I have been using CS5 Illustrator for over a year now and have had no problems until yesterday when I opened illustrator and was unable to place any images.

I can click on 'place' and go find the file, it appears to go through the right process then there is no image on the artboard at all, anywhere. Then I decided to open up previously made files that contain placed images and all they have is a bounding box with no image. The Links panel recognises the name of the file but no image is visable, even as a thumbnail.
I opened a new file...Then I tried to place a jpg and it wouldn't allow me. I started getting some missing plugin errors, tried to relaunch illustrator and I cannot. I get the Missing Required plugins PDF Format.aip error. I also cannot re-install as I don't have back-up disk, I work for a non-profit always on a budget.  The PDF Format.aip is in the packages.
I have a psd image containing a number of layers, and a png image with a transparent background. I want to place the png image in the psd image but I'm not having much luck. If I copy and paste the png image, all I get is a selection outline, not the image itself. I created a new layer for the psd image before pasting, but obviously I'm doing something wrong.
I cannot place Photoshop pdf files into InDesign CS5 after updating to LION. I get the error message "Failed to open PDF file." I've tried to save as in Acrobrat and then place, get the same message. I've opened the file in Photoshop to re save and get an error message. I can't change our workflow for just me because I'm the only one having this issue.
I am trying to place some objects on a cone. But i can't get it to work. The idea is that the 6 objects should be fitted on the cone so that they are placed all around the cone. But i can't get them to align with the angle of the cone. I have tried the 3D align, but this just doesn't work for me.
I am having difficulty placing components in my Revit Architecture 2012 model. They are wall hosted (outlets) & floor hosted (floor boxes) components. I have taken the MEP, Base Building, Interiors, and Structural models and linked them into my new file. I have linked them in as overlay. Should I have changed the reference type to attachment? Â When I go to place my components I recieve the following notifications from Revit and am unable to click any walls or floors: "Click on Wall to place Instance" (outlets) "Click on Floor to place Instance" (floor boxes). How do I set up these linked files so I can place my families?
I recently upgraded to PhotoshopCS5.5 and find that I can't print on my HP Photoshop Premium printer. I'm using a MacBook Pro with Mac OSX 10.6.8. I also am unable to open 2 images at the same time.Â
I am using Windows 7 64bit and Inventor 2012 SP1 (Build 190). When placing a new content center item an error message of "Unable to place component" is reported. Content center was working previously.
I determined the problem resulted in using a custom Date format in the Windows Region and Language setting. To duplicate go to Control Panel -> Region and Language ->Formats Tab -> Additional settings button -> Date tab and change the Short date format to a custom format (I was using ddd M/dd).
To fix simply reset to a standard date format.
Note that this can be done whilst Inventor is running and I have have submitted a bug report. None of the standard date formats resulted in errors. I have tested "ddd-dd/M", "ddd/MMM/yyyy", "yyyy/MM/dddd", and "yyyy-MM-ddd" and all resulted in an error. "yyyy-MM-dd" did not result in any error.

Sometimes when I mask an image - or actually - mask a group of several complex images, when I release the mask it is impossible to ungroup the images. Is there a way to make masked groups but then not have that happen?
I have 20 images for a animation I would like to make. I don't want to make a Gif animation, but a PNG animation with Jquery. I need a file like this one: [URL]
How can I import all the 20 images and place them among each other?
Can I place more than one images in the frame? My frame is 1020 by 320. Instead of having one image fill up the space I would like to have 3 images side by side. How do I do this?
Lightroom will not display preview images during import of raw images. Any images in other formats display fine but with raw images I get a gray window the size of the preview image and the words "preview unavailable for this file".
I am creating virtual samples of several hundred coffee mugs using PS CS 5.5. (I have access to CS6 but haven't installed it.) There will be two views of each mug, front and back. The images to be wrapped around the mug are PDFs of identical rectangular dimensions. In general, the effect I seek happens automatically using the 3D cylinder or soda can shapes.  1. Is it possible to buy and install other shapes? Can I buy a white coffee mug? 2. I was also thinking about doing this using the wrap tool and "placing" the image on a mug, then changing the opacity to multiply. Doing it this way makes the effect look more "real." But I don't know how to automate it or if it can be. So far, I'm thinking this would all be hand work.
I have tried to disable photoshop's feature that turns raster images into smart objects when you drag them onto an existing picture, as well as the resizing that occurs. Neither of these general preference settings seems to have any effect.Fully updated CS6
I'm working with InDesign CS5.5 on a Mac and need to import multiple images into separate layers. The imprint project has a base layer template and several company logos that need to go into their own layer. Is there a way to bring all the logos in at once and have them create their own layer without manually creating each layer and placing images one by one? Can InDesign do this automatically or is there a script? I can't seem to find a way to automate this process.
I know how to batch process images to place a logo or watermark on an image. Normally the image is different every time and the exact same logo is placed on all the images.
In this case the image is exactly the same every time but i need it saved in a folder 100 times each with a different logo. So essentially a reverse of the normal process. Same image different logo's.
I have a large job for a client who uses antique computers. They are so old that he can't run Lightroom. As a workaround, I posted the images I wanted him to look at on SmugMug and we had a disaster. Their sequencing on screen does not match my "as shot" sorting on my Lightroom (4). Is there a way I can print sequential serial numbers/ids on my images before I upload them to SmugMug so we are always talking about the same image?
I've been using Illustrator CC from the cloud on Mac OS 10.6.8 fine for months and today after Placing some jpegs into my document it's stopped letting me place anything! I can't even re-link the images that are already there. I've also tried to make a new document.
All of a sudden I cannot place a PSD file into Adobe illustrator? When I drag it in nothing happens. If I use the menu and try to place one nothing happens. If I open up an old file that use to work fine the images now don't appear and just show X'd boxes in keyline view as if the linkage is broken but it's not?
Recently updated to CS6 but one thing very frustrating is that File>Place does not work. When I select it a window will pop up, but as soon as I select any image from the window the entire Illustrator application stops working. Â I was forced to switch back to CS5.
I try to place a jpg or psd graphic inside a normal Illustrator document. Illustrator tells me the graph has no color profile (what is not correct - it has) but whatever option I choose nothing happens - no graphic is placed, I get no cursor to place the graphic. Or Illustrator just crashes. This used to work just fine in earlier version... I use CS6 cloud version.
I am unable to place a Photoshop PSD file in Illustrator and be able to print the document correctly. The Illustrator file is saved as a ai file, both the document & PSD file are CMYK.
On screen the document looks fine but as soon as I have printed the document, some of file has not printed. Do I need to have the Illustrator file as a eps file?
I used to use an old Photoshop version that had a Export Image option, which was great for something like this, but CS3 doesn't have this option.
I need a way for Photoshop to place an object like Illustrator does. Sure, Smart Objects are nice but I need a method where I have a PS file and 1 or more layers in it are referenced. When these references are updated the PS file should update automatically (yes, I will have to have the file open and save ...). Illustrator does this ... page layout apps do this. I need for PS to do this or find a work method that will help do this. Any thoughts? The specific details:We have several hundred images of our app's interface. The images are composites of generic interface and language-specific interface. To make things easier when updating or translating docs we snag the local parts of the interface.We would then place and align the separate images in FrameMaker. We're moving to a new tool and output and we need to put all of the images together in a single image file but want to retain the ability to only update the localized sections. Smart Objects are not smart when trying to do this as they require you to either (essentially) re-import the object (using Replace) or edit the object from the composite image.
