Photoshop :: What Makes CS6 Ignore Choice Of Destination Folder
Jul 2, 2013
I have been using Photoshop for basic editing for several years, now. For at least the last three years (whether I have used Photoshop CS5 or now, CS6), if I automate a batch of photos, going through the process of selecting the source folder, then the destination folder for the edited pictures, my choice of destination folder is ignored — the edited pictures end up in the source folder.
I have the latest update in LR. I have had this problem on and off and thought maybe it was a bug and once I did the update things would work, but doesn't
So I want to export a folder from LR onto one of my external hard drives however when I click to export my only choice is Desktop. I can open that "tree" as far as it goes but it NEVER shows Computer so I can select which external hard drive to export files to as a backup.
When I go to explorer from the start menu I can see all my files in Explorer including Computer with my external drive just not in LR.
I have restarted my computer, I have tried two different hard drive thinking it just might not recognize one of the drives but that isn't it either.
I have had this problem in the past and haven't been able to figure why sometimes I see my Computer and other times all I see is Desktop as an export option.
I have an action I have been using once every year for several years in a batch automation process in Photoshop. Its purpose is to resize all the images in a specified folder and save the new versions (using the same filename) in another folder. Both folders are specified in the Batch dialogue, which is also set to override any Action 'Save As' commands. This procedure worked without any difficulties using CS4. Today, I tried running it for the first time under CS6 and it failed on the very first image.
The problem is that it is triggering a request for my permission to save the image as a copy. The reason is that it is trying to save the modified file in the source folder and ignoring my specified (different) destination folder.
I have a folder on my main HD which contains pictures that I use all the time but also regularly delete when done with them.
When using PS elements 10 I could never stop the program from importing the contents of this folder so that when I deleted them they kept showiing as 'missing files' in the catalog Have upgraded to 12 in the hope that I cam somehow tell the program to ignore this folder.
I wonder if it is possible to change the name of the JPEG destination folder when using Image Processor?I organize all my folders with a specific date structure. Whenever I use Image Processor to create JPEGs, the folder is called JPEG. Then I have to rename the folder with the date structure.
Is there some way to include the original folder name in the JPEG folder?"Save As JPEGSaves images in JPEG format within a folder called JPEG in the destination folder.
I just installed 2.8 and have downloaded the help files, but cannot figure out the destination folder/location for extracting them. I am using Windows Vista.
Having exporting issues after installing the 4.2 upgrade? It used to be a breeze but now I keep getting the message that a destination folder has not been specified even though I've done that.
There is a little annoying folder automatically created by CorelX5 in my document folder, and I don't want it there. It destroys my file arrangement and I hate this.
Question: How can I change the destination of the folder ...Corel which is automatically created in my document folder?
I have been using a trial version of LR 4 and would like to know if LR can use the format of "MM-DD-YY" for the subfolder of the destination folder. My many years of files are organized by the "YYYY" top folder then "MM-YY" then by date of shooting, "MM-DD-YY" within the corresponding month. Is this possible or must I continue to rename the folders after import?
I just purchased Corel PaintShop Pro x4 today. At the beginning of installation, a box pops up and says: "The feature you are trying to use is on a netwok resource that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package "vcredist.msi" in the box below."
Nothing works when I change the destination folder, and when I finally click "cancel" another box pops up saying: "Error 1714. The older version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Reditributable cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group."
I have a working "watched folder", established through Lightroom's auto-import settings. When I place an image into that folder, it is imported into my lightroom catalog.
However, if I put a folder of images into that watched folder (i.e. "James and Stephanie" is put into a "wedding" folder), nothing happens. I do not want all of my images in one single folder; that's why I have Lightroom, so they can be organized in folders but collected in a database.
I also do not understand why Lightroom wants to move auto-imported images into a destination folder.
I would like to drop a folder into the "watched folder" and have Lightroom import (without moving the image) into my catalog.
I was surprised to not find this issue in Internet searches; is it dreadfully obvious, or is there a better way that I'm not familar with?
There is "Ignore camera generated folder names when naming folders" on preferences tab, but I couldn't find a usage for this option. With a camera card including different folders, I can not see the folder names in my card on the import panel.
Using Photoshop Elements 11 on Mac OS X to print image on Canon Pixma iP4850 printer, where is option to chose paper type? Print window says chose printer the paper size but not paper type.
I want to update my Photoshop CS6 to ACR 8.2, but the Update choice under the Help menu is dimmed (disabled). How do I enable it? I have verified my internet connection.
I'm new to Photoshop (CS5) and don't see the automatic masking layer appear when I choose from the adjustments panel (I have to create one in a separate step). Is the automatic feature something I have to turn on?
CS6 is consistenly locking up in the selective color and curves dialog. i.e. I come to the selective color dialog and try to choose the reds and it is stuck on whites, which I used last and I can't change it. I have to quit and relaunch. The same thing is happening with the Curves dialog. I can edit the RGB curve , but can't select the R, G or B channels until I relaunch. It works for a while and then it just stops.
I scan drawings with 2 colors, but only 1 color is the one I need, the other one is just a scetch. How can i make photoshop (CS) ignore the color that I don't need?
Color i need: black (or blue) Color i don't need: grey (pencil)
I've been trying to follow Dave Cross's method of making my selection on the new Background. I've tried cropping my RAW image, opening it as a Smart Image and moving it to the Destination Image. Also I tried opening it as an Image. I can't understand why I can't make a selection on that Layer in the Destination Image.
Is there a way to open PNGs without reading alpha information? or to remove the transparency from an already open document?
I've created a PNG with a 3D applicaion that depicts an opaque character in front of a transparent background. the image uses straight alpha.
however there is still image information in the transparent parts. here's the same image without alpha (i removed it quickly with the open source app IrfanView).
Once i open the original PNG in Photoshop CS3 it creates a single layer document with the transparency already applied to the layer. I have found no way to get at the color values in the transparent parts of the image.
as you can see i already have some sort of work-around for this problem. still, i would be interested if it's possible to do the same with photoshop, since it is my numer one image editing program.
I'm going to buy the videostudio X5, but it seems not many effect and menu I can choice from the application, will that be different since I'm using the trial version. I have the hollywood fx for pinnacle, is possible to use them? if not, where I can get some Videostudio sources?
I made an action that does a bunch of stuff, and then saves as to a folder. How do I change the save to destination within the action? Every so often I need to save to a new location.
I am trying to set up a batch process however when I try to select the source folder I am only presented with my Desktop and 1 subfolder on my desktop.
I cannot select any other drives/folders.
I am using CS3 on Vista Ultimate 64. My photos are stored in an external WD My Book Drive. I have the same problem when I try to select a destination folder.
I cannot see any of my other drives/partitions? I have the same issue when I try this through the Image Processor tool as well.
I've been wanting to upgrade to CS6 but have one issue that is preventing me from using it exclusively during testing that did not occur in CS5.
When typing special characters the formatting jumps all over the place and the speical characters end up at the end of text and not where I typed them.
