I moved a folder in Lightroom in the file pane, in Library mode and now Lightroom thinks they are missing. I looked for them in Finder and they aren't were they were and they aren't where I moved them too. I can't figure out how they just disappeared into the ether. The pictures are on a network drive, but I've done this before and Lightroom had no problems whatsoever.
View 2 RepliesI've got about 10,000 photos that I've moved in lightroom by creating a folder called 'pictures' on the external drive using the left folders panel. I then selected all the images in the root drive on my computer and dragged them onto the 'pictures' folder on the external drive, and I expected the folder structure to come with it. Only after I realised that they had all moved into one folder. Is there a way of moving the images back into a structure without manually doing it? Here's a screenshot.....
View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter I edit photos in an external editor, my photo is moved from its original location in the folder, to a different one. The photo stays within the same folder but is moved to a new location within it. This is really annoying as I have a couple thousand photos from a trip to Europe I have been going through, and after my external editor closes and I am returned to LR, I have to find the photo which has been moved to some random spot so I can put it back to where it originally was. I want to keep my photos organized by location, so it really sucks when my photos from Turkey end up with my photos from Hungary. How I can stop this???
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have moved and renamed a folder in the external harddrive. Syncing that moved folder in lightroom is not working in bringing back all the photos to Lightroom - Although all the photos exist in that folder as I have confirmed through windows explorer.
Another Option: If I choose "import photos to this folder option" in LR and browse to the source to that folder - the missing photos are shown as shaded back and the import button (bottom right corner) is not highlighted. Therefore I cannot select these missing photos and hence cannot import them to the folder.
When copying a symbol (control c) then pasting (control v) I can move the symbol to another location and left click to drop it. Many times when I do this the symbol disappears and you can't see it. If I re (regen) the the entire model disappears. I can close out the drawing then open it back up the drawing has been restored and the symbol will be at the location that I had placed it at. With the same drawing, I don't have these problems with 2012.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have my pictures on an external HD, formatted to Windows (XP). On my WIN7 computer, I've imported the pictures from the ext HD, into LR5. But I can't delete a bad picture, only remove from catalog. When I try to delete, I get this message : "the file could not be moved to resycle bin". If I go to the folder in Windows I have no problem deleting the file.I Should mention, that a Macbook Air have been reading files from this ext HDD.

I am migrating from a Windows-based PC to an iMac. I successfully used Lightroom to move all my images and catalogs from the PC hard file to a USB attached hard file. I was able to go to the iMac and move the Lightroom Catalog from USB attached drive to the Apple Macintosh drive. I was able to bring up Lightroom with moved Lightroom Catalog and work with all of my images. Then using Lightroom I was unable to move the images to the Macintosh hard drive without getting the error code above.
i'm on a Mac. upgraded from cs3 to cs6. I opened a new Photoshop file and went to do an action that I normally do with this type of file. (I have created my own action.) But Actions is no longer where it used to be — which I think was in the History area, but I'm not sure, I just go by feel. In any case, I can't find anything having to do with Actions. Where is it hiding?

This happened in LR3.7 and continued when catalog was imported into LR4.I import by date in these folders: year/month/date..So imports today would go into the 2012 folder - March subfolder - March 30 subfolder
But recently this happens: At the import screen, the correct sub-folder (March 30) is chosen on the right side with the correct number of images. But when the import is executed and I look at my folder structure on the left side in Library mode, the March 30 subfolder has appeared twice--once where it should be as as a subfolder to March, and once above March, and sometimes above all of 2012. The March 30 subfolder of March is listed as empty. The folder in the wrong place has the images. If I try to move the images to the proper folder, it says the images are already there! If I look at the system finder, indeed the image files are where they are supposed to be, and the phantom folder does not exist.
I have a folder on my hard drive with 72 photos (files) in it. When I pull this folder up in Lightroom 3, the number next to the folder incorrectly indicates that there are 73 photos in this file!? When I "Select Al"l photos for this folder, it indicates that 72 out of 73 photos were selected. Why does Lightroom indicate one extra photo that should not be there, and how do I correct this? Synchronizing the folder did not fix this.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I am working in Bridge and have a long list of reprints that I need to print from a wedding I just go to that wedding folder and type in the file number of the first picture. This pictue is then highlighted and I give it a two star (or whatever) rating. I do this for all of the pictures on my list so when I am done all of the pictures to reprint have a two star rating. I just move these into a temporary folder and retouch and print from this folder. Is there a way to do this in Lightroom?
View 13 Replies View RelatedI had copied a .PNG file into the source folder and wanted to import it into the Lightroom catalog.
However the import dialog does not show that file in the source folder at all.
I also tried the method of selecting the source folder and using the "Synchronize" option. But that did not show the .PNG file either.
My clumsy work-around was to open the file in CS6 and save it as a .JPG file.
So my question: how can I tell Lightroom which file types (extensions) I want to be able to import?
How can I resize a batch of files, all to same smaller file size, then export to a new folder?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just noticed that some of my photos are missing from the library in lightroom, specifically the original versions of photos that have virtual copies edited in photoshop in folders that have since been synchronized. Weird, and very anoying. The files are still there (in wondows explorer) but when I try to re-import them lightroom doesn't see them, only the PS edited copies (.tif files). I told lightroom to allow duplicates and it sees all the photos in the folder except those missing ones. This does not happen to my PS edited virtual copies in folders that have not been synchronized. It is not a matter of stacking, or at least Lightroom does not think the PS copies are stacked at all so I can't unstack them. How to get them back into lightroom (preferably with the accompanying development settings) and also how to avoid this problem in the future.
PS: I import files from my camcorder using a different program because lightroom does not acknowledge that particular video file format. That's why I have to synchronize some folders and not others.
I do my 3D modeling by use of simple cylinders,boxes and everything looks fine. but when I re-open the file just minutes later lots of objects has moved. See attachment. The attached picture shows a highlighted cylinder that is BOTH highlighted inside the module (where it is supposed to be) and on the outside where it has moved.
This happens all the time and I have to move the objects back in position. The distance the objects are moved is random. I use 'acadiso3D' template for these models
When importing something off of a DVD or CD how do I direct Lightroom to copy the imported images or folder to a specific folder on my hard drive? It seems to default to MyCatalog but leaves the location on the CD rather than copying it to the drive. If I remove the CD the images is reported as missing.
When I go to the top of the screen for importing I can change the source but the location info on the right is not active or changeable.I am new to lightroom and coming from Photoshop Elements background.
I have another question about installing LR5. How do I manage to install the program to a special folder and not the custom folder on drive c:?
I just run the installation through application manager. I set the installation folder within my presets to d:adobe...
But anyway it was installed on hard drive c:

I was in the process of moving a folder inside or LR. I might have clicked and moved it twice since it was very slow. LR wasn't able to complete the move and gave me an error message. After I clicked "OK" on the error message, I wasn't able to find my folder/images from the old or new location. I did a spotlight search on my mac, but I wasn't able to find them anywhere. Where has my folder/images gone? I tried to locate them without any success.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIm using the most recent version of Lightroom 5.3 (updated through CC - even though this has shown up on previous version) on Windows 7 and all the folders in my library are showing up with the directory path in front of my folder names. How can I get rid of this? I do not see any options in preferences to turn this off. I have also turned off preferences in Windows > Folder Options Control Panel "Display full Path in Title bar" option.
I have Lightroom on several computers and have set up preferences the same on each workstation, and this only shows up on one workstation.
how to move the XMP files when I drag a folder of photos from one external drive to another external drive.

I just copied around 30GB of photos from my Mac laptop to a secondary internal drive that I placed in my Mac desktop. I then copied the Catalog from my laptop and put it in my primary drive on my Mac desktop. I double-clicked on the Catalog and it seemed to open everything up. I clicked on some keywords and it is finding the images. I never used LR for anything other than adding multiple keywords to all of my images.
1. However, the folder section on the left has question marks next to each and every folder that displays in that section. Why does it have the question marks and what do I need to do to remove them?
2. Do I need to do anything else to ensure the transfer is complete?
I set lightroom 3 to monitor the folder that my Eye Fi card feeds to but I couldn't see how to do this without also setting the "move to" setting...is there a way to do this to just have Light room recognize when new pics come in and not move them?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have recently upgraded to LR5.3 and have now noticed an issue when importing photos. When importing in to one folder (as a sub folder), the photos are imported correctly, - on disk they appear in the correct place, howevr in the folder panel, the sub-folder is shown outside of the main folder.
Imort settings are:
Note , on disk the folder '20131226 - Boxing Day' appears correctly (These are all under a root folder 'Photos - LR Masters')
However, in the LR Folder Panel, the folder '20131226 - Boxong Day' appears outside of the 'Photos - LR Masters'
If I attempt to move the folder by dragging, I get an error that the folder already exists.
There is a folder on my hard drive that does not appear in the list of folders in the import dialog. I have tried expanding all the other folders around it (my photos are filed by date of capture) to see if it was somehow imported as a subfolder. It is simply not there. I can find and open it and access all the pictures in Photoshop Elements but not in Lightroom 4.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I bought the new 27" iMac. I was keeping all my photos on an external drive but decided to use that for back up and move all the pics onto the new iMac's 3TB fusion drive. I made the move outside of Lightroom. Of course, when I did that, I botched up all the links.
Lightroom 4.3 now shows thumbnails of all my photos, none of my folders in the catalog window, all of my saved collections. What's the most efficient way of getting LR to link my catalog to my newly-located (internal) photos file?
I'm running LR2 (I know, first step, UPGRADE!), but in the meantime, I had to move my catalog because my drive got full. Under the Backup dialog box I chose the new location. But when I just click on the LR icon to open the program it opens with the default C: drive catalog location that it first installed with. Then I open the specific catalog from in the program and relaunch it. I have LR set to bring the dialog box everytime I start LR since I don't use it everyday. So I back it up when the dialog comes up and when it's done it goes right back to the default catalog with none of my library in there. Why do I have to keep opening the catalog manually?
