I take a lot of images for time laspe sequences andI have just upgraded to LR5 and the issue I am seeing is after inporting or developing the images the only thumbnails that update are those I curently amm looking at in the library. I can scroll down after leaving the machine for hours and they only update when currently scrolled. This is really annoying and just taking ages to do anything. I have downloaded LR5.2 RC but there is no change that I can see.
when i convert raw photos from my olympus omd em5 into DNG's and export them to my external hard drive , i do not get any thumbnail previews , they can only be seen if i view the files through lightroom4 import , if however i export in other formats such as jpeg ,tiff etc.. i get a preview thumbnail . Iam using latest imac and running osx 10.8.2.
When using LR3 to create DNG files from my RAW files, those files would show me thumbnails of my image in Windows Explorer. I am running Windows/7 (64) and have installed a CODEC from "Fast Picture Viewer" that allows thumbnails from RAW & DNG files to be shown.  It seems, however, that the thumbnails do not show for DNG's created with LR4.  To Remedy this I uninstalled the CODEC. Downloaded the most recent version and installed it but this did not fix the problem.  I then went to the user forum for the CODEC product and searched for my problem. I found a thread who's solution is to turn off "Embed Fast Load Data" when exporting to DNG and it fixes the problem. I tried this and indeed it did fix it. The responder went on to say ".....When this option is enabled the files created are no longer DNGs (just an undocumented private format of Adobe that no one else can read to this date)".  This statement surprised me as it is counter to what I understand Adobe created DNG to be. Can I get some input on this comment as if true it is very troubling.  My second question is that I see where to turn off the "Embed Fast Load Data" in the LR Export module, but where do I do the same thing in the Import module when I'm selecting import mode "Copy to DNG"?  If indeed the DNG files created by LR4 are proper DNG files and this CODEC is just flawed in some way, any better way to allow image thumbnails to be shown in Windows Explorer?
I've been using the FastPictureViewer Codec pack so that DNG and camera RAW files show as thumbnails in Explorer for quite some time. Upon upgrading to LR4, DNG files no longer display as thumbnails, but as the generic Windows icon for an image. Â Upon researching the issue, and upgrading the Codecs from the supplier (which still did not fix the issue), the supplier tells me the following: Â What we solved [in the update] was a crash with the new files. Adobe did not document their changes, so there is not much we can do except ignore the files. This is what happens when owners of proprietary formats decide to change stuff without notice. Â If you turn off the "fast load" and "lossy" options the DNG will still be created following the published 1.3 specification and will work with 3rd party software including ours. Â The "new DNGs" are for Adobe private use only at the moment. We don't know (beyond vague promises on employees personal blogs) if they will ever document what they did and publish an updated specification, they are certainly under no obligation to do so. The decision they took not to release updated DNG specs even before LR4 came out was a deliberate one. Â While I resolved the problem by turning "fast load" off, I find it highly disturbing that Adobe has made undocumented changes to the DNG format that break 3rd party software. I thought the whole idea of DNG was that it was an OPEN FORMAT and was to prevent situations such as this. At least this is how they sold it to the public and their argument against "proprietary camera manufactuer RAW formats" that could "change at any time".
Is there a reason that .DWG files do not update in Windows Explorer (Windows 7 Pro, SP1)?
I have  "Save a thumbnail preview image" set to "Use view when drawing last saved". I also have Open with AutoCAD application set in Explorer. I have also re-booted the machine.
Have not had a problem before but all of a sudden, the thumbnail will not update, or it shows the AutoCAD "BIG RED A".
After updating to LR 3.6 all of my files are now black & white 'highkey' and ugly as hell. Any new files I add are initially correct in the 'color' I shot them but once I select a single file they are all converted to the same crappy black/white. I uninstalled LR and reinstalled but the values are retained time and time again.
I'm running lightroom 4.3 on a PC. The web template needed a few changes making, mainly the layout and replacing links for images etc., I could not find a way to update via lightroom so I changed the detail.html and grid.html files directly in C:Program FilesAdobeAdobe Photoshop Lightroom
4.3Sharedwebenginesdefault_html.lrwebengine. Now I need to make the same changes in lightroom 4.3 on a MAC, but how to locate the same files and update?
I have upgraded from Ltroom 3 to 5.2 and lots of differences straight away.
I have a question if
1) enable profile corrections 2) setup is Auto or Custom Or Default 3) the camera is correcr ( canon) 4) Model of the lens is correct EF17-40 5) Profile is shown as EOS-1D Mk 3 Â the arrows do not show any other camera and Mine is a Canon 50D, How do get the correct Profile to register also unable to update DNG files.
So I just downloaded and ran the updates for lightroom 3 (now 3.6) and now when I open folders to view my picture files, the canon raw files are no longer associated with lightroom. Let me further explain.  After shooting, I would plug my card into a card reader and see which pictures I wanted to view in lightroom. I shoot in jpeg and raw so I could view the jpeg thumbnails to see which raw files I wanted to open in lightroom. The raw files would be "labeled" with the LR icon and I would then doulbe click the raw file I wanted and by doing so it would initiate the opeing of LR. However, now the raw files do not have the LR icon assocaited with the raw files and I can longer clcik the raw files to automatically open lightroom.  Did something change with the update?
In Windows, my preferred folder view is "thumbnails". Some of my Photoshop psd images show as thumbnails, but others don't, they just show as the psd logo. The ones that show as thumbails are older images I haven't opened in a long time. Any new psd image I save will only display the logo as a thumb, and if I open an old image that does have a thumbnail and work on it and save it again, no thumbnail, just the psd logo displays.
It's really inconvient not being able to see the thumbs of what each image is. What's the trick to getting them back to all showing thumbs?
Is there a browser that functions like Windows Explorer which is capable of displaying cmx files as thumbnails so they can be viewed dozens at a time instead of viewed one-by-one in "preview" when selecting using the import command?
When I save a (flattened) image in TIF, I get only a partial thumbnail--often a previous layer or selection or something from the clipboard. This is in CS3 (on XP) but also used to happen in PS7.
My PSD files used to be visible as thumbnails now they are shown just as PSD files with no preview pic. I have searched the older topics and couldnt find an answer. I am using CS2 with Vista Ultimate 64 bit.
I have reactivated Photoshop CS3 on my new computer. The only thing that is diffirent and irritating is that I have no preview of my PDF files - just the Photoshop icon. When I go to File - Open - I have no preview of the thumbnails. I didn't have this problem on my old computer. Same photoshop. I have now have Windows Vista.
I've been looking for a solution casually for about a year to this, maybe I'm just stupid! When I import all my videos from my camera and put them into appropriate folders they make thumbnails for the files. Unfortunetely when I close down my computer and come back, they have disppeared. This is a pain because, it makes a large amount of files easy to work with as you have some idea what's contained from a thumbnail! Now initially I just thought it was my computers age (not that old) but I have a Dell XPS i7 Laptop also and it's the same story!
I shoot high quality 1080i .mts files so I'm sure they are a resource suck! Is it because the computer doesn't have the power in the RAM to remember all these files? I would of thought, once a thumbnail is made it's just like a JPEG and not changing ever in real time? Is there something I've turned off on my computer, telling it not to remember thumbnails?
Recently had problematic re-install of both X3 and X5. Finally succeeded in sequential numeric order (i.e. first X3 and then X5). However now, CONNECT X5 no longer displays CDR vector file thumbnails. Currently CDRs are associated with X3.
I had to make a new system. and now ..after installing PS CS..I cannot see thumbnails of the files. I normally see them and see thumbnails for JPEG..but not the PSD's with a newer version of PS. I remember reading about this bug..and a reg setting some time ago...anyone know what it takes to fix this..? (my win pro media has ALL updates and is legal..just bought it)
ver 9 PS CS2 -
Do i have to install the old PS 7.0 to see them..?
When I open corel draw files normally it will show the  small thumbnail of the page  but in one of my collegues sytem its not showing (its showing coreldraw icon).
In previous PS versions I could see my open files as thumbnails at the bottom of my workspace instead of tabs at the top. I would love to keep using that workflow- can this be selected somehow?
I just upgraded from 12 to x5 and for some reason it looks like Corel has chosen to make the file default to only showing the page as the thumbnail. Whereas before the entire file was displayed in thumbnail. This would work fine as long as you only want to keep your design elements all within the page frame, but I don't know one Corel Designer that does that. (only Word and Publisher users do that because they have to)
I've been using Corel Draw and Photo-Paint for many years, on many versions of Windows, and as far as I remember, Windows Explorer has always shown a thumbnail for a .cpt file instead of the plain icon.
I've now got a Windows 7 machine (professional version 64 bit), and .cpt files show up as plain white icons, instead of thumbnails.
In Connect I see only blank thumbnails of my .cdr files. The nice thing of this program should be thati can scroll through my files and look at large thumbnail So I know what iám working on.
