View 12 Replies View RelatedIt seems like a simple enough request, but I'm just not seeing it. When I export (from Library) I want all the photos and snapshots of each to be exported. Is there a way to do this? Or, do I need to make virtual copies of each snapshot, THEN do an export?
View 1 Replies View RelatedLR 4.3, Windows 7. I've started using Snapshots as a convenient way to capture in-process images. But, I can't find a couple things I'm sure HAVE to be in here somewhere...
1. The "generate virtual copies from all the snapshots of this image" button
2. The "export all the snapshots to jpgs or tiffs or whatever" button
Under the Develop Module is it possible to export the changes made to an image recorded under the History Tab?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to force Snapshots and Virtual Copies to read metadata from the original raw file after an update of the same?
I had to change the lens name on some Leica M9 files to correct an operator (me) error, and I did it by editing the exif data with an exif editor and then forcing LR4 to read the metadata from the file. This worked well for everithing but the snapshots and the virtual copies on which the metadata remain as originally registered, unchanged.
I've created various snapshots of a series of photos and I'm ready to export. Is there a way to export all the snapshots at once, in a single export step? Up to now, I've been doing this step by step, exporting one version of the image, than going to the next snapshot and exporting again.

I plan to reuse many images and vector arts I've created. As of now, if I want to reuse an image or vector, i have to oepn the file and copy/paste image vector. Is there a faster way than this? Is there a manager I do not know of?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI want to backup my catalog. Specifically, I want to store 2 backups for each catalog.I know how to back them up. I know how to make them backup to a different drive from the catalog. But I'm getting stuck managing the backups.
Catalog backup structure is like this backup folder/date and time/catalog name.lrcat
Say I have a client called "Bob and Sue". I might edit the catalogue every day of the week and take a backup each time - giving me 5 backups. I also have a client called Dick and Jane that I edit on Monday and Wednesday and another called Wendy and Steve that I edit only on Monday.
At the end of the week here is what my backup structure looks like. (I've dropped some times in to make things tidy)
backups/Monday 1100/BobandSue.lrcat
backups/Monday 1115/WendyandSteve.lrcat
backups/Monday 1200/DickandJane.lrcat
backups/Tuesday 1100/BobandSue.lrcat
backups/Monday 0900/DickandJane.lrcat
backups/Wednesday 1100/BobandSue.lrcat
backups/Thursday 1100/BobandSue.lrcat
backups/Friday 1100/BobandSue.lrcat
I am trying to learn layers and layer masks. I loaded an image, than control J to duplicate it. I then added a layer mask. Everything good so far. I then went to filters chose a blur. Then went to brushes with black as my foreground color, I just wanted to brush away the blur, and got an error message. "could not use the history brush because the history state does not have a corresponding layer."
View 3 Replies View RelatedEverytime I try to use my history brush, that error pops up and I have no clue why. If I try to just open a blank document and use the brush it does not give me this error and I can "use" the brush but you cant see anything on the project.
so when this error happens im trying to do a project and say I place a file(picture) into the project and this is the very first thing I do. I place it, then I size the image down some. I then make a new layer to use the brush for behind the picture and then this is when I get the error. I have no clue what is wrong
I have 6 external hard drives containing NEF / JPG and DNG files plus i have some more recent photos on my laptop hard drive some of the files are the same on several of the drives (backup copies)
what would be the best way to merge all this into a single LR 4 catalog ?
or would it make sense to have a separate catalog for each external drive ?
I only have one drive connected to the computer at one time
I'm using LR to manage and inventory over 40K digital and scanned photos (JPG, TIF). I use the keywords/tags to categorize and search for relevant photos.
I'm also an amateur geneaologist and am scanning thousands of historical documents primarily as PDF files (and JPG/TIF). And I have a huge library of digital videos (primarily MPEG4, MPEG2, MOV, and AVI) that I would like to inventory and categorize/tag.
Of course, I'm not expecting LR to be able to edit the documents and videos, but it would be great to be able to import them into LR's database so I can search for content.
I am using Photoshop CS3 for a photography class. I was playing around with the Filters and Image Adjustments of one of my photos and my teacher really liked it. I thought I remembered what I did, but when I tried to replicate the result with another photo it didn't seem the same.
I saved the first one as a photoshop image. Is there any way I could find a history of exactly what I did to that first photo so that I can do it again to other photos?
I have to migrate from a windows pc to a mac. I have already installed Lightroom 4.4 on the new mac book pro. How can I manage the migration without loosing all my Catalogs, photos, templates, and all the work done on my photos with Lightroom? Which files do I have to paste and copy in my new mac? Do I have to do some other operations before (backup or other?)
View 1 Replies View RelatedRight now I am working on a Win 7 64 computer and have a Canon MP810 printer. I read the materials on color management and set my color management in "Print" in Lightroom 4 to "managed by printer". My printer color management in advanced settings is set all to defaults. When I print a photo from Lightroom 4, there is a distinct magenta cast to the entire photo, but it's most observable in midtone neutrals. A burnt out section of a lightbulb goes white, for instance, but greys seem to go pinkish, greens to a rust, etc. I also printed the same photo from a windows file, using Windows 7 print mode. That photo seemed to go slightly magenta in the neutrals but not nearly to the same degree. what I might try or test to see if I can get my print colors more accurate?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 279,94 GB in pictures files and my lightroom catalog backup file is about 272. I tried deleting older backups but had to put them back because Lightroom crashed and had to recover. I moved the Backup folder to an external disk, but seems that I cannot do anything about the files that are in the fomer folder in my computer.
I have only 15 GB left in my 1TB Hard disk iMac !!
I am using PS CS3. I would like to know if it is possible to save the edit history of a file - for example if I open a file I worked on a week ago I want to be able to find out what work had been done to it (eg levels, sharpening, curves etc). As far as I know, history is lost after a file is saved (in a flattened image).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running Photoshop CS3 v10.0.1 on Vista SP1, brand-new HP Pavilion m8400f machine w/AMD Phenom 9500 QuadCore 2.2GHz, 3GB RAM, ~600GB free still on HDD, not even old enough to bother defragging yet. I have a nVidia GeForce 8500 GT video card w/256MB dedicated video memory. Driver is updated.
I was working on an image and had to walk away for a bit. While I was gone, it went into screensaver, and when I came back, after logging back in I found that the image I had been working on had reverted back to an earlier state and that the history was cleared. No error messages came up and Photoshop was not frozen, crashed or etc. Business as usual, except that the image was "old," and the history gone.
Luckily it was recoverable, but I'm concerned about this happening again when it isn't. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm fairly sure I didn't click anything by mistake, press a key I shouldn't have...
When I croped image to make a background for my web, I couldn't return back to first size - history was empty. All layers(about 30) have 192px*1px now. What I have to do?!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've used History Snapshots before, even changing the current view from within InDesign, but today I opened a file that should have had two snapshots saved in it, but both snapshots were gone.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI would like to know if there is a way to see the names of the brushes used in the History Panel?? All it says is "Add brush stroke" I that if you click on the brushes dots on the photo that you can see which brush is used, but I hate editing with those on, so I turn them off. Which means I have to do several clicks just to see what brushes I have already used. It would be so useful to just be able to see in my history which ones I used especially when you have to stop editing before you are totally finished with the photo and come back to it later.
View 7 Replies View RelatedUsing Lightroom 5 I made several changes to a photo. One of the first changes I made was to crop. I now find I cropped too much. Is there a way to copy or save the several correct changes and redo the crop? Is there a way to start a new copy of the photo with some of the changes from the first copy?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using Lightroom 3.4.1 and Windows 7. Upon shutting Lightroom down I got a message that Lightroom was unable to backup my catalog until it was repaired. When I reopened Lightroom it gave me the option to repair the catalog. The repair was "successful" and Lightroom opened as usual. However, the history panel of every single picture is blank BUT the pictures did retain my Lightroom changes. How to get that back? I do have a catalog backup but it does not include the work I just finished as I was shutting down Lightroom. I also have all my RAW files as well as their sidecar files.
