I edited photos in Adobe Camera Raw from Bridge, but when I look at the same files in Lightroom, they do not appear to include the edits. I did verify that xmp files were created when I edited the files in ACR. Why is Lightroom not reading the xmp file and showing the edits?
View 4 RepliesI have LR4, and once I make some develop changes I've been exporting the files I want to use as DNG. I then open them in PSE10 to make final edits. It's been working fine, actually I had an older version of Adobe Raw in my PSE on my other computer. So when I opened in PSE it would ask if I wanted to conver to compatible version to edit in camera raw. I always said no b/c I didn't need to do anymore raw edits. Now that I have installed PSE on my new computer, it has the new ACR version I guess. When I open the DNGs to edit now I no longer get this error message, but it's showing my contrast, etc. as a standard raw setting instead of the changes I made in LR. Some are showing....like vibrance, but "recovery" which I know is "highlights" in LR, and other things are not showing correctly. I know that the options are different, but I don't want to use the ACR settings that it's using when I open the file, or have to go through them again.

When I am in the develop mode and make edit adjustments on any setting the 2nd monitor does not update. If I move to another image then come back the image is updated but it does not work in real time. I have never had this problem before and it worked fine in Lightroom V4.0

View 7 Replies View RelatedWorking on raw files, when I right-click the raw file in the filmstrip to 'edit in CS5', sometimes a box appears asking me if I want to edit with the changes made in LR4, other times I dont get the box and my file goes directly to CS5 but without the changes. Why don't I get the option to edit with changes everytime I want to edit in photoshop? Also, sometimes it seems even when it does import, some things like split toning changes are not included.

I wanted to test my assumption DNG is a DNG and that changes made to a DNG in LR4 would be visible in LR3, so I made changes to a DNG in Lightroom 4, clicked Update DNG Preview and Metadata and then exported that file as a DNG. I imported that DNG into a different Lightroom 3 catalog and the changes were not visible, even after choosing Read Metadata from File. Those same DNG changes were not visible in Bridge either. The changes are visible in the Finder, but not in Preview. how I can make Lightroom 3 recognize the DNG changes made in LR4?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm running on LR 5.3, but this problem persisted in LR 5.2. Working in PS CS6 and Camera Raw 8.3. RAWs are NEFs from a Nikon D600.
I can't figure out what happened but suddenly I am not getting prompts when moving from LR to PS to "Edit Original" or "Edit a Copy".
I reset all dialog warnings and nothing. The prompt will appear for TIFFs but not for NEFs.
It's kind of pointless to not be able to choose to edit an original or copy with LR adjustments for a RAW when they are the file types that retain my RAW editing information.
Plus, when I do click on a NEF and choose to edit in PS without the prompt (it will appear with lightroom adjustments, not as original), it will open a second icon for photoshop on my dock, and prompt me to continue trial? I have a version of PS installed with the serial plugged in, and in LR "edit in PS" for a TIFF will open this primary version.
In 2010 and previous releases I recall being able to show the feature dimension by right clicking "Show Dimensions" and then being able to double click on any visible dimension and change its value. I don't see this behavior in 2012. Is there a setting to turn this on?
View 7 Replies View Relatedwhere I mainly want a conclusive answer: How do I manage Lightroom photos when using 2 computers, keeping all edits made on either one of them, using the same photos for editing. I won't use DNG. Details: I mainly use my older MacBook Pro, but would like to be able to use my PC as it's way better (Specs: i5 2500K, 16GB RAM, SSD, USB3, nVidia GTX 560 TI etc.). I have 2 external HDs that I could use, one for Backup and one for the actual Photos/Edits. I'll probably need to use it as my internal HDs are quite full, and I can't just delete stuff or move it to an (Developer programs, Lossless music, etc.).
Based on this, how do I back up the whole thing e.g. Photos folder (all photos and edits, and preferably presets too)?
I have lost all changes that I made in the develop module. Most of these photos where stacked with the raw copy on top of the jpeg. Then I had picked the ones I liked and make changes to them in the develop module. Then I and changed them to DNG. This was over two weeks ago and I think I was trying to put them in to a collection. Now all I see is the originals as they appeared on the day they where imported.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm working with our new copy of AutoCAD 2013 and using the Visual LISP IDE to create code. I also have an AC2009 machine right next to me for other tasks. On the 2013 machine when I click the "Load Active Edit Window" button it switches to the console screen but there are no messages printed like:

This of course is making it extremely difficult to debug. I have checked the environment settings and they are exactly the same on each machine. The AC2009 machine prints the messages but the AC2013 machine is just giving me a blank console screen.
I purchased Photoshop Elements 11 and Lightroom 4 to use together.However, I used both together in trial versions and did not have this problem.
When I start in Lightroom with an image, then take it to Photoshop to do some work with liquify, save it, return to Lightroom... Lightroom is not acknowledging the new changes made in Photoshop. When I ran the trial versions, they did. How do I get that feature to work again, is there a setting I'm missing?
I've just inherited a 500GB HDD from my Dad and I'd love to be able to work all his photos through LR, although there's no way I'm sitting there and importing each and every directory!
As Google Picasa can be told to monitor a directory (eg My Pictures) and each time a new directory or directories are added, on startup it scans for and locates these new dirs and imports the pictures.
Can LR3 be set up to do this please as it would save me hours if I could just leave it overnight to import all of his pics straight into LR.
I installed an ICM profile from Red River paper in attempt to improve printing from LR by allowing LR to manage colors. Probably should not have done this because I am using Canon s9000 printer and Canon paper but I could not find Canon profiles anywhere on internet (for this printer). In any case, end result is horrific but I can't "reset" or uninstall.
Do I need to reinstall LR and photoshop to fix this? More likely this is now somewhere in Windows but I have already tried to delete everywhere I could find.
Can a selection made within a photograph be independently rotated? I did an inversion of a photograph and now need to correct the angle of an object that's embedded in the photo.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to get a NEF files made on a Nikon D800E to Import to Lightroom 4.4 with Camera raw 7.4. I get an error that states the following files were not imported because they could not be read.
I can import them to Photoshop CS6 and use them in photoshop but cannot find any way to get them into Lightroom. For a while my photos were partially importing and some NEF files werent on the first few tries (but subsequently did). I have updated LR, updated Camera RAW, updated the MAC operating system, and have a newer version of PS (CS6). I have tried from the camera directly and through a card reader with multiple cards but nothing works.
How do I make changes made in develop permanent without opening in PS and saving as a copy? Any way to do that directly?

Problem : The corrections made on my DNGs in LR4 are not being acquired by BridgePS4 or Elements 10. The neither the images in the filmstrip nor the DNG file when opened in PS4 or Elements Camera Raw reflect the LR4 corrections. Puzzling, since the Cropping and Corrections Applied Indicators are shown with the Bridge filmstrip images. And, when I re-Save Bridge does acknowledge that it is doing new thumbnail extractions .
I’ve done all I’m aware to do.Save in LR4 in Library Mode with filters off. Did an Update DNG previews and metedata. Automatically write changes to XMP is ON. Restarted the machine
To troubleshoot, I brought a few of those images( again DNGs) into LR3, did corrections and saved.These images were rendered properly in Bridge’s filmstrip and corrections were carried into Camera Raw without issue.
I would like to learn the reason why adjustments made on detail panel don't affect histogram.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI transfer my adjustments from lightroom to photoshop for additional editing. The adjustments show in the new Photoshop file. However, when I make a selection from that file and copy and paste it into a different Ps file, it does not show the adjustments. I even tryed saving the adjusted photoshop file as a jpeg and then opening it up and reselecting what I want.....Copy and paste it.....and the adjustments still don't appear on the different Ps file/photo. How can I keep the adjustments made in lightroom as a selection to copy and paste to a new file?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIt's my understanding that a change made to a disconnected smart preview will automatically update the main database when connected to the drive containing the photo and database. Mine doesn't seem to work automatically. After reconnecting i have to save the metadata for the changed files on the version of Lightroom with the samrt previews and then read the metadata on the primary version of Lightroom. Do both versions of Lightroom need smart previews installed? Should I use a certain procedure of which i'm not aware? I have an iMac for my main computer and a Mac Book Pro for the remote computer.

I right click and go through the edit menu and does not appear or is not available? Would I have to reopen it manual in photoshop or is there a way around this to access that setting? it sometimes does not appear on my already edited photos.
I would prefer not to open each photo again, as some files i do not have and were imported into the document with another computer.
I was reorganizing/rationalizing my hard drive file folders outside of Lightroom. Now not all the images in the folders show up in Lightroom 4.4
For instance:
In a 2014 folder there are 25 files. Lightroom's Folders panel shows the number as 15. If I try Import it shows all 25 files but the missing 10 are greyed out and thus not available for import.
If I Syncrhonize the folder, the little dialog says there are 10 files to be imported, but when I click Synchronize another dialog comes up saying there are no files to import.
In the develop module, when I switch to B&W treatment, my understanding was that a different set of sliders such as fill light, brightness would appear. I just see the same sliders as with color treatment.
