View 12 Replies View RelatedI work in a print shop that prints biggish stuff. I will frequently have files that postscript to close to a GB or more. Working on simple vector art with a few images in CC is not too much of a problem, but I still notice CC is slower than CS 6. The big problem is when I get a few 200mb PDF's, or files with layers of transparent PSD files in them etc, big busy files, then AI CC really bogs down, or frequently crashes altogether. CS 6 is MUCH better. I don't have the font issues, AI CC works fine with simple files. Saving & opening these big files is such a problem, I just save them back to CS 6, but that causes problems too, I do not want to, nor should I have to have 2 versions open at the same time.
I always try to optimize the files as best possible, but it is tough sometimes as they R supplied by the customer, and the time it takes. We save to a Windows Server 2008 R2 box over gigabit network, which I know is not best practice, but no choice with the sheer volume of files. Would B insane to try to keep track & copy them back & forth, and it was never a big issue with CS 6. I am the first victim in our office, but the other 3 Mac Pro's will B switching over to CC this week, and I know the operators will B crying.

I have CS5, and someone sent an .ai file that was created in CS6, and I am unable to open and edit page 2. Ideally, I would like to be able to have both pages open in one doc as artboards, however, if need be, I'm happy to just open page 2.If it matters, I have Mac OSX Lion 10.7.5.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been working on a PDF project for a few weeks now and it's been working perfectly. However yesterday, I was suddenly unable to open the PDF as a whole and instead, I was prompted to select a specific page to open. The strange thing is that other PDF files that I've been working with will still open with multiple artboards but this file won't.
View 5 Replies View RelatedCorelDRAW X6 has been lovely and fast for me these last few months but the reason I quit Corel for a number of years was that, after a while it seemed to slow down. Now, suddenly, when I save a file of exit the program freezes for approx 35 seconds before finally closing. It makes no difference where I save the file (on my SSD C Drive or elsewhere). I have a 6 core, 32gb RAM etc and, as I was saying, it worked until today but suddenly this.

View 1 Replies View Relatedhow I can easily find openings in a spline and/or overlapping vertices and edges that prevent the extrude modifier from working correctly? Â I very frequently need to import .DWG's and .AI's and many times they have hundreds of vertices. Â Even after I apply a normalize spline modifier to diminish the vertex count, it can be quite tedious to find breaks and overlaps. Â I find fiddling with the weld verts also to be a pain (usually removes more vertices than I want). Â I just want to graphically see it on the screen the problematic areas if possible. Â Attached is a good example. Â I can easily see on 2 of the splines the yellow vertex to signify start/finish but on the 3rd spline I don't see anything. Â There are 2 vertices in the same spot and it looks like 1 white vertex. Â I've never really used Xview but I'm probably not using it correctly. Â When I use it I get a bunch of green vertices that aren't in any way overlapping.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis was very easy to do in earlier versions of Illustrator, but now it seems like the only option is to make a separate artboard for each page tile!
View 1 Replies View Relatedhow to get the page count of a multi page PDF file? I know you can then open each page using the PDFFileOptions (pagetoopen). But I need to know up front how many pages there are to loop thru to open each page and process each page.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI use my photoshop daily and have about 50000 images on my computer so very much need the bridge to be able to view them all and select the ones I want. for the past few days I have been getting "photoshop has encountered an error and needs to close" every time I try to open a file through bridge, quite often I also get the same error message on the bridge as well a few seconds later.

I have tried reinstalling photoshop, I even tried deleting all the presets which I have added over the years and trying it straight from the reinstall, it still does the same,
I need to copy and rename my current drawing then open the copied drawing, and I need to close the original drawing.
However when I try to both open the renamed drawing and close the original drawing (in the code below), the original drawing will not close.
If I don't open the renamed drawing, the following code works and I can close the original drawing.

In the past two days, two-page PDFs that I save out of CS6 are printing with the second page upside down. I have tried resaving the documents—didn't work. Tried saving the documents as individual PDFs and combining the PDFs in Acrobat—didn't work. I have had my colleagues print them, and the second page is upside-down too. When I print two-page PDFs that I saved last week or longer ago, I have no problem at all. It just seems to be happening with recently saved PDFs. I didn't update any software on my computer between saving the PDFs that are printing correctly and when this problem began.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have purchased CS6 and I am having problems with the 64-bit version. After I open it completely freezes and I have to force close it. This happens every time I open it. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing it multiples times. I didn't have this issue with CS5. I am running this on a Mac 10.6.8, Processsor 2.8 with 8GB memory.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've made a fairly extended action that consists of several groups/folders. Unfortunately, the action leaves one group in particular open, and I would prefer it closed.
Â
I woud simply extend the action by one step, that of closing the group; but clicking the open/close triangle seems not to be a recordable step.Nor can I find a menu option. How can I record the closing of a group?

I have a close font but the 'g' needs to be open as in Arial.Â
I'm wondering if there is a way to either close or hide an open form with iLogic? Something like the opposite of iLogicForm.Show.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI had Inventor 2013 and it worked well for a long time, I didn't use it for a while, then yesterday I tried to use it again and it wouldn't work. It starts up fine, and gets to the menu where you can choose from recent files, new files, tutorials, etc. After I select anything to open, whether its a new or old file, the program will load open the file then immediately stop working. No error message is displayed besides Windows telling me "this program has stopped working". I updated to 2014 yesterday, and the exact same problem persists.

View 6 Replies View RelatedIs there a way Autocad could just do what I asked for, and nothing more?A few examples
- After publishing, the publish dialog auto closes. Â I don't wat that. Â After publishing dwf I also want pdf.(I know you can save the list, that's not the point. Â If you didn't close the dialog I wouldn't need it)
- When selecting a hatch, the ribbon automatically jumps to Hatch Editor. Â I don't want that. Â Maybe I just want to change the layer. Â I can find the Hatch editor my self..Dito for XREFS
- I do not want any dialog giving me warnings, about anything. Â
If an XREF doesn't get attached, I can see that. Â I don't need a dialog telling me.If a shape file is missing, I can see that..A triangle sign above the command line is totaly adequate.Don't auto open or close dialogs, for what ever reason.
So ... don't auto do anything I can perfectly do manualy. Â No doubt there are a few more examples I can't think of right now.The nice thing would be to get a variable that gives me that "no auto" mode. Â
I have some code (below) that will open my embedded excel spread sheet and it works great.  Now I need the code to save and close the excel file after it’s been open. The embedded excel spreadsheet pushes some stuff the model and does a couple other thing. So all I really need is for the excel file to open, save, and close when the rule is run.Imports Inventor.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI downloaded successfully, installed CS4, registered and it is activated. My only problem is it takes a LONG time for CS4 to open. From the time you double click the icon, it seems like it takes forever before the blue box pops up, then it takes longer than CS3 to get to the open program. As far as I can tell, I have the same settings for both programs but CS3 beats it hands down for speed to open. I am running 3 gb of memory, an Intel Quad 4 processor, and lots of disk space.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe problem is that opening files is painfully slow - having read about the issue with network printers (which I don't have) I have deleted everything listed under printers and re-installed the only printer that I have (which is locally attached via USB, but I deleted it in case Adobe thought is was a network printer). I have tried to create a generic printer (as recommended by Mr Joslin to jangel2 uRL.... but the installation failed and no additional printers were visible in control panel/printers.

I am running Windows 7 on a Dell desktop, with plenty of memory etc. I have a number of external hard drives, and have turned all these on so Photoshop can find them in case it's looking, but this made no difference.
I just dropped a very large sum of $ to purchase CS4 Extended and the #$*@# thing is taking over 5 minutes to open!!! (Yes, I've timed it.) Once open it appears to run fine, although I've yet to put it through it's paces much. The obvious answer would be that I have an undersized slow computer. However, that is far from the case. I have a brand new Dell laptop with plenty of 'horsepower', much more than the system requirements listed on the outside of the box. It does the same thing with both the 64 bit and 32 bit version.
Here are a few of the "vitals" on the laptop: Operating System: Windows Vista 64-bit Version: 6.0 Service Pack 1Processor Core Duo2: 2493 MHzVideo Card: VIDI GeForce 8600M 250MB GT/PCI/SSE2Built-in memory: 4093 MBImage cache levels: 4Hard Drive: 500G
I've recently updated to 2.8.6. I've noticed that opening files is extremely slow. Once the file is open it works fine, but it takes way too much time, even just opening folders. I use the program for photo editing.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have CS6 installed on a Mac Pro desktop, 3.3 Ghz machine, 6 Gb RAM, running OS X Mountain Lion. Everything is running fine, updated and it's a great machine. But I've noticed that opening Photoshop files that are somewhat large and layered take WAY too long to open or "save." I mean...3 minutes is much too long to wait.
I have a spare physical drive configured (in preferences) for extra RAM, with plenty of empty drive space. The startup drive has well over 250 Gb of space remaining.
Â
The only applications running are Photoshop and Bridge. There is 6 Gb of RAM to run these applications and open files. OpenGL is checked in Preferences and I'm running an nVidia graphics card, as well.
We have started to deploy AutoCAD 2011 64 Bit on Windows 7 64 Bit machines and have come across an issue where when opening or saving files across a Cisco WAAS accelerated network that have referenced images takes a lot more time than drawings that do not have attached images. We have updated graphics drivers to the most recent certified driver from the autodesk site as well as disabling Aero and all the other Windows 7 tweaks to no avail. The files with images still open/save much slower than those without.
