I didn't know what to expect but when performance went from bad to worse and each click on LR resulted in (not responding), I became very concerned. I did research and couldn't find anything so I looked at my swap file and tweaked it. I added swap files to all of my drives, physical and virtual. For now that seems to be working.
My 32 bit W7 has 4gig of RAM installed.
There is no crash report. With Bridge CS5 everything works fine. (Opening RAWs with minibridge CS6 works file too.)

I am using a Max with OSX version 10.7.5..I have checked all the relevant folders and made them all Read Write..I have tried making the relevant folders manually and re-starting GIMP but same message.
Start up Gimp and get an error message as follows:
Unable to open swap file. GIMP has run out of memory and cannot use the swap file. Some parts of your images may be corrupted. Try to save your work using different filenames, restart GIMP and check the location of the swap directory in your Preferences.
When I check preferences, the path to the swap file is not correct. My path is user to Application to Application Support to Library to Gimp.
First, I'm using Linux Mint 14 and just had to do a re-install. Since then I have the following messages when I open Gimp
"To avoid data loss, please check the location and permissions of the swap directory defined in your Preferences (currently "/home/todd/.gimp-2.8")"
and
"Could not create temporary file for '/home/todd/.gimp-2.8/gimprc': Permission denied"
I assume this isn't a good thing and would like to get it sorted out but don't know quite how. Yes I've re-installed Gimp, no change.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using Lightroom 4 on a shiny new 27" iMac and have a very old Dell 24" display, not LED backlit, as a secondary display. Both have been calibrated with a Spyder 3. I would like to preview photos on my iMac display by default and use all edit controls on the old Dell display but setting this up is a pain in the butt and it won't return to this configuration after I quit LR and open it again.
Even when I right-click on the dock in OS X Mavericks and select "Options/Desktop on Display 2" I only get the splash page on Display 2.
Is there any way to make LR open by default on the system's secondary display (Dell 24") and use the iMac itself as LR's secondary display?
I'm using Lion, and to install the Leopard version of GIMP. I'm getting an error message, and don't know what action to take:

32 times and 16 reboots later Photoshop 32 bit keeps freezing and not responding on a 2 gig 5 layers PSD file.
Its not the OS, its not the file format of the drive, its not the machine, as it worked last week on CS6 Works on a 64 bit machine no problem.
When I try to swap a photo into a different order, an error message tells me that "The currently selected Source does not support custom order".

I was wondering. Once I have finished this. Would it be possible for me to change some settings in the exposure control (in Environment) and Glare (in the material slot) before rendering or will I have to leave it or can I adjust the Glare and not the exposure control?
I've recently encountered an error using Max 2010 Design where, a file that I've been working on or have worked on in the past suddenly ceases to open while using Max 64 bit. The file will continue to be openable in Max 32bit, but opening it in 64bit causes instant crashing. I've tried installing the service pack, installing new video card drivers - neither of which fixed the problem.
I really don't know where to look for answers at this point, and do not have free reign of my work machine to request a reinstall / reimaging of my hard drive. I need a solution that I can bring to the IT department that fixes the issue as simply and quickly as possible.
I recently have been creating characatures of cars using real photos; then tweaking and stretching them to get a good "base" to start with. Then the rest is all freehand with a mouse. (A Wacom pen would work much easier I'm sure) The thing is that it takes me literally hours to color in and shade. So I figured you guys probably know a shortcut to "tweak" photo's and just have to touch up for the final result.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I shoot images with a high dynamic range I use the AEB function to create an HDR image in PS merge to HDR Pro and save them as 32bit tiff.
Is it best to then process these in LR5 or to use the Camera Raw dialogue or is there no differance in exposure,highlights, shadows, whites, blacks and contrast functions whilst processing 32bit images?
Lightroom 4.3 won't start up on my Windows 8, 32 bit machine. Install went fine but when I click on the Lr icon the program appears to start up and I get the Lr in the task bar at the bottom and when I hover over the icon I get a thumbnail of the start screen. When I hover over the thumbnail of the start screen it appears on my desktop but when I move the mouse off the thumbnail the start screen disappears from the desktop so there is no way to get past this point.
View 1 Replies View RelatedShould all settings be zeroed before creating the 32 bit TIFF file in Edit in>Merge to HDRPro. Does this include defringing, sharpening, noise reduction and all basic panel settings?
Also the info I have been reading infers that only the the exposure ends of the bracket need to be input rather than all of the files in the bracket. Example from a -2,-1,0,+1,+2 bracket, only the -2 and +2 would be input into the Merge to HDR Pro.
In CS4, holding the ALT key down and right-click-dragging left or right decreases/increases brush size continuously on a PC. Is there a comparable way to tweak brush HARDNESS on a PC as you can on a Mac? I have tried additionally holding down the SHIFT key ala the square brackets alternative method for step-changing hardness, and have also tried all combinations of moderator keys to no avail.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I generate a 32 bit tiff (HDR) in PS CS5 from bracketed pictures within lightroom 4.1, import the tiff back into lightroom, adjust it in lightroom, and then send it back to PS (option "Edit a Copy with Lightroom Adjustments" selected) for further editing, the file won't open in PS. Opening the file directly in PS works, but without the adjustments made in lightroom.
I have tried the same with a 32 bit tiff from Photomatix. Same behaviour.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have done a photomerge in PS CS6 of two birds in flight as the wings are clipped. The images merge nicely but the problem is that the blurred bird has been placed on top of the sharp bird, i.e. the top layer (bird with blurred eye) is blocking the bottom sharp bird. I have clicked and dragged the bottom layer to the higher position on the layers panel but the images do not swap positions.

I've tried deleting second language, installing keyboard software, searching for alternative pref. files etc., and no, capsLock is not on ^^.
I have 2 files and I'd like to copy a titleblock from a template drawing and use it to replace an existing titleblock on an in progress drawing. The titleblock on the in progress drawing has attributes, and I'd like to keep them when I put in the new titleblock. The attribute tag names between the 2 titleblocks are the same.
I do not know the exact names of the titleblocks, only that they contain the words "title block" somewhere in their name.
I've developed for Inventor for a while now, but I'm completely new to AutoCAD. How might I go about this?
I believe the basic steps would be something like this:
1. Identify which object to copy from template sheet.
2. Save that object to memory
3. Identify object to replace in existing drawing
4. Copy attributes and get position of existing titleblock
5. Delete existing titleblock
6. Insert new titleblock and copy in attributes
I've taken the Autocad tutorials, and I've searched for relevant posts on ThroughTheInterface. Is there someplace else to look which might give a more in-depth example of what I'm trying to accomplish?

One of the problems we face in 2010 is the part labeling issue, where it labels the family name for a part and not the description name. The way to get around this was to do a swap part. Well for me when i lay out a storm network, i create it by pipes only and then swap the parts that i need to. The only flaw about this is that you can only do one swap part at a time.
Well if you go to civl3dreminder blog site there is a fix for that. I actually tried it and it worked. I was actually able to swap pipes and structures at the same time. This routine will definitely come in handy.
Swap parts is not working for my structures. When I swap a structure it becomes unselectable and if I close out the drawing and re-open it the part is gone. I am running C3d 2012 64 it with the latest SP. I've attached the drawing.

There is no custom transition in Smoke 2013.
I try to do so by creating an axis transition and match the contents.
It just matched the whole clip with wrong in and out point.Then I try to swap something with the transition.It said two targets of the same type is required.
Does the Swap Effects work for transitions?
It is pretty simple and smooth in Smoke 2012.
