In apparently just one folder in my catalog, thumbnails in grid view have four different shades of grey:
The upper-right thumbnail is most selected, and the one to the right of it is selected. But why do the remaining thumbnails have two different shades of grey?
I have a large single catalogue of photos. Some of the thumbnails in the library are now appearing greyed out. I think they were all there a few days ago, and since then the only things I have done are upload more images, cull those I did not want and backup the catalogue. I do not recall having this issue with LR3, and they all seemed OK when I upgraded to LR4. I have restarted LR several times, and it makes no difference. My Mac tells me all programs are up to date.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am creating a simple background using 'Artistic effect - Sponge' in illustrator CS6. I took a simple Khaki box and put it through the effect. I like how the effect looks, it turned the background into a blotchy pattern contrasting from greys to khaki tones. Is it possible to set the parameters so that it would contrast between shades of lavender and khaki instead of the greys it is using now?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am wondering if this could really be the intended LR behaviour? I start from a smart collection, one of the criteria is "has no adjustments".
Ok, as soon as I move the first slider in develop module, it no longer matches that criterion. But that should be no reason for LR to force me to immediately stop the develop edits on the selected image.
It immediately unselects, and I stay in Develop module with a grey window and the message "no image selected". (It does not move on to the next image, which still matches the criterion.)
I would expect that when I return to Library module, it would return to the same smart collection where I started, but I would not find my last developed images there, as they no longer match the criterion. But that LR grabs it immediately out of my develop selection?
Strange enough it stays the same, when I first explicitely selected all images while in Library/smart collection.
My expectation would be that I have this selection fixed to work on in Develop module. Similar to when I select any images from survey view and go to Develop module.
But no, the only workaround I found is:
Start from the smart collection, ctrl a to select all, then arbitrarily click on another collection withput this criterion - selection stays fixed - then move over to Develop module.
This is LR4.1 on Win7.
Definitely my functional specification would be: never take off an image from Develop unless the user moves on to another image. So ignore from where an image was picked.
Would you consider this a bug? Or a "feature"?
Do you see the same in LR4.2 or 4.3RC? Behaviour on a Mac?

Eg if I have a gradient blue to green and recolor the green into red, then it won't be a gradient anymore. Also, using eg. antialiasing for lines you get lighter shades of the chosen color, again maing it problematic to change the line into another color. What to do?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSince it's new version Xara asks me which colour I'd like to replace when I drag a colour to an unselected object that has a gradient fill. With Xara 8 you'd have a clue which colour you'd replace for the icon would chance (an arrow with a little block over or under another tiny arrow).
XDP9 also gives this feedback but once dropped comes up with a dialogue where one can choose which colour you'd like to have replaced. This is a nuisance, actually.
So, I'd love to have this behaviour stopped. Any settings or reg-entry that disables this?
(post scriptum: This behaviour even has it's inconsistencies: dragging and dropping a colour over an object with a gradient fill brings up the dialogue. It offers to "replace all" colour but when you select that option it refuses to do that and just replaces the selected colour (the top one).
If you click a colour in the colourline with a gradient filled object selected the dialogue also shows but when one chooses the "replace all" button it does what it says and replaces all colours except the line colour (which should have been replaces as well)
I'm quite new to 3DS Max and I'm using the 2013 version. Normally, all the edges on any unselected objects in my scene were grey, but all of a sudden, every edges in the scene became white, and they remained white even when nothing were selected.
I don't know if I have used a shortcut that I'm not aware of, but this is really anoying. I can't tell which object is selected .
can I alter the BACKGROUND COLOUR from the Grey to a lighter grey as in P/Shop Album 2.00 which is just what I want..I hate the darker colour as background..I have just purchased the Elements 11.

This works perfectly for quickly assessing brightness and contrast of pictures.
In pse 10 however I could not find any button to change the preset lightgrey background colour to darkgrey.
I am currently running Map 3D 2012 with CadWorx and I am having an issue with one of my multi tab drawings. Any object set to plot grey (any grey), that is in paper space, is plotting black only in one of my layouts. similar objects in model space and in both spaces on other layouts are all plotting accordingly.
View 0 Replies View RelatedIn Photoshop CS6, if using Free Transform to change the size of a newly-made selection, you have to click 'Maintain Aspect Ratio' option every time to maintain the aspect ratio. How annoying is that! Why isn't this 'Maintain Aspect Ratio' option selected by default? Certainly in my case, there are vastly more occasions when I want to maintain the aspect ratio, and so, in my case at least, it would be much more user-friendly to have 'Maintain Aspect Ratio' selected, by default. Or, alternatively, why isn't there an option in Preferences to either have 'Maintain Aspect Ratio' automatically selected, or unselected, by default, leaving the user to toggle from this starting position, if they want?

lightroom 4. Every box in filmstrip or main is greyed out.
tried optimizing catalog, tried launching other catalogs. all is the same. i cant see any pics no matter what i doi re-installed the display driver.
everything else on the computer looks fine. its weird. histograms show in devolop module, and the folders show on the botttom. nothing reporting as missing. where i can look in win 7 system?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI'm running Snow Leopard (10.6.8) and Lightroom 3.4.1 with Camera Raw 6.4.1.I like to convert to DNG when I bring in the RAW files from my Panansonic DMC-GH2 camera.
OS X Finder will show thumbnails and previews of the original RAW files; however after Lightroom converts the RAW files to DNG, the DNG files have no thumbnail or preview images in the Finder ... just the DNG icon.
Is there some Lightroom or Snow Leopard setting I can tinker to fix this? My import/convert settings are thus:
File Extension: DNG
Compatibility: Camera Raw 5.4 and later
JPEG Preview: Medium Size
Embed Original Raw File is UNCHECKED
Recently upgraded and am trying to Import Raw photos. The are imported into Lightroom but show up as grey tiles and will not open. When I go to Photoshop CS-5, they open fine. I had this problem when I first opened the program and it was a monitor problem. I got it corrected with tech support then and as I remember it was sRGB problem.

Yesterday I went into my old Lightroom 4 on my computer, retrieved a photo, exported it and shut down. Late last night I went to open Lightroom 5.2 and when I did all the photos are a screen of light grey with a light grey border. It seems all the date is there, but no photos show in either Lightroom 5.2 or Lightroom 4.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I import images I cannot see them in the previews. I have set 1:1, standard, and minimal but it makes no difference. The images show as grey in the preview. When I go to the develop modual I can see the image I select but if I select another image the first goes gray again. For some reason I cannot render previews. Have I turned something off or on? Can I render previews after importing images? The files show up as DNG in my hard drive.

If I drag a gray square, a very small thumbnail shows up-but,alas, it disappears. I have filters turned off. CC photoshop works fine as does Bridge. No question marks visible on files in LR. All files I am using are on a exterior HD. However, I tried downloading new photos from a card reader-same result no thumbnails.

Using LR 3.3 on a Mac with Snow L. My catalog shows 72 images in a ceertain folder, but only 8 actually show as thumbnails. I therefore have no access (in LR) to the other 64. If I search for one of them by name, it can't find it. If I try to re-import them, LR shows them as already imported.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just moved my Lightroom catalog to a new PC. I designated the new folder correctly and have no lost files but my thumbnails only show when I scroll to them in Library. If I go to a new position, I have to wait for them to refresh (create?). I have optimized the catalog several times. Is there an easy way to refresh them all? I have plenty of memory, computer speed, and Lightroom expertise.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have seen a problem like this before, and raised a question on the forum, but realised what was wrong (the problem happened on a full colour image, and once I set the Process to 2012 it went away). However it has cropped up again, and this time the image was imported directly into LR4 so Process was 2012 by default.
I have an image which is a glass with liquid in against a black background. I have made a few tweaks in LR and am ready to send it off for printing. I just though I would take a look in Soft Proofing to see how the coloured liquid looked. When I click soft proofing and choose the correct profile supplied by my printing company (which is a 'glossy' profile), the black takes on a milky grey appearance, but according to LR is not out of Gamut.
If I choose the matt profile from my printing company, the same effect is there, but less so.
I rather think that this is quirk of softproofing black, what with black not actually being a colour and all that. Since there are no gamut warnings, and I have never had a problem with printed images on a black background, then I think I should ignore this. It does give a rather mis-leading impression though.
Using Lightroom 5.2 on a Windows 7 PC. I used to see a grey icon in the upper right corner of an image on the filmstrip to show it has been selected as part of my quick collection. I could also click in the top right corner to add an image to the quick collection. Now no grey dot is visible and clicking in the top right corner does not add the image. My only option is to hit the B key to add. I suspect it is related to Flash. I have the latest version installed but in some cases when browsing in IE, I'm asked to install Flash even though it is installed and verified on the Adobe site.
