Dec 20, 2012When I select my shape (created with the pentool), I choose no color as the fill and it makes it black.

View 4 RepliesI thought that when you had the magic wand selected and you clicked on a fill, it selected all items that were that color, right? I thought I've been doing that for several years now. However, now, clicking the fill does nothing. Clicking the stroke selects things, but clicking the fill doesn't.
Either something got changed in my settings with the latest update, or something is broken in the update.
Using a Mac, running CC, latest update as of this posting.
i had imported a few hundred Illustrator paths to After Effects, then used "Create shapes from vector layer" to make them editable Shape layer paths to then run scripts that equalize the number of vertices on each path.
After this i thought via online tutorial that Edit > Edit Original.. would replace or update the originating paths to same number of vertices back in Illustrator, but this was proven wrong.
1) how import AE Shape paths and their Fills to Illustrator?
Why when I use green for foreground color and go to Fill and use the option of Foreground color the selection is filled with black? Also why when I open a file with a green square, it also turns to black? And since I am asking questions, how do I get back the ability to get content and search within photoshop, instead of always being directed to Adobe online? I am using CS5.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I open a picture in photoshop, any picture, I see the picture and all around it is a background color. It has nothing to do with the picture or any work being done on the picture. This has to do with the color that comes up on the screen regardless of the picture. It was black and I hit something and it is now blue. I want this to go back to black.
I tryed clicking on the link below, selecting black for a background color and clicking and nothing changes.
is there a way to color an object black without selecting it. on one layer?
i also have a gradient shape on top of a black shape and im supposed to press delete to get a kind of line shape underneath but i cant do it.
I have a solid color and apply the water color effect, though it doesn't do anything to the solid fill? I am applying the effect that is under Photoshop filters. Is this only meant to be applied to bitmaps?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have two layers on the bottom I have text, and on the top I have a shape.
How do I make the shape transparent so the shape may be filled with the background color?
In Photoshop, I realized that the shape tool is divided into three prefered styles - Shape, Path, and Pixels. In Shape, I have the option to to change the stroke and fill but not alias it. In Pixels, I have the option to alias it but not change both the fill and stroke. If I create a shape as one style, I cannot convert it to another. Is there a way to change both the fill and stroke of an aliased shape?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSee the attached mini screen grab. I've built a North America map showing Alaska and filled it with a gradient and saved it. When I re-open the file, Alaska has turned black as shown. When I rebuild the color, it re-opens as black again.
I've tried numerous workarounds, including pasting into a new document, making a new layer, and even deleting the rest of North America to eliminate the possibility of file size or memory limits. None of these workarounds has worked.
I make a shape filled with an 80% black from the CMYK palette (0,0,0,80), and another shape filled with 80% black from the grayscale palette. Then i convert the color space from CMYK to RGB and the two grays that were identical in CMYK appear very different in RGB. Why is this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I create a shape with a Pantone Color and then decrease the opacity in the color swatch palette, then go to my swatches palette and select "Select All Unused Colors" it highlights the pantone color being used in the file. In previous version, it never did this. This is for CS6. Any know fix for this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSomehow I've turned off the color selection so that I don't have a color when I select a part of a drawing on a layer. The drawing area stays black whether I have selected it or not and I don't know how to turn back on the color.
how I can turn on the color again so that when I select a line it changes from black to red or magenta or whatever?
I have been having this issue with autocad generated color PDF printouts having "fuzzy" fonts and some other black objects. What I have traced it to is that the PDF created by the stock Autodesk PDF ePlot renderer/driver is printing those fonts (and other things like lines with global width) in rich or enhanced black. 75,68,67,90 CMYK to be precise. When this is done without some sort of 100% K border (and sometimes even with) it leads to a blurring of the edges because the registration is never perfect. There is often even some ghosting due to the sheer amount of toner.
Some printer drivers have a way of forcing or selecting this "Enhanced Black" but I see nothing in the settings. I wonder if this can be externalized. It seems that at least fonts should almost never have this turned on.
What i do is use the direct selection tool and click an anchor and then click the eyedropper tool on that anchor point What is happening is the the outline color is being selected. So i found out Illustrator CS6 you have to hold shift while clicking the eyedropper. I tried that and still can't get the color of the underneath layer, the fill color stays white? Here is pic:
As you can see in the navigator window, the shade of red is that of the outline and not the apple underneath the outline. I tried shift+eyedropper and white is the only color that get's sampled.
I'm having a problem with Adobe Illustrator CC 17.1.0 with colors, types and groups.
If I select a text or a group and try to change its color, the Fill color stays correct a the panel, but the text or the group maintains the old color, like the screenshot below.
The only way to change color its is selecting all text characters or all group's elements.
I use Photoshop 7.0, and yesterday I started having an issue with Color Fills.
(You may actually have to Say I have a black-and white lineart on the background layer, such as this.
I double-click on the background layer to make it edit-able.
I click on the Color Fill button, choose solid color, then pick any color (say we use bright red). I go back to the lineart, move the Color Fill layer to underneath the lineart layer, and fill the Color Fill with black. Normally, it would just create white, however for me it has pink/light red. The same thing also happens for patterns and gradients; it leaves a very faded version of the color on the picture.
I didn't change any options or settings, however my little brother was playing around with Photoshop, and he may have changed something. Can anyone tell me how to get it so that there is no pink or faded color there?
When I put a vector shape over a background color the color of the vector changes, how can I ensure I keep the original colors?
At the moment my background is grey and when I put a lime green vector in front it's turns it to a dark green.
I'm using CS6
I'm using Ai CS6 64bit now on windows 8, and I have a problem with the black and grey colors, because they look like brown variations...In the past I hadn't similar problems, but recently I changed my notebook to an Asus KB56, from Acer.
I attached the 1st picture to show exactly what is the problem, the colors should to be all black, but they are brown...The second picture shows them in paint, which works perfect...
I have a large group of objects, all one color. I need to make a subtle change to the color. Is there a easy way to change all the colors in a group of object to another specific color? Some objects only have an outline, and some only have a fill without having to go through each object one by one in the object manager?
View 10 Replies View RelatedHaving trouble getting illustrator to assume my fill color when setting text. Each time I set type it reverts back to black regardless of the fill color I've set up. I can change it back once it's set but I'd like to illiminate the extra step. I've tried synching to my old settings but thats not working. It there a way to get it to behave like my older version where it just uses the fill color for text without reverting to black?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIm having a really bad day working on CC Illustrator, i copied a .ai file and a .eps file from my old computer to continue working on a logo. And everythings works well, without the colors.
I want it BLACK, 000000, but the Illustrator turns it into differnt blacks and brown! Never seen this before.
When I copy my work back on the old computer and open it on CS3 it shows that it is black, but when i copy it on my CC Photoshop it shows up brown?
I tired making a new file, copying things over, making a new project writing randoms things but its all brown, and i tired to change both CMYK and RBG, and ofcourse the color! It worked fine if I wanted blue or red, but not BLACK.
The only color the eye dropper tool selects is black. (CS6)

I know that flare works better with a black background, but for any reason it looks grey and it's hard to create effects.
I have been watching MANY videos, but just cannot seem to figure out how to color the B&W photo I imported into Illustrator CC. Do I need to do something in Photoshop first? I was able to trace the image but from there I am lost.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I make my text red (standard CMYK red) on a black background, it looks rasterized. (See image below)
I tried using different standard fonts, but result is the same. Aslo when I export it for high quality printing, the resulting pdf document also show the red text somewhat rasterized. (Does not appear smooth red).
My black color slider is stuck as a multicolored gradient. The file was originally in RGB mode and I've seen it happen before but usually if I change my color mode to CMYK the black slider bar goes back to normal.
Any way to fix this with illustrator open? It doesn't go away unless I close and re-open illustrator. I don't think that it affects my output colors...
