Aug 2, 2011I use CorelDRAW on a daily basis and recently the program takes a lot of time to open/close/save my files, or sometimes it'll simply freeze.

Dec 19, 2011I just replaced the hard drive in my laptop. I have installed Coreldraw 12 again and it opens and works fine.
Problem is when I create and save a file. The file appears on the desktop ( if that is where I save it ) but it has an odd icon with a red A on the bottom corner. If I click on it, I get a "not a valid win32 application" message.
However if I open Corel12 and import the file, it appears to be fine.

Apr 23, 2012I have recently installed Corel X6 and have found it to be painfully slow when opening files. At first I had thought it might be a network issue so I copied the file to a local drive and experienced the same problem.
The file is only 819Kb but it takes about 3 minutes to open the file. When I first select the file in the File Open dialogue window Corel just hangs for about 1 minute. It finally responds then takes a further 2 minutes to process and open the file.
I have turned off my antivirus software as I thought this might be a file scanning issue but still the same result.

Sep 22, 2013CorelDRAW X6 has been lovely and fast for me these last few months but the reason I quit Corel for a number of years was that, after a while it seemed to slow down. Now, suddenly, when I save a file of exit the program freezes for approx 35 seconds before finally closing. It makes no difference where I save the file (on my SSD C Drive or elsewhere). I have a 6 core, 32gb RAM etc and, as I was saying, it worked until today but suddenly this.

Jan 14, 2013I am new to Corel Draw X4 after using illustrator. I created some artwork for a client in hot pink. But when I try to print, or to save as a pdf, or open in illustrator it is not pink.
What do I need to do with my color settings? I have contacted Oki who assisted my in downloading the correct driver to print pantone colors. Therefore must by color settings in Corel Draw?

Jan 25, 2013About a month and a half ago, after a microsoft update, I cannot open .cdr files from the file/open list. When going to file/open, the programs hangs up, cannot even use "cancel", and have to go to Windows Task Manager to shut down the program. All is well until I try to open a file from file/open.
I can import .eps, and everything else seems fine.My work around is to open from My Documents --Which works fine. Just is a silly little aggravation.
I have uninstalled, reinstalled, repaired, etc....all the normal fixes.

Mar 4, 2013I have tried on numerous occasions to save my corel draw files to adobe illustrator but once you try to save a page in corel to AI the program locks up in the background so that you can't close it and when I try to enter my new AI file into my internet "dropbox" so that my web-designer can use the files, I am just informed that copying the file into dropbox is not possible as the file is currently open in Corel Draw?
I have tried to get the hot-fix/updated patch for Corel X6 however that is an even worse nightmare with all the swings and roundabouts Corel trys to get you to go on before you can get a simple update.
My web designer is waiting to start work on my new website but I just can not get my design work to him.

May 30, 2012Corel has suddenly started corrupting any new files I save. I'll make a file, save it, then when I open it... It goes through the motions of opening it, but when it is done nothing opens. There is nothing there.
If I change the file to a zip file and open the riffDATA.cdr file that works, but this CAN'T be my solution. Could a virus have corrupted Corel?

Jun 16, 2013I have looked at the galleries and saw some excellent pictures. Since then I no longer can open any file . I uninstalled Coreldraw 15 and even went to repair mode, still no luck. (I reinstalled and removed many times).
I reinstalled Coreldraw 14 and any file I work on and save and close I cannot open the file.
It seems I have picked up a virus from the pictures I uploaded from Corel gallery.

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4 :: Recover CDR Files That Won't Open?
Mar 10, 2010Half a year ago I started on a project with a CD-cover that wasn't finished. Now when I want to open them, It's impossible. If I click on the files X4 opens and immediately crashes. On all CDR files. Same thing with X5. but I can open a CDR file in the folder next to this. Even the backup files seem to be corrupt. The CPT-files do however open fine.
If I start the program first and then open or import a CDR file, the progress bar halts at about 50 % and then nothing much happens.
Any chance of recovering the files, or do I have to rebuild everything?
I know one strange thing happened when I created the first file. I saved the Digipak format as a new page format and then that format stuck as default page size. I tried many times to reset it to A4, but I didn't succeed with that until I reset the workspace.
I checked the CDR files in ZIP format. In the XML file I coud see that the industry was identified as "music". How could that happen?

all of my Cdr files be corrupted . they show their real size (eg 23mb ) but when i open them it show white page. Dec 13, 2011discovered a program crash while opening a Corel v.8 file created with Corel X5. Any other version of exported files works probably, only if exported compatible to v.8 reopening with Corel X5 causes a program crash.

Aug 17, 2011I have multiple files open in Corel every day, and then, at the end of the day I have to run to get my lift (never at the same time!) and I would love a way to save all my files with just a click of a button.
I know Dreamweaver had this function - not sure if it still has, but I would love for Corel to have this so I don't have to scroll through all my open files and save them! If the file is not named it can pop up the save as box as usual and leave it open till the next day.
I have to save before I go, as we have very unreliable power and the UPS systems are not reliable either.

Somehow i have to End Process of installation and though find X5 in my Start menu of Windows XP SP2. Well the actual problem started when i recently tried to publish PDF for one of my client's brochure of 17 pages, X5 closes all of a sudden and i have to restart the whole process. At times it creates a PDF which then has errors and Acrobat Reader don't read it.At times X5 even gives Error while saving files. Then have to click Save till it actually saves the file.I uninstalled X5 thinking, there could be some corrupted files and re-installed, but all in vain..

Jul 3, 2012I'm using Windows 7. The previews were working now they just don't work, "preview not available". I see no check box in window 7 to turn that on or off, unlike in windows xp. I have tried turning on large thumbnails in windows explorer when opening files, older files will show up but most recent files just show the Corel Draw icon large.
Could this be some kind of auto update from Windows? Since I have no destination, I'm never lost.
