I downloaded successfully, installed CS4, registered and it is activated. My only problem is it takes a LONG time for CS4 to open. From the time you double click the icon, it seems like it takes forever before the blue box pops up, then it takes longer than CS3 to get to the open program. As far as I can tell, I have the same settings for both programs but CS3 beats it hands down for speed to open. I am running 3 gb of memory, an Intel Quad 4 processor, and lots of disk space.
The problem is that opening files is painfully slow - having read about the issue with network printers (which I don't have) I have deleted everything listed under printers and re-installed the only printer that I have (which is locally attached via USB, but I deleted it in case Adobe thought is was a network printer). I have tried to create a generic printer (as recommended by Mr Joslin to jangel2 uRL.... but the installation failed and no additional printers were visible in control panel/printers. Â I am running Windows 7 on a Dell desktop, with plenty of memory etc. I have a number of external hard drives, and have turned all these on so Photoshop can find them in case it's looking, but this made no difference.
I just dropped a very large sum of $ to purchase CS4 Extended and the #$*@# thing is taking over 5 minutes to open!!! (Yes, I've timed it.) Once open it appears to run fine, although I've yet to put it through it's paces much. The obvious answer would be that I have an undersized slow computer. However, that is far from the case. I have a brand new Dell laptop with plenty of 'horsepower', much more than the system requirements listed on the outside of the box. It does the same thing with both the 64 bit and 32 bit version.
Here are a few of the "vitals" on the laptop: Operating System: Windows Vista 64-bit Version: 6.0 Service Pack 1Processor Core Duo2: 2493 MHzVideo Card: VIDI GeForce 8600M 250MB GT/PCI/SSE2Built-in memory: 4093 MBImage cache levels: 4Hard Drive: 500G
I have CS6 installed on a Mac Pro desktop, 3.3 Ghz machine, 6 Gb RAM, running OS X Mountain Lion. Everything is running fine, updated and it's a great machine. But I've noticed that opening Photoshop files that are somewhat large and layered take WAY too long to open or "save." I mean...3 minutes is much too long to wait.
I have a spare physical drive configured (in preferences) for extra RAM, with plenty of empty drive space. The startup drive has well over 250 Gb of space remaining.  The only applications running are Photoshop and Bridge. There is 6 Gb of RAM to run these applications and open files. OpenGL is checked in Preferences and I'm running an nVidia graphics card, as well.
My 8 core 2.8 GHz Mac Pro has 10 GB RAM and a blank 100 GB scratch disk. Photoshop is always quick. Has been for years. Suddenly today, Photoshop is slow like molasses to open & save files. Lots of progress bars and wait cursors. Everything else on the Mac is fine. It boots quickly & normally, and other apps are happy. My boot drive, a clean installed Mountain Lion system, says S.M.A.R.T. Status: Verified. In Activity Monitor, a process with ID # 0, Kernel Task, was using 700 to 800 MB RAM, while another process, mds, with ID # 44, is using 350 MB RAM. Â I should add that I booted from a backup system and its copy of Photoshop was also doing the same thing. In addition, a high level troubleshooter on Apple Discussions informed me that my present level of 500 MB RAM for Kernel Task is normal. So all I know is Photoshop is suddenly slow.
i have like 20 frames and the delay between the frames is 0,01 sec's, its perfect in the preview, but when im exporting it, its really slow. i've even deleted like the half of the frames and its still very slow, im using Photoshop CS4 and the file is like 500KB and there are like 43-50 colors, its also slow when i upload it on tumblr or something.
I've recently updated to 2.8.6. I've noticed that opening files is extremely slow. Once the file is open it works fine, but it takes way too much time, even just opening folders. I use the program for photo editing.
We have started to deploy AutoCAD 2011 64 Bit on Windows 7 64 Bit machines and have come across an issue where when opening or saving files across a Cisco WAAS accelerated network that have referenced images takes a lot more time than drawings that do not have attached images. We have updated graphics drivers to the most recent certified driver from the autodesk site as well as disabling Aero and all the other Windows 7 tweaks to no avail. The files with images still open/save much slower than those without.
I've downloaded the trial version of Lightroom 4.1 to give a try with my raw files. Â First LR is very slow at generating the preview (takes about 30 sec for some files), the only filter applied at import is "Lens correction".
When Applying corrections, it takes seveal seconds to see it on the preview and there is also a lot of lag. Â Maybe is a limitation of the trial ? My RAW files are CR2 from a DSLR Canon EOS 60D (18 Mpix): 5184x3456. Â I try LR on the following setup: Â OS: Windows 7 SP1 32bit CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ RAM: 2 GB HD system: 7200 RPM 300 GB Screen resolution: 1920x1080
Autocad 2012 was working fine until a week ago when it started taking a long time to open drawings--even search for drawings on our network. It also takes at least 30 seconds to save files, where it used to take 5 seconds at most.Â
I found the AutoCad 2012 and AutoCad LT 2012 SP1 Ribbon Hotfix, which sounded like my problem, but it is for Product Version F.107.0.0 and I have Product Version F.51.0.0.
I am using Autocad2014. I have had issues with two windows7 64bit machines where using the file open dialogue (network file) has an 8 second delay to open the file. If I open using recent documents(in cad) or windows file explorer to open them, there is no delay. Moving the file to the local machine stops the delay, but removing XREF's did not.
I work in a print shop that prints biggish stuff. I will frequently have files that postscript to close to a GB or more. Working on simple vector art with a few images in CC is not too much of a problem, but I still notice CC is slower than CS 6. The big problem is when I get a few 200mb PDF's, or files with layers of transparent PSD files in them etc, big busy files, then AI CC really bogs down, or frequently crashes altogether. CS 6 is MUCH better. I don't have the font issues, AI CC works fine with simple files. Saving & opening these big files is such a problem, I just save them back to CS 6, but that causes problems too, I do not want to, nor should I have to have 2 versions open at the same time.
I always try to optimize the files as best possible, but it is tough sometimes as they R supplied by the customer, and the time it takes. We save to a Windows Server 2008 R2 box over gigabit network, which I know is not best practice, but no choice with the sheer volume of files. Would B insane to try to keep track & copy them back & forth, and it was never a big issue with CS 6. I am the first victim in our office, but the other 3 Mac Pro's will B switching over to CC this week, and I know the operators will B crying. Â Mac Pro 2.4GHZ 12 core 32GB 1TB Mac OS X 10.7.5
I have recently installed Corel X6 and have found it to be painfully slow when opening files. At first I had thought it might be a network issue so I copied the file to a local drive and experienced the same problem.Â
The file is only 819Kb but it takes about 3 minutes to open the file. When I first select the file in the File Open dialogue window Corel just hangs for about 1 minute. It finally responds then takes a further 2 minutes to process and open the file.
I have turned off my antivirus software as I thought this might be a file scanning issue but still the same result.
I am having an issue when opening and saving files is very slow when I have a project active in the Project Navigator.
If I have an active project, and I open a file via Project Navigator or Windows Explorer, the process hangs for 15-20+ seconds at the 'Opening C:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.ac$' point, where it is creating the temporary file.
If I 'Close the current project' in the project browser and open the same file via Windows Explorer, the process takes less than a second.
how to make my photshop application fast few days ago it was working good but now its performance is slow and my computers speed is also slow. How to fix it?
When press "open" the "open"-window dosn't open. Insted it open a comandpromt by the cursor that promt me to enter full search-way and name on the file I want to open.
I am getting lots of problems with CS4, some of which have been covered in separate topics on this forum. In the main, it seems to me that there is a real problem with CS4 processing relatively small amounts of data. The difficulties I am experiencing are:
1. Text tool very slow. Just typing a few letters sees my CPU usage shoot to 50%. There is a lag of about a second between typing the letters and their appearance on the screen.
2. Pen tool very slow with significant lag when using the mouse and CPU again shoots to 50%, even for a short line. If I use the tablet (Trust) it sometimes works, but suffers the same lag as the mouse when it does. Most of the time, though, I just get a faint straight line between the start and end point. This morning I got the same straight line symptom on the mouse!
3. Screen redraw can be painfully slow and blocky, but this fault is really sporadic
4. There is no apparent difference whether I have GPU active or not. However, I have just had a strange message. When GPU was disabled I restarted CS4 and got the message that there was a problem with the display driver, and PS was therefore disabling GPU enhancements! After that, the pen worked fine, and the mouse too, but then the mouse started losing curves.
I experience none of these problems when I run CS.
My video card driver is up to date. The trust tablet driver is the latest, but I really do not think this is the issue, as the drawing problem also affects the mouse.
System spec - XP with SP3, AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+, 2GB RAM, nVidia Geforce 7600GT, Program on Raptor 70GB, Scratch on separate 70GB Raptor
I run Intel core 2 Quad 2.4 o.c to 3.3, 8GB 1066DDR2 RAM, 512MG NVidia 8800GT, 150GB 10,000RPM WD HDD Windows Vista Ultimate x64. My worst inversion was this pice of crap photoshop CS4. I used to open up to 400 10.3MegaPixel photos with CS2. CS4 drags down just with 100. Won't let me open more than 200. Too bad, come on desingers. I challenge to run my PC against yours. I've tried to configure CS4 to work the way I need it but unfortunatelly I have to wait until "ADOBE" software engineers come up with a new version so I can spend more money on their so famously pirated software to fix the bugs they sold on the previous version. Close to imposible to work with two screens working with different resolution. Photoshop stops functioning everytime an image changes from the main monitor to a secondary monitor. The old friendly Photoshop CS2 allows me to bring anything accross either screen with a continous display of the image. I used to be a Photoshop fan unfortunatelly CS4 lowered my espectations down to about 5%. Might be looking forward to try the competition for a much lower price.Â
When I goto Layer Style>Bevel&Emboss or any other layer style, it takes a LONG time for the layer styles window to come up. Like a minute and a half. I'm just wondering how I can fix this? It never used to do it when I first installed photoshop.
I have two systems. The first a windows 7 32 bit quad core with 8 gigs ram cs4 is installed on this sytem. Time to print a standard job on an epson 4800 (which includes hitting print, selecting options for the printer and then being able to close the file and open another) less than a minute.  Recently installed cs6 on new windows 7 x64 intel core i7 system with 12 gigs ram. I have used both cs4 and cs5 on this newer system. Both ran the same file in under a minute to print as outlined above. Once I installed cs6 however the print time ( as defined above) for the same file above has now gone to 22+ minutes. on cs6, 18+ minutes on cs5 and approx the same for cs4 (all versions of CS are 64 bit on this system)  If there isn't an update to cs6 soon, I presume I will have to de-activate cs6, cs5 and cs4 and then re-install cs4 and cs5 to take advantage of my faster system is that correct?
When ever i insert a gradient or a photo it comes up with a progress bar which takes ages to load and it used to load in 1 second but now it takes ages , i have looked every where but there was no results, I am currently editing a Wedding Movie in a different Program but i also need to make a menu for when the DVD is in the DVD Player but i went to Photoshop to edit a photo but this happened and i have reinstalled it but nothing has changed. I have tried the Edit then Performance solution but that did nothing.
Photoshop CC is loading slow. I dont have much loaded.I am running it with MagicPicker 3, it wont save the tool the way I left it. Digital Heavens tool panel (easy to run actions)AD_Artbox, that now wont run the tools - panel to run actions. It did before the update.
After upgrading to CC from Photoshop C6, my pen tool is moving in slow motion. How to get it to work in real-time again? My system is top-of-the-line MacBookPro with OS 10.9.
Recently was forced to switch back to Win 7 from OSX after many years. I have the lastest PS CC on the Win 7 machine with 8 gb of RAM installed and an i5 processor. I haven't used PS on Windows since CS5 maybe CS4. Â Admittedly this is not the fastest or best equipped computer in the world but then I am only doing web design at 72 dpi. I do use allot of layers though but that is nothing new. Â Whenever I click to zoom in or out the disc starts thrashing and there is a long delay resulting in nothing happening. I have to click to zoom a second or even third time before I can get it to work. Â As an example I will use a file that has allot of layers but is 14.1 mb on disc it is 1.3 gb when open. On a Macbook Pro 2011 with 4 gb of RAM I have no issues with zooming with open GL on or off. The Win 7 machine, same file, has significant zooming issues. Â I have only one disc in both machines. The Win 7 machine has Mcaffee anti-virus on it but no disc encription. The mac does not have anti-virus installed. I am quite willing to either increase the RAM in the Win 7 machine or get another HD to use as the scratch disc but I don't want to push my boss to make a purchase unless I am sure it will solve the issue and I am not convinced it will. Â Would buying hardware solve the issue or would adjusting the preferences somehow solve it. My preferences for performance on both machines are the standard settings PS ships with.
I have problem with save for web in PS CS5 (12.0.1). It is extremely slow. For example selecting anything from menus takes couple of seconds. I deleted PS preferences files but that didn't work. Â My system is Win7 x64, Intel i7 930, 8gb RAM.
my copy of Photoshop CS6 sometimes won't launch and when it does manage to launch fully, it's really slow. I mean ridiculously slow. The only times when I can get it to run even remotely quick is if I shut down my computer, and then restart it and then start up Photoshop CS6 as the first program. Even then it slows down after a while. (And I only have a firefox browser open usually, never more than a couple of tabs at once, so it's not a bandwidth issue)  Here are my comp specs:  Samsung  Processor:  AMD A6-3420M APU with Radeon (Tm) HD graphics 1.50 ghz Installed Memory (RAM) - 4.00 (3.48 usable) 64 Bit operating System running on Windows 7 home premium, service pack 1  I also did just recently install the new update Adobe had for Photoshop, so that's up to date.
I've just applied the latest update, but am experiencing very slow image loading times between LR 4.1 and CS6 Extended edition. I am using an iMac 27 2.8Ghz with 8Gig of System Ram, over 300Gig of HDD free space. Â Upon selecting edit-in CS6 with an image in LR 4.1, CS6 starts up with a long splash screen, loads, then I get a spinning grey circle, then CS6 loads on the desktop, then I get a colored spinning circle, before my image finally appears. Â I have performance set to an external scratch disk witih 624G of free space, 5644 MB of memory usage at 74%, HS at 30 CL at 7 CTS at 1028K Â I have CS5 still installed and it's load times are about twice as fast as CS 6
I have Mac Book Pro 2010 with 8 GB Ram and all CS6 programs runs smoothly but photoshop os slow and also all text i type have gaged hard edges how cna i fix those problems ?
