View 2 RepliesThe problem is that opening files is painfully slow - having read about the issue with network printers (which I don't have) I have deleted everything listed under printers and re-installed the only printer that I have (which is locally attached via USB, but I deleted it in case Adobe thought is was a network printer). I have tried to create a generic printer (as recommended by Mr Joslin to jangel2 uRL.... but the installation failed and no additional printers were visible in control panel/printers.
I am running Windows 7 on a Dell desktop, with plenty of memory etc. I have a number of external hard drives, and have turned all these on so Photoshop can find them in case it's looking, but this made no difference.
Why is Bridge CS6 suddenly slow to open files?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy 8 core 2.8 GHz Mac Pro has 10 GB RAM and a blank 100 GB scratch disk. Photoshop is always quick. Has been for years. Suddenly today, Photoshop is slow like molasses to open & save files. Lots of progress bars and wait cursors. Everything else on the Mac is fine. It boots quickly & normally, and other apps are happy. My boot drive, a clean installed Mountain Lion system, says S.M.A.R.T. Status: Verified. In Activity Monitor, a process with ID # 0, Kernel Task, was using 700 to 800 MB RAM, while another process, mds, with ID # 44, is using 350 MB RAM.
I should add that I booted from a backup system and its copy of Photoshop was also doing the same thing. In addition, a high level troubleshooter on Apple Discussions informed me that my present level of 500 MB RAM for Kernel Task is normal. So all I know is Photoshop is suddenly slow.
I've recently updated to 2.8.6. I've noticed that opening files is extremely slow. Once the file is open it works fine, but it takes way too much time, even just opening folders. I use the program for photo editing.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI work in a print shop that prints biggish stuff. I will frequently have files that postscript to close to a GB or more. Working on simple vector art with a few images in CC is not too much of a problem, but I still notice CC is slower than CS 6. The big problem is when I get a few 200mb PDF's, or files with layers of transparent PSD files in them etc, big busy files, then AI CC really bogs down, or frequently crashes altogether. CS 6 is MUCH better. I don't have the font issues, AI CC works fine with simple files. Saving & opening these big files is such a problem, I just save them back to CS 6, but that causes problems too, I do not want to, nor should I have to have 2 versions open at the same time.
I always try to optimize the files as best possible, but it is tough sometimes as they R supplied by the customer, and the time it takes. We save to a Windows Server 2008 R2 box over gigabit network, which I know is not best practice, but no choice with the sheer volume of files. Would B insane to try to keep track & copy them back & forth, and it was never a big issue with CS 6. I am the first victim in our office, but the other 3 Mac Pro's will B switching over to CC this week, and I know the operators will B crying.

I have recently installed Corel X6 and have found it to be painfully slow when opening files. At first I had thought it might be a network issue so I copied the file to a local drive and experienced the same problem.
The file is only 819Kb but it takes about 3 minutes to open the file. When I first select the file in the File Open dialogue window Corel just hangs for about 1 minute. It finally responds then takes a further 2 minutes to process and open the file.
I have turned off my antivirus software as I thought this might be a file scanning issue but still the same result.
I have just upgraded from PSE10 to PSE12 and now when I use the Slide show (full screen) in organizer with Fujifilm Raw files it take about a minute and a half to load up and same again when you zoom in. Is there any way of speeding this up in PSE12? It was slow in PSE10, but it did take over a minute in total.
View 21 Replies View RelatedI have recently bought a new Nikon D7100 camera . When I try to open some NEF raw files, Photoshop Elements 11 complains my camera is not on the Camerra Raw list. I have tried for hours and hours to see how to fix this ... I have done the usual look at the plug-ins etc - the plug-in states I haev version 7.4 - which according to the blurb means D7100 files should be Ok ... beginning to get a bit pee'd off now with Adobe......

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been using Photoshop Elements 11 for several months with my laptop running Windows 8. All of a sudden today I can't open jpegs. I click "open," navigate to the picture I want to open and nothing happens. I tried holding down, Ctrl, Alt, Shift when starting the editor to reset preferences and that did nothing. I even tried going to Preferences and clicking Reset Preferences on next launch and that also did nothing.

I have exactly the same problem as pewter23 but with Elements 9, but raw files from my old 400D open ok. I have updated through the Help tab but this had made no difference.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI use MediaPro to manage my media assets and it allows me to pass files to PE10 with an "Open With..." feature. So I can have a file selected in MediaPro, and then open that file with PE by using this feature. It worked great with PE8, but for some reason I cannot get it to work with PE10. When I use the feature, PE10 opens, but to a blank page - the actual image fails to come into the program.
I know the problem is NOT with MediaPro, since this worked flawlessly with PE8. The problem appears to be with PE10.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI downloaded Elements 11 Trial and installed it. However, when I tried to start it, the shortcuts that were created were broken. Also, if I launch the Editor directly (Program Files > Adobe > Photoshop Elements 11 > Adobe Photoshop Editor), I cannot open any RAW files (File > Open) . Also, tried running the Application Manager for Updates and none were needed.
If I uninstall it, and reinstall it, will I lose my trial or will it give me the remaining part of my 30 days? I have 28 days left.
cannot open my RAW files from PSE 11 or PSE 10. I recently bought nikon D600 and cannot edit pictures at all. I bought the PSE11 today because a representative from adobe told me today that my camera was supported. I have downloaded DNG converter.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using Photoshop Elements 10 and from time to time I want to open my NEF files. It seems that I need a plug in that will allow me to do so. Link to download and use in conjunction with PElements.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHere are the details:
Windows 7(x64)
Photoshop Elements 7.0
Camera Raw Plugin 5.6.0.148 (old camera raw .8bi file removed, I did not use the 64-bit version of the new Plugin)
Camera: Canon SX50HS (which is included in the list of supported cameras)
Nothing I've tried has eliminated the "wrong type of file" message when trying to open .cr2 files.
So, then I read that I should get the Adobe DNG converter (v7.2.0.46) and convert the files to DNG format. OK, I got the converter but it doesn't recognize the .cr2 files in the folder in which they exist. I read another post which indicated that the DNG converter only worked from the C: root directory. So, I put one of the .cr2 files there, and used that as the folder to "select images to convert". It began scanning my drive, and found all of the .tif files on the drive, but none of the .cr2 files. It did not convert any of the .tif files.
I am new to the use of RAW format images, but not to the concept of drivers, plugins, versions, and following installation instructions precisely and have years of professional experience in software (even more frustrating!). It seems as if there could/should be a plugin update utility that prompts for the camera make/model, verifies that it is compatible, and installs the appropriate software. I'm sure that the camera information is also embedded somewhere in the image file.
I have a dvd with drawing files on it using .eps format. It says that photoshop will open these files but when i try i get a photshop message saying unable to open/read files.
