I have two layers on the bottom I have text, and on the top I have a shape.
How do I make the shape transparent so the shape may be filled with the background color?
When I put a vector shape over a background color the color of the vector changes, how can I ensure I keep the original colors?
At the moment my background is grey and when I put a lime green vector in front it's turns it to a dark green.
I'm using CS6
I make a shape filled with an 80% black from the CMYK palette (0,0,0,80), and another shape filled with 80% black from the grayscale palette. Then i convert the color space from CMYK to RGB and the two grays that were identical in CMYK appear very different in RGB. Why is this?

I have created a compound path in illustrator and when I try to make a clipping mask, rather than revealing the image behind the path, the shape is filled with solid white. I am able to successfully make the mask using one shape or the other, but once I create the compound path, I just get this white fill.
I am in CS5 on Mac OS X (Snow Leopard). See screenshots below.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI try to anti-alias or matte the edges of a shape in order to make a transparent gif/png of it without having pixelated 'hard edges'. The current situation is that I have a selection of some shape in GIMP. Below the layer with the shape in it, I stroke the selection of my shape with a lighter colour by using a fuzzy paintbrush. This gives me some sort of anti-alising effect, but it isn't any close to the matte option in the 'export for web' dialog of Photoshop. Because I really do like GIMP, I am curious if there is a better way to get anti-aliased shapes using Gimp?

I have shape with a 'single tile' bitmap fill and the bitmap is smaller than the shape (which is what I need) but I want the fill of the shape not taken up with the bitmap to be white, however this is defaulting to transparent. I've gotten around this by cloning the shape, setting the fill to flat white and placing it behind the original (bitmap filled) shape. This works fine but is there a way to do this without resorting to this second copy?

I'm using CS3 on a Mac.
I outlined my text and subtracted it (and the tree image) from the black background. When I did this both appear thinner - particularly the tree.
If I then take the original version and the new subtracted version, and view them both overlayed one on top of the other in wire frame (outline) mode, there is no difference in the actual lines.
It seems to be a problem with the way illustrator previews the images. This wouldn't concern me, but when I export the file as a jpeg, the lines also appear thinner in the export.
I can create a manual solution by offsetting the path before subtracting, but this isn't ideal.
What does it mean when Illustrator v.15.1.0 ceases to contract a shape using offset paths and will only expand a shape? Seems like only yesterday I could render both ways. Wait a minute, it was only yesterday! Why would it suddenly stop funtioning?

In the image below, I simply want to delete the bottom right corner of the blue box so that the orange background is visible along the right edge of the curved shape and the blue box is visible along the left edge of the curved shape. View 12 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to cover a section of letters that have been outlines with a red box over a serif for a homework project. HOWEVER. Everytime I do this, it looks like I have it all lined up and when I make another point, the points move on its own to be off and not cover the object Say I complete the box and try to cover the object by just dragging and dropping, it will avoid that area and move it off to one side or the other but never align with the actual object I'm trying to cover for a smooth and even coverage. Trying to get the red box to cover the black serif and it won't do it.

In previous version, it never did this. This is for CS6. Any know fix for this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedAs you now can make EPS documents from photoshop and keep the vector shapes as vectors, it would be nice to be able to use old logos you have that are in eps or illustrator format and make shapes out of them so they also can be included in a Photoshop EPS.
But I can not see that there are any options to add eps ot illustrator files to the Shapes, and once a eps is opened in Photoshop it is rasterized.

I want the stroke above the elipse to be an eyelid for a cartoon. I want the part of the elipse to disappear that meets the stroke "eyelid" (see the left image).
I want the eyeball elipse to disappear as it goes into the eyelid stroke.
I just purchased a new iMac and have been using Illustrator (CS5) for some graphic design work. However, it's driving me CRAZY because the type and shape cursors are a super small and a light gray in color. It's very difficult for me to track the cursor with my eyes when it is small and gray on a gray and white artboard. Is there some way to make the cursors more easily visible? As far as I can tell, this is only an issue in Illustrator.

In PS i can Magic wand selection shape from one layer, drop to sub layer and copy that selected shape from that sub layer. How do I do this in illistrator, and moreover, from multiple layer at the same time.

I am trying to make a shape made from the blob tool made into hafltones. I do not want it as a gradient, just equal sized halftones throughout the shape. Is this possible?
When I do it using Effects/pixilate/color haltone it makes multiple colored halftones, whereas I just want one color. And when I change the channel's it comes up with similar results.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI dont know if the t-shirt company will want the black layer and the white layer on seperate areas, so i will give them three files per side (black and white, Black, White). Unfortunately when i split the colors in raster graphics and re trace them it doesnt do it the same! and i fear that their will be blank ugly spaces on the shirt. so is their a way to take all of the white lines and put them by themselves on another document... and do the same with the black?
Also in the all colors toghether sample i have changed white to blue, so that it doesnt blend in with the background... Is their an easy way to make the background transparent, and then change blue to white?
When I select my shape (created with the pentool), I choose no color as the fill and it makes it black.
