I have LR 4.3 in Windows 7, i donloaded from Canon 60D but all i get id grey boxes in grey boxes but in PSE-11 I get photos, WHAT GIVES? i am not computer literate so keep it simple.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was using lightroom3 today when all of the suddenly some of my pictures (far away from all) got like a coloured box on top of them.. I have attached a photo since it's a little hard to explain. notice that a very small part of all of the pictures is still as normal and the colour box seems to somewhat match the colours of the specific photos.. This is not a recently uploaded catalog and it has always worked fine. The weird thing is that even the original photos in My Documents look the same when previewed in the folder.. However- The exact photos look perfectly normal when opened with Microsoft's Picture Manager.

It looks really bad doing it freehand,is there a way to just set the space so it looks even? And how can I add colours to the empty space? Must I use white background instead of transparent?
Final question,how can I do those grey boxes like those on URL banner. And those lines that fade out plus how can I sort of make the lines "pop-up" or have that 3d effect,sort of like emboss I guess.

Here's the situation. I have a block that will be inserted showing a piece of angle iron that is used for a stiffener. We have various sizes that will need to be used. Instead of typing in the angle size each time it's inserted can I have a list of all the angle sizes and then a pick box or radial dial or something to be selected and that is what is put in the block?

This works perfectly for quickly assessing brightness and contrast of pictures.
In pse 10 however I could not find any button to change the preset lightgrey background colour to darkgrey.
I am currently running Map 3D 2012 with CadWorx and I am having an issue with one of my multi tab drawings. Any object set to plot grey (any grey), that is in paper space, is plotting black only in one of my layouts. similar objects in model space and in both spaces on other layouts are all plotting accordingly.

lightroom 4. Every box in filmstrip or main is greyed out.
tried optimizing catalog, tried launching other catalogs. all is the same. i cant see any pics no matter what i doi re-installed the display driver.
everything else on the computer looks fine. its weird. histograms show in devolop module, and the folders show on the botttom. nothing reporting as missing. where i can look in win 7 system?
All of my pictures in LR4 have turned to gray boxes. The data is still there but the pictures are gray boxes. get my photos back.
View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently upgraded and am trying to Import Raw photos. The are imported into Lightroom but show up as grey tiles and will not open. When I go to Photoshop CS-5, they open fine. I had this problem when I first opened the program and it was a monitor problem. I got it corrected with tech support then and as I remember it was sRGB problem.

Yesterday I went into my old Lightroom 4 on my computer, retrieved a photo, exported it and shut down. Late last night I went to open Lightroom 5.2 and when I did all the photos are a screen of light grey with a light grey border. It seems all the date is there, but no photos show in either Lightroom 5.2 or Lightroom 4.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a large single catalogue of photos. Some of the thumbnails in the library are now appearing greyed out. I think they were all there a few days ago, and since then the only things I have done are upload more images, cull those I did not want and backup the catalogue. I do not recall having this issue with LR3, and they all seemed OK when I upgraded to LR4. I have restarted LR several times, and it makes no difference. My Mac tells me all programs are up to date.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using Windows 7x64 and have recently installed Lightroom 4.3. Initially worked well but after installing Photoshop CS6 I can no longer see images. The metadata and histograms are there but no images. What I see is a set of gray frames, one for each image in the imported group. Each frame is numbered sequentially, and the total gray frames is the same as the number of images in the imported file.
Using the "Develop" mode I still see only a gray box, though the histogram is live, and as I move the cursor across the gray box it shows R, G, and B characteristics as if the photograph is visible.
When installed recently Lightroom 4.0 deleted all my AutoPlay options and inserted itself in all the option boxes. No other options are available. It also reset my System Restore options to "OFF", deleting all my previous restore points, so I cannot restore my registry to an earlier date.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I import images I cannot see them in the previews. I have set 1:1, standard, and minimal but it makes no difference. The images show as grey in the preview. When I go to the develop modual I can see the image I select but if I select another image the first goes gray again. For some reason I cannot render previews. Have I turned something off or on? Can I render previews after importing images? The files show up as DNG in my hard drive.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have seen a problem like this before, and raised a question on the forum, but realised what was wrong (the problem happened on a full colour image, and once I set the Process to 2012 it went away). However it has cropped up again, and this time the image was imported directly into LR4 so Process was 2012 by default.
I have an image which is a glass with liquid in against a black background. I have made a few tweaks in LR and am ready to send it off for printing. I just though I would take a look in Soft Proofing to see how the coloured liquid looked. When I click soft proofing and choose the correct profile supplied by my printing company (which is a 'glossy' profile), the black takes on a milky grey appearance, but according to LR is not out of Gamut.
If I choose the matt profile from my printing company, the same effect is there, but less so.
I rather think that this is quirk of softproofing black, what with black not actually being a colour and all that. Since there are no gamut warnings, and I have never had a problem with printed images on a black background, then I think I should ignore this. It does give a rather mis-leading impression though.
Using Lightroom 5.2 on a Windows 7 PC. I used to see a grey icon in the upper right corner of an image on the filmstrip to show it has been selected as part of my quick collection. I could also click in the top right corner to add an image to the quick collection. Now no grey dot is visible and clicking in the top right corner does not add the image. My only option is to hit the B key to add. I suspect it is related to Flash. I have the latest version installed but in some cases when browsing in IE, I'm asked to install Flash even though it is installed and verified on the Adobe site.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI run a HP DV6 Laptop with Core I7 and Windows 7. While editing my photos my computer appeared to over heat (which is a recurring issue that I'm working to resolve) during mid-post production. Upon restarting my computer, and when I accessed the same photos, I got a very lengthy loading icon when I clicked on a photo under the "Develop" tab. This problem recurred and in attempt to resolve the problem I decided to delete the library and re-import the files. Upon re-import, I cannot view all the photos in the library grid view. I'm not sure if my files are now corrupt from the sudden crash or is it just a data issue with LR?
I've attached a screen shot of what the problem library looks like...
My L 4 Library suddenly shows only the first thumbnail in a catalog. All the rest of the thumbnail windows are grey. Only thr last import sghows the full catalog.

Photos in whatever module cannot dispaly images after having worked properly for a while in any module no image display but grey rectangles... asking for "display in the explorer" shows in superposition that images are ther...
catalogue seems ok (structure and all, metadata are ok, in the development module memory has been kept of photos adjustment...
Re-opening catalog or optimizing does not have any effect....
Quiting LR is just abrupt with no asking for back-up...
A friend of mine has been happily using / importing Sony Nex 7 Raw images into Lightroom 4.2 / 4.3 for a long time when suddenly this happens.
Note the grey border all around the image.
This file was imported with: No develop presetNo metadata preset.Process 2012.Various std in the box profiles. Here is a screen paste of the file dimensions (also showing that it is a raw file and not cropped).
All Sony Nex raw files imported to a particular machine (Win 7, 64 bit) demonstrate this behaviour. So, in trying to trace the problem.
The crop tool was checked to make sure there was no crop applied. They grey border is not just a visual border. If you examine the jpg it is actually grey pixels consuming a large percentage of the native 6000x4000 Nex 7 resolution.The Reset button was pressed also,to make sure the raw file conversion was restored to basecamp.History reset.A raw image imported into the same machine / software from a Nikon D300 behaves perfectly.Previously imported Nex 7 Raw images are ok.When the images are imported into two other machines they imports perfectly.Scrapping the preference file makes no difference.Overlay mode was checked, an overlay image loaded and then overlay mode turned off… just to make sure this was NO overlay.Applying a crop and then removing a crop still leaves the grey border.Applying the crop reduces the image dimensions to approx.. 4946 x 3293. Exporting an image to jpg (as shown) leaves image with grey border. This grey border can be cropped out, but it means the resolution will reduce.Exploring various scene modes / in camera crops / resolution settings on the camera does not seem to make any difference.Formatting the card in the camera, take a picture, import directly from card. 3 different cards used. (No change).When using the Catelog on a different machine the grey border remains.
NB Camera set to RAW + jpeg. Jpeg's import without border.
So finally last night…
……. we uninstalled Lightroom 4.3 and re-installed into a different folder. (No change).
When I use Lightroom with the LG 29EA93 29 inch Widescreen LED Monitor Lightroom 5 initially looks and works OK but when I try and make changes using develop I get a gray area where the image should be (see below). I have tried other resolutions and that made no difference. Other apps/programs work fine.
I tried my old monitor 1680x1050 and Lightroom 5 functions fine on that one.
the current raw converter in LR5, Bridge CS6 and Photoshop CS6 produces magenta or green pixel errors on grey ridges (e.g. mountain structures).
In Nikons NX View 2 does this problem not occur.
