View 6 RepliesI've made some lines/paths using a broad 20pt stroke which tapers to a point (using variable width profile).
is it possible to turn these paths into filled shapes so the paths would become the outer edges of the current stroke?

I was wondering if there is or is a way for example to untick a setting so that I can turn off anti-aliasing for some shapes, and leave anti-aliasing on for other shapes?

The views created are fine, however the detail indicator, the circle with arrows and identifier clutter the face of the object. If i could turn them off i would then use a leader to point to the detail instead, which in my case will be much neater.
I have updated my RFA library to RY2013 (from RY2011, RY2008 before).
Inside Revit (full, Bulilding Design Suite), the preview pane of the "edit type" window shows for the updated component families the sun path circle centered in a position which is far from the insertion point of the component, always got as intersection of 3 strong reference planes with "define origin" checked. Because of this, the preview of the component is not immediately available and several zoom in operations are needed to give a look to the component. This is the case for 3D views and plan views.
The sun path cannot be turned off and also the origin of the sun path cannot be moved inside the family file.
Any solution for the single component family?
Is there a way to batch turn off the sun path circle in every view of each family of the library and also to move the origin of the sun path circle to the insertion point of the family?

I need it to have, say .25" clearance and I mean I can just make the circle the right size... but Inventor/I really should be able to do something this simple...

(R-click and set circle to Radius does nothing, it still wants to dimension it from the center point)
If I use the create new layers panel and click on the make a square with the dashed lines to then fill it in with black or color and the deselect the shape with cntrl+D it will render a perfect polygon, but what if I use the pen tool to draw curves and connect the first anchor point with the last anchor point
How I know there might be a way to turn that shape into a type that I can also select it and fill with color but not asking to make or stroke path. I try to fill in shape with color through the menu task bar on top of the canvas window pane.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm using CS3 on a Mac.
I outlined my text and subtracted it (and the tree image) from the black background. When I did this both appear thinner - particularly the tree.
If I then take the original version and the new subtracted version, and view them both overlayed one on top of the other in wire frame (outline) mode, there is no difference in the actual lines.
It seems to be a problem with the way illustrator previews the images. This wouldn't concern me, but when I export the file as a jpeg, the lines also appear thinner in the export.
I can create a manual solution by offsetting the path before subtracting, but this isn't ideal.
What does it mean when Illustrator v.15.1.0 ceases to contract a shape using offset paths and will only expand a shape? Seems like only yesterday I could render both ways. Wait a minute, it was only yesterday! Why would it suddenly stop funtioning?

I'm trying to repurpose some artwork and am running into an issue. In the image below, I simply want to delete the bottom right corner of the blue box so that the orange background is visible along the right edge of the curved shape and the blue box is visible along the left edge of the curved shape. But I cannot figure out how to do this. I've tried all the Pathfinder choices and none work. How can I do this? CS6, Windows 7.

Everytime I do this, it looks like I have it all lined up and when I make another point, the points move on its own to be off and not cover the object Say I complete the box and try to cover the object by just dragging and dropping, it will avoid that area and move it off to one side or the other but never align with the actual object I'm trying to cover for a smooth and even coverage. Trying to get the red box to cover the black serif and it won't do it.

I'm new to Adobe Illustrator (CS5) and, as the topic says, have an very basic question: how to hide a shape behind another shape? (say a star shape behind a rectangle)
I've looked up on tutorials and such and from what I've seen, the layers order containing each of the objects decides how the occlusion should occur, however I've tried doing that but with no luck, am I missing something here?

View 11 Replies View RelatedWhenever I click to add text to this path, it starts the text at a different point on the path instead of directly where I clicked. If you can see it, towards the left side of the circle where it says "path" in green. Thats where I clicked, but as you can see the actual text would start a little further on the right side
How can I change this...Also I will add. Once I do type my text it is no longer selectable. After typing I switch up to my direct select tool, and as I hover over the text nothing happens. I cant select it, I can only select the blue bars on the sides of it. I want to be able to select my text also. Let's say I've cut a circle in half, and then placed both halves on either side of the art board. Is there a way I can align them back right next to each other so that they appear as a circle once again?
None of the tools in the "align" window allow me to do that.
