I've made some lines/paths using a broad 20pt stroke which tapers to a point (using variable width profile).
is it possible to turn these paths into filled shapes so the paths would become the outer edges of the current stroke?

I have two layers on the bottom I have text, and on the top I have a shape.
How do I make the shape transparent so the shape may be filled with the background color?
I just thought I would ask... and it may be impossible... Is there a way to convert text to a stroke/strokes instead of a filled path?

Then i convert the color space from CMYK to RGB and the two grays that were identical in CMYK appear very different in RGB. Why is this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have created a compound path in illustrator and when I try to make a clipping mask, rather than revealing the image behind the path, the shape is filled with solid white. I am able to successfully make the mask using one shape or the other, but once I create the compound path, I just get this white fill.
I am in CS5 on Mac OS X (Snow Leopard). See screenshots below.

i have a line art drawing and have expanded the strokes to paths. now i'd need to turn part of the paths back to strokes and can't find an (easy) way to do it.
inserted is an example of the situation. instead of closed path i'd like the form to be a stroke.
In CS6, whenever I add a stroke to a compound path it causes the shape to distort. Found this video of someone suffering from the same error in CS5 [URL]

For example, I trace a square with no stroke, and measures 100mm. When I add a 1pt stroke on it, I would still like the transform box to display 100mm, and not 100,353 mm.

Is there an alternative way of adding the same stroke to the actual fill of a shape? At the moment all of my fill colors are block colors rather than having a kind of chalk / pastel texture that I can get with the brush. View 5 Replies View RelatedI have shape with a 'single tile' bitmap fill and the bitmap is smaller than the shape (which is what I need) but I want the fill of the shape not taken up with the bitmap to be white, however this is defaulting to transparent. I've gotten around this by cloning the shape, setting the fill to flat white and placing it behind the original (bitmap filled) shape. This works fine but is there a way to do this without resorting to this second copy?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having this problem with the stroke weight on my objects staying the same pixel size when I adjust their size. I had this issue in 5.5 and learned how to fix it by the 'Transform Object' panel and deselecting 'Adjust Stroke Weight When Scaling'.
Well, that's turned off in CC, but the stroke is still obviously getting bigger when I increase the size of my object. The stroke weight still says it's the same, but a person can easily tell that the stroke is bigger. And, the 'Adjust Stroke Weight When Scaling' is greyed out. I can't turn it on or off. Something is going on.
Is there a way or an option I am missing to convert my regular paths to a path stroked with a brush profile,while maintining the proper stroke width?
For instance, I have a regular line with a stroke of 5 and then add a brush profile, which then converts the original stroke to whatever the brush was made at.
I have a shape with a black stroke and green fill. I have a white line segment over it. How do I get it so that the end of the line segment doesn't show over the black stroke of the object? If I try to put the line segment behind the object, then the object fill hides it completely.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI often find I need to remove something from a broad gradated area of an image, such as a bill board from a dusk sky. I've always tried to clone the image out, but end up with a mottled area of the sky. If I get it smooth, it seems to have a different texture because I've used a lower opacity in the brush. I've tried replacing the sky with a gradation but blending that at the horizon is always a bit iffy.

I create a lot of 'cartoon type" images in Photoshop using Stroke. After upgrading to from CS2 to CS5 I noticed that when I use stroke to outline my images, the stroke is jagged. This was not an issue in CS2. I have pasted an image below with just a simple shape. The shape is smooth, the stroke is jagged.
This below image is a bit small but you can see the difference in Stroke, the shoe from CS2 is smooth, the mountain from CS5 is jagged.
One can stroke a Path with the Brush Tool, Pencil Tool, Burn Tool, etc., which affects pixels of a targeted pixel Layer.
Shapes can have solid colour strokes, gradient strokes and pattern strokes which are part of the Shape definition.
Am I alone in thinking that it would be useful for Shapes to be able to have their stroke defined as a Brush (and possibly other tools) which doesn't change the pixels of another Layer, and instead remains an editable property of the Shape's appearance?
I have created a shape using the Shape tool and have applied a 1px inside stroke to the shape. The problem is that the stroke appears to be anti-aliased. I want it to be crisp. It is actually a straight line.
