Having exporting issues after installing the 4.2 upgrade? It used to be a breeze but now I keep getting the message that a destination folder has not been specified even though I've done that.

Unable to Export: The destination folder for this operation is missing.

I have been using a trial version of LR 4 and would like to know if LR can use the format of "MM-DD-YY" for the subfolder of the destination folder. My many years of files are organized by the "YYYY" top folder then "MM-YY" then by date of shooting, "MM-DD-YY" within the corresponding month. Is this possible or must I continue to rename the folders after import?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a working "watched folder", established through Lightroom's auto-import settings. When I place an image into that folder, it is imported into my lightroom catalog.
However, if I put a folder of images into that watched folder (i.e. "James and Stephanie" is put into a "wedding" folder), nothing happens. I do not want all of my images in one single folder; that's why I have Lightroom, so they can be organized in folders but collected in a database.
I also do not understand why Lightroom wants to move auto-imported images into a destination folder.
I would like to drop a folder into the "watched folder" and have Lightroom import (without moving the image) into my catalog.
I was surprised to not find this issue in Internet searches; is it dreadfully obvious, or is there a better way that I'm not familar with?
SInce upgrading from LR4 to LR5 I can no longer create a new folder in the 'destination' section of the import pane and import new images into it.
If I right-click, for example, the desktop in the 'destination' area and select 'create new folder' I can create the folder, but it doesn't then show when I return to LR for the import. I have to have already created to folder outside of LR before the import for it to show as a viable location to import to.
I just installed 2.8 and have downloaded the help files, but cannot figure out the destination folder/location for extracting them. I am using Windows Vista.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an action I have been using once every year for several years in a batch automation process in Photoshop. Its purpose is to resize all the images in a specified folder and save the new versions (using the same filename) in another folder. Both folders are specified in the Batch dialogue, which is also set to override any Action 'Save As' commands. This procedure worked without any difficulties using CS4. Today, I tried running it for the first time under CS6 and it failed on the very first image.
The problem is that it is triggering a request for my permission to save the image as a copy. The reason is that it is trying to save the modified file in the source folder and ignoring my specified (different) destination folder.
I have been using Photoshop for basic editing for several years, now. For at least the last three years (whether I have used Photoshop CS5 or now, CS6), if I automate a batch of photos, going through the process of selecting the source folder, then the destination folder for the edited pictures, my choice of destination folder is ignored — the edited pictures end up in the source folder.

Nothing works when I change the destination folder, and when I finally click "cancel" another box pops up saying: "Error 1714. The older version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Reditributable cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group."
I have windows 7 and photo shop 10. I was wondering if when I do a back up in increments to I make a new destination folder every time?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am exporting images from a folder in LR4.1 to another folder in LR while changing the name, and changing to a JPG. I have done this to 95 other images, placing them into multiple folders with multiple subfolders with no problems. Now I have created another subfolder and have tried exporting 8 images into this folder but LR doesn't show them. LR shows the folderd with the name greyed out and a file count of 0. I go to the hard drive and find all 8 images in the same (greyed out LR folder) location. Why is LR unable to see these files?
I have exported other files to other folders but when I go back to trying to export to this problem folder it doesn't work.

I want to move them to the proper folder, but I am afraid to use the "move" option because it says it will move the photos and then delete the previous folder. View 4 Replies View RelatedHaving recently swapped my old iMac for a new Retina MacBook Pro running OS X 10.9.1, I seem to be having some difficulty getting the new Mac to open Lightroom 5.3 when a memory card is inserted either into the SD card slot on the laptop itself or into the card reader of the monitor. I have no problems importing pictures into Lightroom if I open Import myself but I find it odd that cannot enable the same function as I had on the old iMac. Within the Lightroom preferences I have the option "Show import dialog when a memory card is detected" enabled. However, what I find really odd is that my old stalwart application for sorting this sort of stuff out, Image Capture, does not seem to recognise Lightroom. When I open this application with a memory card inserted I am unable to select Lightroom as an "Other" option from the "Import to" menu. see the screenshot below. what is causing Image Capture to dislike my fresh install of Lightroom (via Creative Cloud).
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy most recent photo import in Lightroom 4 unexpectedly changed destination. All previous imports appear in the LR "Folders" panel by date. This one appears under "Desktop" in that panel and places a blue folder of the images on my computer desktop. I do not want this! I deleted the images from lightroom, placed the folders in the trash and emptied it in order to attempt a re-import in the Folders location. LR said the files could not be read. It will only import the images as separate, dated folders appearing on my desktop. I did not purposefully change anything. Can I move these two dated folders into the Folder's column and get them off my desktop?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSince transferring my photo files from my hard drive to an external drive(without telling lightroom) I have completely lost all connections between lightroom and the new destination (my external drive). There is no sign of anything at all in Lightroom. It shows 0 photos, my preferences seem gone, and it is as though I have just loaded up lightroom for the very first time. Do I need to start from scratch and reimport my photos or is there some way I can retreive/reconnect the photos so I have the edits I have already made?

It seems to default to MyCatalog but leaves the location on the CD rather than copying it to the drive. If I remove the CD the images is reported as missing.

I was in the process of moving a folder inside or LR. I might have clicked and moved it twice since it was very slow. LR wasn't able to complete the move and gave me an error message. After I clicked "OK" on the error message, I wasn't able to find my folder/images from the old or new location. I did a spotlight search on my mac, but I wasn't able to find them anywhere. Where has my folder/images gone? I tried to locate them without any success.
