Recently upgraded to LR3. When moving a number of files from one folder to another, about every third time, it moves all but one file and I get this message about the unmoved file. If I then try to move just that one remaining file, it moves it fine.
View 3 RepliesI get an error code "file could not be moved to selected location" when trying to move an image or a folder from one hard drive to another within Lightroom.
I am migrating from a Windows-based PC to an iMac. I successfully used Lightroom to move all my images and catalogs from the PC hard file to a USB attached hard file. I was able to go to the iMac and move the Lightroom Catalog from USB attached drive to the Apple Macintosh drive. I was able to bring up Lightroom with moved Lightroom Catalog and work with all of my images. Then using Lightroom I was unable to move the images to the Macintosh hard drive without getting the error code above.
Picture Import Problem LR4.3 Win7: When importing from an SD card, the File Renaming and Destination options are available. But when importing from disk, they are not available. Why? Is there a work around or configuration problem?

- first the user is prompted to select a lwpolyline of a block entity
- then he is prompted to pick two destination points
I face problem with the sub-routine SegmentPts. It is supposed to return the coordinates of two vertexes on both sides of the picked point on a lwpolyline using entsel. But here in my program, when i am picking a point using entsel on a lwpolyline inside a block entity, it is not returning the two vertexes on both sides of the picked point. In stead, it returns some other points of the selected LWPOLYLINE. Why it is doing so? Where is the problem in my program?
It works fine with my other programs where i pick on a LWPOLYLINE entity. In this particular case, the LWPOLYLINE is inside a Block entity and the program is not returning correct points.

I moved a folder in Lightroom in the file pane, in Library mode and now Lightroom thinks they are missing. I looked for them in Finder and they aren't were they were and they aren't where I moved them too. I can't figure out how they just disappeared into the ether. The pictures are on a network drive, but I've done this before and Lightroom had no problems whatsoever.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have my pictures on an external HD, formatted to Windows (XP). On my WIN7 computer, I've imported the pictures from the ext HD, into LR5. But I can't delete a bad picture, only remove from catalog. When I try to delete, I get this message : "the file could not be moved to resycle bin". If I go to the folder in Windows I have no problem deleting the file.I Should mention, that a Macbook Air have been reading files from this ext HDD.

So, they got imported into the last folder I imported the previous set to. I want to move them to the proper folder, but I am afraid to use the "move" option because it says it will move the photos and then delete the previous folder. The folder has the previous set of pictures that I saved there and I don't want to lose them. How do I move a selective set of my photos from the folder to the new on I want them to reside in without losing the set that were in that folder previously and were saved properly?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just recently started having an issue with lightroom 5.3, I import a raw file into lightroom then edit it in photoshop (through lightroom) then i save the file through photoshop and it appears next to the original file in lightroom. When I export the edited image it also exports the original unedited file as well? how to change this? Its very annoying having the original copy of the file exported as well.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHaving recently swapped my old iMac for a new Retina MacBook Pro running OS X 10.9.1, I seem to be having some difficulty getting the new Mac to open Lightroom 5.3 when a memory card is inserted either into the SD card slot on the laptop itself or into the card reader of the monitor. I have no problems importing pictures into Lightroom if I open Import myself but I find it odd that cannot enable the same function as I had on the old iMac. Within the Lightroom preferences I have the option "Show import dialog when a memory card is detected" enabled. However, what I find really odd is that my old stalwart application for sorting this sort of stuff out, Image Capture, does not seem to recognise Lightroom. When I open this application with a memory card inserted I am unable to select Lightroom as an "Other" option from the "Import to" menu. see the screenshot below. what is causing Image Capture to dislike my fresh install of Lightroom (via Creative Cloud).
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy most recent photo import in Lightroom 4 unexpectedly changed destination. All previous imports appear in the LR "Folders" panel by date. This one appears under "Desktop" in that panel and places a blue folder of the images on my computer desktop. I do not want this! I deleted the images from lightroom, placed the folders in the trash and emptied it in order to attempt a re-import in the Folders location. LR said the files could not be read. It will only import the images as separate, dated folders appearing on my desktop. I did not purposefully change anything. Can I move these two dated folders into the Folder's column and get them off my desktop?

I have been using a trial version of LR 4 and would like to know if LR can use the format of "MM-DD-YY" for the subfolder of the destination folder. My many years of files are organized by the "YYYY" top folder then "MM-YY" then by date of shooting, "MM-DD-YY" within the corresponding month. Is this possible or must I continue to rename the folders after import?

That doesn't seem to be there now. In any case, I want LR to import to the new destination all the time, not just as a one-off. My HD is full and I can't keep moving files manually.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a working "watched folder", established through Lightroom's auto-import settings. When I place an image into that folder, it is imported into my lightroom catalog.
However, if I put a folder of images into that watched folder (i.e. "James and Stephanie" is put into a "wedding" folder), nothing happens. I do not want all of my images in one single folder; that's why I have Lightroom, so they can be organized in folders but collected in a database.
I also do not understand why Lightroom wants to move auto-imported images into a destination folder.
I would like to drop a folder into the "watched folder" and have Lightroom import (without moving the image) into my catalog.
I was surprised to not find this issue in Internet searches; is it dreadfully obvious, or is there a better way that I'm not familar with?
Is there a simple way to limit the file size of the photos selected in LR3 for a photomerge in PS5?
I have found that without limiting the size, the panoramas generated are very large - 1GB or greater.
I've found an work around by opening the photos in Bridge and then in Camera Raw where I can reduce the file size before using PS5 for photomerge. After I've done this, it's a bit of a hassle to get the panorama back into LR3. The benefit of this approach is that it speeds up the processing significantly and downstream with any subsequent processing since the files are just large and not ginormus.
If this isn't possible, this seems like a good idea for LR4.
Since transferring my photo files from my hard drive to an external drive(without telling lightroom) I have completely lost all connections between lightroom and the new destination (my external drive). There is no sign of anything at all in Lightroom. It shows 0 photos, my preferences seem gone, and it is as though I have just loaded up lightroom for the very first time. Do I need to start from scratch and reimport my photos or is there some way I can retreive/reconnect the photos so I have the edits I have already made?

Is there someway to control the color and/or the shade of grey used for each to make it easier to tell at a glance which image(s) is currently selected?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI do my 3D modeling by use of simple cylinders,boxes and everything looks fine. but when I re-open the file just minutes later lots of objects has moved. See attachment. The attached picture shows a highlighted cylinder that is BOTH highlighted inside the module (where it is supposed to be) and on the outside where it has moved.

So I bought the new 27" iMac. I was keeping all my photos on an external drive but decided to use that for back up and move all the pics onto the new iMac's 3TB fusion drive. I made the move outside of Lightroom. Of course, when I did that, I botched up all the links.
Lightroom 4.3 now shows thumbnails of all my photos, none of my folders in the catalog window, all of my saved collections. What's the most efficient way of getting LR to link my catalog to my newly-located (internal) photos file?
I'm running LR2 (I know, first step, UPGRADE!), but in the meantime, I had to move my catalog because my drive got full. Under the Backup dialog box I chose the new location. But when I just click on the LR icon to open the program it opens with the default C: drive catalog location that it first installed with. Then I open the specific catalog from in the program and relaunch it. I have LR set to bring the dialog box everytime I start LR since I don't use it everyday. So I back it up when the dialog comes up and when it's done it goes right back to the default catalog with none of my library in there. Why do I have to keep opening the catalog manually?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I first started using LR, I converted several folders full of CR2s that had been imported into LR to .dng using the stand-alone DNG Converter and then used the OSX Finder to move those folders to my archive drives. (For those beginners following along - don't do this!!)
I want to re-link LR to those files but find that I need to do the relink routine one file at a time (instead of being able to use the "find nearby missing photos") because LR is looking for an exact match of filename + extension instead of just filename. The problem is that the files on the archve drive have a .dng extension and LR is looking for a .CR2 extension.
Is there a way of having LR look for just the filename? Perhaps a script of some sort?
3000 files to relink - one at a time is not a happy prospect.
(Of course, now I do everything from within LR. Live and learn!)

I moved my lightroom 3.6 catalog to a new machine ( a Win7 machine so I could upgrade to version 4 and 5). When I did that photos that I had tagged as RED came over without the RED color and just a white box in the lower right-hand corner of the grid view.

I thought it would be a matter of pointing the old catalogue to the new hard drive, but that does not appear to be the case. Do I need to start from scratch and build a brand new catalogue?

View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter I edit photos in an external editor, my photo is moved from its original location in the folder, to a different one. The photo stays within the same folder but is moved to a new location within it. This is really annoying as I have a couple thousand photos from a trip to Europe I have been going through, and after my external editor closes and I am returned to LR, I have to find the photo which has been moved to some random spot so I can put it back to where it originally was. I want to keep my photos organized by location, so it really sucks when my photos from Turkey end up with my photos from Hungary. How I can stop this???
