View 2 RepliesIf I create a file in Photoshop without coming from Lightroom or duplicate a file in Photoshop that I opened from Lightroom, is there a way to save the new file from Photoshop to the desired directory on my local hard drive and simultaneously have it added to my Lightroom catalog? Or do I need to save the file then import the file into the catalog? I'm working with CS6.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy camera(Canon 7D) is configured to save both JPG and CR2. When I import them, in the import window, I do not see duplicate photos, just the CR2 files. After the import is complete, I still only see one type of files imported, the DNG files and I do not see duplicate image with JPG extension. However, when I browsed to the import folder, I see both JPG and DNG.
How do I properly import the CR2 files only? Only ovbious way is for me to remove JPG files from the card before I import CR2 files into Lightroom, but that doesn't sound right... To me, it seems like there might be a configuration somewhere.
wall trying to export GPS coordinates. Here's the situation:
Lightroom 4.1 Camera (Canon) RAW imported from camera directly to DNG (no location info present) Location added via Map module, and additional metadata (Title, Caption, Keywords, Copyright, etc...) added Save Location not set to Private Export Metadata settings "Remove location info" is NOT checked (i.e., do not remove it)
I export to JPG and the location is not present. Flickr cannot see it, and I load it into Photoshop and examine the metadata and location is not there. I have also used some other online tools to verify it is missing, as well as Geosetter. If I set it in Geosetter, the data is then there. However, Lightroom 4.1 is just not saving it, and I have scoured all the settings looking for any other options.
This is crucial to my workflow and I'd prefer to do as much as possible inside LR and not have to use external tools.
I use Lightroom 4 and when I went in to look at some images I had recently edited, (all my images are large jpegs, and I "add" my photos to LR) they all started to change to some weird high contrast edit right before my eyes, one by one without me touching or changing anything. They also had a little exclamation point on them. When I clicked on the exclamation it says "the metadata was changed by Lightroom and another application" and I could "import settings from the disk or overwrite the disk settings." When I clicked import settings it reverted back to my original edit. But this didn't last.. after a few minutes they kept changing back to this other random edit.
I read online that I should save the metadata so it can't be changed, so I highlighted every image I have in Lightroom and saved the metadata. (this took about an hour for Lightroom to do) But now when I go back into Lightroom to look at my photos they do something different.. now they start to revert back to the original UNEDITED files all my themselves, one by one! I have already exported all the edited photos into folders so I have them. But what do I do!? If I ever want to go back to an edited photo and export it at a different size or retouch it or something, none of the edits are saved, I have to start from scratch! I'm a wedding photographer and I'm scared to load more images and work on them just for LR to change them back
When ever I make changes to my photos in Lightroom it doesn't seem like they are saved when I export them out of Lightroom, especially when cropping. They don't look as clear and as nice when I view them in Lightroom.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI finished a project yesterday only to find that LR4 did not save any of the changes to my images.
I checked my second computer and it works fine but for some reason my laptop LR4 is not saving the edits to my images. I open the subfolder for LR images and they are untouched.
other than using my second computer! My workflow is set up to edit on Laptop and do bookeeping on my PC.
I accidently forgot to open a new catalogue before editing my RAW files. Lightroom 3.6 allowed me to edit all my pictures but now I can't export any of them to save as JPEGs. Is there any way for me to export these pictures or do I have to start over from square one?
View 5 Replies View RelatedLR4 will not save a custom preset. I am experiencing this issue in the Book module for Layout presets, in the identity plate setup. Even in export I am not able to see my saved preset, I mean it does not even exist. After I save a preset in export and I go to export with preset my new preset does not exist.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI use lightroom 4 to design album pages. (Mac mountain Lion if it's relevant). When I complete a page, I don't always print it at that time, because I may need to make changes later. I choose to "save created page". If I want to layout another page, I have to "create a new page" and close the previous one. Most of the time when I return to the saved page the layout is gone. The images I used are shown in the filmstrip, but the layout is gone.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have lightroom 3. I have set my camera on shooting in jpg and raw. I import them both and get them as 1 picture in lightroom. When I rate the picture with a star and I save it to the exif data it only saves it to thseperate xmp file. Also if I rotate the picture it only writes it in the separate file. I want to save also the exif data to the jpg file. How can I do this in one go?
View 17 Replies View RelatedI am shooting in RAW, then converting to DNG and the dimension of my photos is 3872 x 2592 (I guess thats always the same?)
Now I need to have a picture dimension of 3500px x 3500px and one 4600px x 3000px. How do I get there?
I assume resizing the photo in the export feature to that dimension is gonna decrease the quality?
When I export a photo into photoshop and make my changes, as I save as a tif, it isnt automatically updated in lightroom, so I constantly have to sync the folder.
My previous versions of LR (before 5), this would update automatically and as I would return to LR, the new file would be there.
How can I change this?
I recently purchased Adobe Lightroom for a photography class. The professor is requiring us to save and email him contact sheets. He has given instructions on how to do this with a Mac, but how to do so on a PC.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I do a Edit in Photoshop, LR creates a TIF file. I process this in Photoshop and close it saving it back to LR. It saves in the same folder as the original on the hard disk. Is there any way I can get these files to save in a new folder under the originals automatically? (all the files for processing should go in this folder)
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have a problem saving a web gallery locally: I originally build/saved/uploaded a web gallery (www.myreimannfamily.de >dogs < Inouk and Tofino >2013).I now modified/added pictures to this gallery and tried to save it again locally. Got the error message:
export did not complete successfully it then showed all pictures in the collection then the message: JPEG files were generated using the best pixel data available in the image cache the local web gallery structure (content, resources...) were correctly created but all files were completely empty All image files are there and can be modified at high resolution in the Develop mode.
Since the original set up of this gallery I:
upraded to LR 5.3
converted some .nef files to .dng
If I delete the saved web gallery and create the same gallery from scratch, the same problem/error message pops up. Construction of other web galleries is no problem (up to now)
I have been doing some night time photography and occasionally have images in which I apply some heavy noise reduction and sharpening. I am looking for a way to recall all of the settings in the Detail tab.
I don't want to apply this set of adjustments on all of my images as I import them—just a few specific images after importing.
Can I do this in LR 4.2?
LR 3 just recently stopped saving my imports into the folders. Luckily, I exported the edits as jpgs so at least have the edited images saved elsewhere, but only my most recent imports show up in the LR catalog. I'm a relatively experienced LR user, and don't know what suddenly went wrong.
View 10 Replies View RelatedIn a nut shell if I use lightroom 3 only and print images the printed images look exactly the same to the monitor - therefore I would assume the calbration of the screen is okay.
If I use lightroom 3 and export to CS5 to continue making more adjustments when I save the image as jpeg it appears to have saved okay. However if you then maximise the photo to full screen the colours change - drastically. Basically they look aweful. They become quite dull and lose there saturation adjustments (which were done orginally in Lightroom). They print this way too.
I don't think it has anything to do with calibration because it's all okay when just using LR3.
I have played around with this quite a bit to try and find a solution and have now found that if I export lightroom to CS5 and don't make any changes to the photos but just save it - it's still changing the colours
I am not exporting from lightroom to CS5. All I am doing is selecting the Right clicking and selecting Edit in>Adobe Photoshop CS5.1....
Then in CS5 it opens and appears exactly the same as it was in LR From there I click file>save as>format Jpeg and there is another box checked labelled - ICC Profile: Prophoto RGB (not really sure what this is and there are no other options to change it)
I have tried to show a difference in colour by attaching the photo.
Picture on right is Lightroom edited. Those colours are what you see when it is maximised on screen and the colours print correctly too . This photo was then opened in CS5 (photo on left) (with the LR adjustments) and saved as jpeg and you can see how the colours change. But you don't see the change unless screen is fully maximised - and it prints that way too.
Is it possible to save the original photograph as well as the edited one? I would like both but I don't know how to save them both...in LIghtroom, it just seems to edit the picture and then the original is gone....
View 2 Replies View RelatedI did a series of shots with an incorrect EV setting ( Exposure compensation) so I used Lightroom 4.3 to modify the exposure on these jpeg files. I then exported the modified images, and found that the file size was only 50% of the original.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am trying to export a 97 page book filled mostly with images to pdf. There are a several pages with solid text. Halfway through Lightroom's saving process, it pops up with "An error occurred while saving the book: an error occurred adding text and fonts to the book."
All the images are in one folder, I have made sure LR is locating the images correctly, and the font is the default myriad pro.
Very often, but no always, when I save metadata in the file, appear an "not known error system" message
View 2 Replies View RelatedIsn't writing metadata to the XMP space of a file (jpeg or dng) altering the file? I assumed that non-destructive meant not changing the original file in any way, and this rewrites the file and thus changes the modification date. And if the Develop settings are included, then doesn't that confuse things as to which version will be displayed by an application that opens it? Do I need to store the original somewhere else? Or am I misunderstanding how this all works?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using LR4 and Photoshop CS6. What has recently started happening is when I send an image from LR to CS6 and then save the image I reopen the image in LR and find that all of the basic settings have been changed.
I am referring to the Exposure, Contrast, Highlights, Shadows, Whites, Blacks. Even if I send the image to CS6 and make no changes, only chosing to save the image before closing, when I reopen it in LR it appears blown out because of the changes in these settings. I there a setting in preferences or somewhere that could have somehow been changed and causing this? Have updated both programs so am using the most recent versions.
It seems that when I open the image back up in LR it is way overexposed, however if I send it back to Photoshop the image is appears to be exposed properly like when I saved it.
I exported an image from LightRoom to Photoshop to edit it. After saving it in Photoshop and closing, I went back to LightRoom and couldn't find it anywhere. Usually it's in the same folder as the original. I also can't find it anywhere on my hard drive or in recent files in Photoshop. I know it saved it because it was a huge file and I had to wait for it to save before photoshop would close.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI tend to always have a few pictures in rotation that I end up cropping multiple times when I am printing. Pictures where today I need to print a 4x6 and tomorrow it's a 5x7 of the same picture, etc. I am trying to figure out a way to save the file with that cropping. Ideally there would be a way that if I also modified anything else in the image that would also show up in the other versions. I know there is Create Virtual Copy, and that could work if I could then figure out how to change the file name so it would show that it was cropped for 5x7 or whatever.
