If I want to print on large paper sizes, e.g. A3 or A2, what is common wisdom:
- Set the paper size in LR and let LR blow the photo up;
- Edit a copy in PS and use the PS Size command to blow it up.
I mean if the magnifier routine in LR is the same as in PS one would expect the same result, right?
I need to prepare a very simple poster (one color for back ground and one for the font, no further editing at all) but it has to be around 50x50inch size which is big. I have never worked with such a large images before hence my question.
When I click 'new' and then set print size to 50x50 and 150ppi resolution the file size is around 250mb. Does it really have to be this big? It seems like my laptop cant handle files this big.
Is there some way around it? Vectors? Inscape?
My laptop is Hp Pavilion g6 Core i3

When I try to set a large page size (13X19) in the print screen from GIMP, it will not go beyond 8 X 11. What do I have to do to set up to print larger. When I do page set up, it always reverts to defaults.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm new to Lightroom and was attempting to prepare a file to send to a print lab. I want to produce a large format single image with dimensions of 52" x 36". I've prepared this in the 'print' module but when I press 'print to file...' it warns me that the file is 760mb and I may run out of memory! Is this file to large to sent to a printer, how can I reduce the size of the file without reducing the quality of the print? or is this just a standard file size for a large format printed image?

The sides are fine and so is the top it is only a problem on the bottom. How do I reduce the size of the window so that it fits or is smaller than my screen? I am using a pc with windows 7 software.

I do not have the facility at home and need to have them sized correctly for the print shop so they do not have to waste time resizing them. I am at a loss how to do this. I cant find any settings for this size print. A3 is roughly 42 x 29.7 cm.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI shoot a lot of images with the background blown out (I shoot RAW of course; on my preview the background is flashing like crazy). I do this deliberately!
But LR4 apparently insists om saving me from myself. It automatically pulls back the blown-out areas so they become visible again. And no simple edit brings them back: I have to move whites to +80 to +100 and exposure up by half a stop as well. This is silly - I blow out my backgrounds very deliberately.
Is there a way to stop this behaviour, to turn off this show-stopper compulsory protection?
This image shows it: in the original the bg is 255-255-255 - full blinkies on the LCD. But in the RAW there is, alas, enough detail left ion the bits to bring it back:
I would like to be able to export large numbers of images at a time with the same size, compression, etc. and be able to save these export settings so I can use them again. Does LR have this ability? What is it called?

I can not print imported images (JPG or TIFF) large size 80 - 260 Mb.
Print all but the raster! I tried to print on a plotter in JPG, TIFF, in whole or in parts, useless.
If I export the whole project in JPG 2000x3000 pix, all right, but I have 9000x10000 pixels - that size is not exported.
I'm having trouble making a custom size print, in LR4.

View 6 Replies View Relatedi have to admit i rarely printed from LR before.most of the time i print from photoshop.but yesterday i had to print a lot of small images so i thought i try LR for it.
i wanted to print a few 35x45mm images on DIN A4 paper.
images dimensions are correct (35x45mm 360 DPI) and it prints as 35x45mm images when i use photoshop.
when i use LR and i set the cell size to 35x45mm the prints come out to small by a couple of millimeters.
LR has not so many print settings i could have messed up.. right?
I'm trying to lay out an 8x10 cell in LR5. My page is a custom package and set up as an 8.5x11 sheet . When I click to add an 8x10 cell, I only get a cell that is ~ 8x8 and I have to drag the bottom down to 10".

I used Lr 3.6 to create custom (4 identical) photos to print on Kodak 210x297 mm (A4) glossy paper, using an HP 309a Photo-smart Premium inkjet printer. The size on the computer screen looks correct, in that the 4 pictures take up the whole A4 sheet. However, when I print, only one quarter of the photo paper is used, -ie., the 4 prints are all in one corner, and each print is like a tiny thumbnail. I have tried to vary the way I set this up by using different templates but nothing I do works at all, and I'm just wasting more and more paper.

In LR4 Print Module I set the cell size slightly smaller than an 8x10 (same aspect ratio but smaller by about 0.5 inch on both sides) on a Letter size paper. In the Epson driver I have tried all sort of options but no matter what I try, the print always come out exactly 8x10.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having problems getting my final prints to match the screen view. Most recently I have had this problem: I have an image that is sized to 5X7. I have it on a 5X7 template in the print module of Lightroom. The image dimensions in Lightroom say 5X7. I print on 5X7 paper (I actually measured it to be sure). ON the screen they look perfect, match the the templates and measure out fime with the onscreen rulers. Without fail a portion of the print is cut off on the final print. The long side of the print is the most effected. This is not just limited to 5X7's, it happens across the board. Is this a common problem or I am I doing something wrong? In the 5X7 example above the print comes out 5.2 X 7.3 give or take. I am using Lightroom 5.3 on an iMac running OS 10.9.1. The printer is a Canon Pro 100.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a set of Lightroom Print templates that I am trying to use, that are all for a 4x6 print. I can't get it to work because my page setup in the print module defaults to letter size. When I go in and change the page setup, it messes up the template and it gets all jumbled. Then when I go on to the next template, it switches back to letter size again. I want to create and hold a 4x6 canvas so these templates can either be saved to a 4x6 .jpg or printed on 4x6 paper. I know I can save a printer and page layout as part of a template by clicking the "update settings" once I have it all as i want it, but I can't even get that far because it messes up the template as soon as I change the page settings to 4x6. How do I get the canvas to 4x6 on templates that are already created so I can save them as a 4x6 .jpg or print to 4x6 paper?
I even just installed a printer that only prints 4x6 to see, but again, when I change the page layout it completely messes up the template.

On the window platform in another software program the multiple pages and/or poster options appear in the print window. But not in Photoshop on my mac. View 7 Replies View RelatedI have 1 large photo (33cm x 200cm) i like to print on A3+ paper. Not cropped or reseized, but on about 4 papers i can glue toether after printing and so get 1 large file.
So in all i'm looking for a way to print from PS cs5 so that , part by part, the image is split on the 4 sheets i like to use.
I can of course manually 'cut' the photo into 4 pieces myself, but i really hoped PS CS5 could do this job automaic for me.
Is their a way i simply did not find yet?
I've been a long term Photoshop (elements) user, but rarely use it. I primarily use Aperture. I have a shot that I've printed successfully in 20 X 20 on aluminum and would like my next print to be bigger, 30 X 30 would be ideal.
I have a JPG Aperture export that measures 2318 X 2318 pixels. I was talking to a person at an art show this weekend, discussing my goal for this photo and he mentioned a feature of Photoshop that can take this image and basically adds more pixels. It's a 3 second motion shot in low light, so I'm not too worried about losing sharpness.
Here is a 1024 X 1024 export of the photo.
Photoshop cs6. Just loaded Photoshop, and with my poor eye sight, i need large fonts in my Workspace, tried Edit> Preferences> Interface> ui font size Large, also tried reinstalling Photoshop but no joy.

(I just wrote a big post but for some reason when I tried posting it the forum logged me off and it didnt post so I wont get too detailed here.)
Basically I need to print the image for example using 9 piece of normal paper and stick it together with transperant tape to make a large image.
Is there a way to do this without the need to cut the borders on each page, I really would like to print borderless pages and not cut them.
I'm using Photoshop 7. I create a new document 8.5 x 11 inches at 150 pixels per inch.
I draw a circle 1" from the top of the image. The circle is 3" in radius.
When I print the circle is nearly .25" smaller in radius and slightly less than 1" from the top.
Why is the output not in the same placement and proportions as the image on the screen?
