which "belong" to a selected layer, so to speak. Of course, I can edit SVG by hands, but I wonder if some decent tools there exist for this task.
