View 1 RepliesCannot find the transform palette or equiv. in CS6. Need fields for x & y coordinates, etc., so I can transform precisely.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIs it possible import Dxf/Dwg with desired units? Actually I need to do it silent, not with this dialog.I need setup scaling factor and show in document. In this code I can hide dialog, but can't setup. And also Ruller Units do not can scale imported document, it always scaled to Fit...

How can I set the units of my artboard to cm instead of millimeters when I want to resize it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just reloaded CS5 onto my laptop with Windows 7 and I can't change the unit preference to inches. Every time I try to select it, it immediately reverts back to points.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to open a document and Force illustrator to open it using CM or MM as the Default Units.
i.e If a client sends me an .ai file and they use Pt or Px, How can i get the document to open by default with Centimeters, I've changed it in Adobe preferences but it only applies to new documents.
I am trying to resize the artboard so it will be an exact size in pixels. However whenever I use the artboard tool, the contextual toolbar will show me the size in mm. I went to Preference > Units > General and while it appears to be set to show pixels, it doesn't seem to affect the artboard measurements.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen an object for instance is selected with the Selection Tool, is there a keyboard shortcut to get to the Transform X and Y Value etc.? Now I need to click in the X or Y Value boxes, which means grabbing the mouse and so... Can this be done faster?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIt seems that in CC the Free Transform tool does not snap to grid when resizing (for example) a rectangle. If I have "Snap to Grid" turned on, it only is taking effect with new objects getting drawn. Am I understanding this correctly? If I draw a rectangle, and want to reshape/resize it to fit the grid, how do I do this? It's a bit embarrassing asking this question, but CC seems to have changed some things from CS6.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a .pdf output from a program I use at work. The .pdf can be opened in illustrator (IL) and I have about a bezillion of objects which are mostly all paths (0.5 stroke and no fill of course).
Due to the large number of objects, IL crashes after a while.
Is there a way to transform/join the paths from one row into one object? I tried rasterize, but the problem is that I can't change the color of the according row afterwards - and I need to be able to change the color later.
Stuff I tried that didn't work"
- Object>Paths>clean up
- Object>Paths>simplify
I fail to see the usefulness of this panel. Aren't all these features accessible through modifier keys? How do I get rid of it for good?I'm guessing it's for access on touchscreen-only systems.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've came across a thought, how to transform a grouped object. like in Photoshop when we use the distort transformation, we can manipulate the corner points for a particular occasion. Here in the example I have 3 rectangles one smaller than another, and I I have grouped them. Now I'm trying to figure out a way how to adjust the shape into the grey one. I have used the free distort tool, but does no justice. because there is no preview so I cannot see how it adjusts. I'm only after the equivalent of the distortion like in Photoshop.

View 2 Replies View RelatedPC, Windows 7, AI CC..I have a document that displays units in points, and when I change the unit type to inches in the preferences panel and the Document Setup panel, the change won't apply.
I've tried saving as a new document, restarting, etc. I even tried setting the units to other units... doesn't matter what I have the units set to in preferences, it's always displaying points.
I'm trying to make a 3D cross section of a building in Illustrator CS5 and I've gotten a lot done already, but now I cannot transform the objects in 3D perspective space.
See Attachment: I can draw and position them in perspective, but when I select the "Perspective Selection Tool (red)" and select an object, the handles in the corners / sides are not visible anymore (blue).
I just started using illustrator CC and realize that when I clcik Transform tool button, the program crashes. It shappens even if no document is open.
I am using a mac with OS 10.7.
I have been working with creating the effect of indented text. I have created a new fill which I placed behind my original one.I then went to "Effec" Transform & Distort" " Transform". I was going to add a vertical move of 1px - BUT it doesn't move vertically? My fill is moving downwards 1px?!
I thought I was going crazy until I zoomed in and applied the same setting again....sure enough it is moving down for veritical and vertically for down.
I have a horizontal bar graphic and I want to make it have the same shape than a circular graphic that I have as background.
What I do first is to rotate the graph (after converting it in an image) to the right angle, depending on where it has to be positioned. After that, I use the Effect->Deform->Arc to make it fit in the same shape as the circular graph. But when I do those processes (in any order) I get a distorted image, with lines not describing concentric lines (not as radius, I mean).
I got the perfect shape working on a MAC, but now I am working on PC. How can I achieve the same?
I attach an image descrbing what I am telling.
Working with two text characters - created separately. When I transform one they both transform. I want them to behave separately.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just installed Illustrator CS6 trial. I have been on Illustrator 9 for years. I am used to clicking on the type tool, then clicking on the artboard and typing a single word. I am not using actual text boxes. When I do that in CS6 I cannot get a bounding box to show me how to resize it using the transform tool (arrow tool). I've gone to view>show bounding box, but it does not do anything.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'd like to know how to ignore the stroke weight of a shape in the transform box. In other terms, to only consider the surface.
For example, I trace a square with no stroke, and measures 100mm. When I add a 1pt stroke on it, I would still like the transform box to display 100mm, and not 100,353 mm.
I'm working on Illustrator CC (64 bit), Windows 7.
I recently started working with Illustrator CS6, and noticed that the Transform option panel in the top tool bar is listed as a word, which i need to click on in order to access the x/y coordinates and the object height and width values. I was wondering if there was a way to set this toolbar so that these options are locked in the tool bar so that i don't need to always click on the word to expand it out. I have included a screenshot of the tool bar as it exists. Also the align options are set up in this way as well.
I also included a screenshot of the same tools in Indesign to give an idea of what i'm looking for, where everything is expanded out.
Free Transform is not working on the image that I Place in the document? It works with objects that I created in the drawing itself.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a pattern that I have created in previous itterations of Illustrator. In CC when I create a triangle (either via Star, Poly, or Pen tool) and then try to rotate it via Transform Each > Transform again, the rotation point moves according to what the bounding box would be if I reset it, rather than staying in one (original) spot relative to the actual bounding box and triangle. I cannot find any settings that would be affecting the rotate point in this way. I am pretty confident that I am using the same procedure now that I did in older versions of Illustrator. Perhaps I am using the wrong procedure.
Naturally, if you are rotating something around its center you should expect that it would end up create a circular pattern. It is more of a square with concave sides. The red is a perfect circle that I grouped to the triangle to demonstrate the rotate points movement. It is located in the exact center according to the align tools.
I am trying to "skew" an object. I use the Free Transform tool, then click and hold on a handle, then hold down Control, and drag the handle where I want it. This works fine. BUT the second I let go of either the mouse or the Control button, it pops back to its original location/shape. How do I make the transformation "stick"? I'm sure I'm being really dense and missing something very simple.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if it's possible to do what Effect > Distort & Transform > Transform does from JS. I had a look at the documentation and found nothing in that direction.
The closest thing I found was PageItem.applyEffect(effectXML) looking at the Object Model Viewer in Extend Script Toolkit, but couldn't find documentation for it and I suspect it might have something to do with SVG filters perhaps ?
In conclusion: Is it possible to apply a Transform effect from JS (and if so, how )?How can applyEffect be used ?
