Photoshop :: Update Menu Choice Dimmed In CS6
Nov 17, 2013I want to update my Photoshop CS6 to ACR 8.2, but the Update choice under the Help menu is dimmed (disabled). How do I enable it? I have verified my internet connection.

Illustrator :: Majority Of The Options Under File Menu Are Greyed Out Or Dimmed?
Nov 10, 2013I am on a MAC OS X 10.8.5. I am running Illustrator CC 17.0.0 I started a new document and created my work. I could not save as or export. There are times when the SAVE button is also greyed out. (see screenshot). I was fortunate there was a script that saves the files as a PDF under SCRIPTS. It does not matter if I start a new file or open an old one. I do not have file menu choices. I checked for updates and it states I am current.

Mar 11, 2014I am trying to adjust the white balance using photoshop elements 11, all the information I have come across tells you how to do it using the camera raw plug in. This has been updated and still I do not see it listed when I click on the file menu. I take photos of antique gold lockets using a light house and even though the custom white balance is set on my camera the photos are still coming out too canary yellow. I need to be able to adjust the colors so that they are more antique rose gold looking and have been reading different articles and videos on how other people adjust the colors and would like to try a couple of the ways I have seen but am unable as the camera raw plug in is not showing up as an option.

I confirmed that the photo was set with RGB color mode, and it is in Full/Edit mode. The primary functions that I attempted to use were Copy & Paste. I opened the same file on my iMac and it worked just fine. How I can make the Edit Functions work on my MacBook Pro?

I very much dislike that AutoDesk made it so easy to edit the project wide description lines and left almost no way to customize the per-drawing section in the same way. One would think if you making a product to fill the need of many industries you would add a way to customize it from vanilla?

Jun 25, 2012Today I was browsing through my images library and I noticed that some of the images are dimmed. By dimmed, I mean that they appear desaturated... as though LR4 is trying to tell me something about the image... but I don't know what.
If I click on the image I can edit it. It appears normal when it is the "current image" (bright colors again). But as soon as I make another image the "current image" the other image goes back to the dimmed look.
This is only true for some images.

For at least the last three years (whether I have used Photoshop CS5 or now, CS6), if I automate a batch of photos, going through the process of selecting the source folder, then the destination folder for the edited pictures, my choice of destination folder is ignored — the edited pictures end up in the source folder.

Jul 16, 2012CS6 is consistenly locking up in the selective color and curves dialog. i.e. I come to the selective color dialog and try to choose the reds and it is stuck on whites, which I used last and I can't change it. I have to quit and relaunch. The same thing is happening with the Curves dialog. I can edit the RGB curve , but can't select the R, G or B channels until I relaunch. It works for a while and then it just stops.

Aug 4, 2012I currently use X4, but have X5 ready to install. I shoot with a Canon M41 in the lower quality selection of HD. The file is AVCHD with about 16 mbps. The best HD is 24 mbps. I use the lower because with the software included with the camera, creating an AVCHD disk is limited to the lower standard and shooting in the higher standard required considerable time to down render the files to create the AVCHD disk. Camera Manual indicates 60i or 30p. Confused on this issue. When I create a movie in X4, I selected Blu-ray 1920P. This seems to introduce some slight artifacts like moving, fine horizontal lines and some strange flick of some objects like flower fields. Converting to an AVCHD disk takes several hours for a 25 minute movie consisting of 3 shorter movies. Also, the artifact effect is increased. I just did a trial of creating the movies in "same file type as first clip". The resulting file is about 15% smaller. Also, rendering an AVCHD disk is quicker and no artifacts. Am I on the right track? The software included with camera created excellent quality videos but was camera specific and very limited in adjustments, etc. Corel could provide more info about the confusing file types.
Also, X4 will crash with "unknown error caused program to stop". I save frequently to return to where I was editing. Doesn't seem to be a consistent answer on this issue. I hope X5 is more stable.

May 29, 2012How can I make my spot color definitions choice persistent? I read a kb item that said how to swap out the new Pantone Plus color books for the old ones, to maintain color parity with older versions. One of the steps has me going to "Spot colors" on the swatches pallette and selecting "Use CMYK Values..." instead of "Use LAB Values...". I don't want to have to do this with every file. Is there a way to make this choice persistent?

So I want to export a folder from LR onto one of my external hard drives however when I click to export my only choice is Desktop. I can open that "tree" as far as it goes but it NEVER shows Computer so I can select which external hard drive to export files to as a backup.
When I go to explorer from the start menu I can see all my files in Explorer including Computer with my external drive just not in LR.
I have restarted my computer, I have tried two different hard drive thinking it just might not recognize one of the drives but that isn't it either.
I have had this problem in the past and haven't been able to figure why sometimes I see my Computer and other times all I see is Desktop as an export option.

Lightroom :: Quick Way To Confirm Process 2012 Choice For Older Images?
Dec 14, 2012When LR4.x sees an older image it shows me the exclamation mark. OK, yes I will be updating... so the next step is a side by side. I could skip this, but it can be interesting to see where the subtle differeces will be. I know about the backslash key as a way to close the side-by-side. Up to today it always closed the *old* (2010) version and I sailed off into whatever editing was needed.
Today the backslash is always placing me in the older version "Before".as if I chosen "do not update"? ...but I *did* click "Update".My LR4 book (M. Evening). which I generally like, was written before the interface got locked down as there are some inconsistencies even with 4.0, so looking there I find nothing that works on this exact flow of events.
What am I doing "wrong" for the 4.3 interface. Hmmm, I just updated from 4.2 and that's when LR started leaving me in the old process.
