Jul 26, 2012how do i get rid of the ever prevalent selection ants that mark all the layers. This feature is very distracting and uncalled for.

Lightroom :: 4 Will Not Import All Images From 5d Mark III
Sep 30, 2012I imported my images from my 5d mark iii via LR4. The first 203 images imported perfectly the last 125 did not. The message read "the following files were not imported because the could not be read"? I don't understand, they were all on the same card? They show in lightroom when you are selecting which ones to import, they just will not import. I tried it two times My LR4 is updated as well.

Jan 3, 2013i need your opinion regarding a phenomena i am observing in the RAW images from Mark iii.The following images appear to be absolutely correct in the camera and when viewed through a picture viewer.I have tried and tested the following scenarios:
1. Used a medium speed kingston CF Card (new) and transferred the images through the USB cable supplied with the camera.2. Thought the card might be slow OR faulty.. used Sandisk Extreme and Extreme Pro SD Cards but same result.3. Transferred SD Card data through the builit in laptop card reader.4. Have directly imported the images from SD Card into Lightroom 4.3, copied the data firstly to laptop HDD and then imported, copied the SD card data to an external HDD and then copied.same result!!5. Have tried the same with both Win7 and Mac OS.6. The DPP sw that came with the camera gives the error of 'Decoding Failed' with these images.
Usually 10-15 images out of 100 give this kinda pattern.

Mar 2, 2012I am having trouble with the Raw fies that have been adjusted in the Develop Module loosing all of their luster and pop when switching back to Library and exporting. In other words, my adjustments are generally flattened out and colors muted when going from Develop to Library. I see that the Camera Calibration shows only ONE profile option: Matrix. However, the same single option for my 7D is also Matrix but the Raw files appear to hold my adjustments after being made in the Develop module.
I am using LR 2.7 and Camera Raw 5.7.

Aug 16, 2013I have a brand new Macbook Pro with Retina Display and am running CS6, shooting with a Mark III in full resolution raw format. Focus is on in camera but when I open the images in Photoshop, they do not appear super sharp when zoomed in.
Is this a display issue or a program issue or something else? In the past I can usually get the images so sharp that I can see every pore and hair.
GIMP :: How To Change Number Of Tick Mark In Ruler Units
May 18, 2013Currently when I create a new layer within an image, and set the horizontal and vertical size using “inches” instead of “pixels,” and display the image at 100%, it shows 10 tick marks in the ruler to equal 1 inch.
I want rulers in my image to be scaled at 1/8”. Therefore, it should show 8 tick marks in the ruler with each tick mark (incremental unit) to represent the 1/8” scale. Example: 4 tick marks would equal ½”.
Xara :: Drag Colour To Unselected Object
Aug 22, 2013Since it's new version Xara asks me which colour I'd like to replace when I drag a colour to an unselected object that has a gradient fill. With Xara 8 you'd have a clue which colour you'd replace for the icon would chance (an arrow with a little block over or under another tiny arrow).
XDP9 also gives this feedback but once dropped comes up with a dialogue where one can choose which colour you'd like to have replaced. This is a nuisance, actually.
So, I'd love to have this behaviour stopped. Any settings or reg-entry that disables this?
(post scriptum: This behaviour even has it's inconsistencies: dragging and dropping a colour over an object with a gradient fill brings up the dialogue. It offers to "replace all" colour but when you select that option it refuses to do that and just replaces the selected colour (the top one).
If you click a colour in the colourline with a gradient filled object selected the dialogue also shows but when one chooses the "replace all" button it does what it says and replaces all colours except the line colour (which should have been replaces as well)
3ds Max :: All Edges On Unselected Objects Remain White
Feb 11, 2013I'm quite new to 3DS Max and I'm using the 2013 version. Normally, all the edges on any unselected objects in my scene were grey, but all of a sudden, every edges in the scene became white, and they remained white even when nothing were selected.
I don't know if I have used a shortcut that I'm not aware of, but this is really anoying. I can't tell which object is selected .

The upper-right thumbnail is most selected, and the one to the right of it is selected. But why do the remaining thumbnails have two different shades of grey?
Lightroom :: Developing Image From Smart Collection Has No Adjustments - Immediately Unselected
Nov 25, 2012I am wondering if this could really be the intended LR behaviour? I start from a smart collection, one of the criteria is "has no adjustments".
Ok, as soon as I move the first slider in develop module, it no longer matches that criterion. But that should be no reason for LR to force me to immediately stop the develop edits on the selected image.
It immediately unselects, and I stay in Develop module with a grey window and the message "no image selected". (It does not move on to the next image, which still matches the criterion.)
I would expect that when I return to Library module, it would return to the same smart collection where I started, but I would not find my last developed images there, as they no longer match the criterion. But that LR grabs it immediately out of my develop selection?
Strange enough it stays the same, when I first explicitely selected all images while in Library/smart collection.
My expectation would be that I have this selection fixed to work on in Develop module. Similar to when I select any images from survey view and go to Develop module.
But no, the only workaround I found is:
Start from the smart collection, ctrl a to select all, then arbitrarily click on another collection withput this criterion - selection stays fixed - then move over to Develop module.
This is LR4.1 on Win7.
Definitely my functional specification would be: never take off an image from Develop unless the user moves on to another image. So ignore from where an image was picked.
Would you consider this a bug? Or a "feature"?
Do you see the same in LR4.2 or 4.3RC? Behaviour on a Mac?
Photoshop :: CS6 / Why Is Maintain Aspect Ratio In Free Transform Mode Unselected By Default
Oct 3, 2012In Photoshop CS6, if using Free Transform to change the size of a newly-made selection, you have to click 'Maintain Aspect Ratio' option every time to maintain the aspect ratio. How annoying is that! Why isn't this 'Maintain Aspect Ratio' option selected by default? Certainly in my case, there are vastly more occasions when I want to maintain the aspect ratio, and so, in my case at least, it would be much more user-friendly to have 'Maintain Aspect Ratio' selected, by default. Or, alternatively, why isn't there an option in Preferences to either have 'Maintain Aspect Ratio' automatically selected, or unselected, by default, leaving the user to toggle from this starting position, if they want?

I have loads of PNGs with tranparent backgrounds, I love the auto-crop feature, I'd like to automatically do this to hundreds of images. Basically these images have a small picture in the middle, with lots of blank space around them, I'd like to get rid of this space. It would take really long to autocrop each one manually.

Until recently Gimp has either supported transparency of .png image files or automatically added an alpha channel to the image. This I don't know. I do a lot of rendering and have always been able to take a .png or convert any image type to a .png, create a path, and delete everything outside of the path and end up with a transparent background.
But something has changed where I must now manually add an alpha channel to a .png image in order to end up with a “transparent background”. what changed in Gimp that I can no longer just erase or delete a selected area of a png resulting in a transparent area?

Jul 1, 2011I have two satellite images that I am comparing to look for changes in topography between the two dates at which the images were taken. I was going to use the Layers Divide Mode, but the problem is that any brightness changes AND non-changes show up as white (the algorithm gimp uses is 256*Image1/(image2+1) ), so you can see if the pixels of image1 and 2 are the same, it'll give a pixel with value 256, and if image 1 has brighter pixel than image 2, it will give a value greater than 256...which gets converted back to 256. I've also looked into the Difference and Subtract modes, but they take absolute values or sets anything negative to 0, which skews my results. Basically, I'm wondering if there is something in gimp which will allow me to compare the two images, kind of like creating a ratio image in ENVI where darker colors stand for darkening over time, whiter colors stand for brightening, and greyish colors show non-changes. I want to divide one pixel value by the other, and use that value to create a new ratio image.
