Illustrator :: Ignore Stroke Weight Of Shape In Transform Box
Sep 5, 2013I'd like to know how to ignore the stroke weight of a shape in the transform box. In other terms, to only consider the surface.
For example, I trace a square with no stroke, and measures 100mm. When I add a 1pt stroke on it, I would still like the transform box to display 100mm, and not 100,353 mm.
I'm working on Illustrator CC (64 bit), Windows 7.

This was one of my favorite tricks but it looks the ability has been removed in CS6! So now if I want to make a sequence of shapes how can I do it?

Oct 26, 2013When I enter a value, such as 2.2, as the height in the Transform box, AI automatically changes the value (to 2.1944, in this case). Is there any way to fix this?
(I have deslected "Align New Objects to Pixel Grid" and have deleted the AIPrefs file. I am working with AI CC and Windows 7.)
Photoshop :: How To Transform A Shape
Jun 23, 2012I draw a rectangle and I want to change its shape. How do I go about doing that? I have selected the Direct Selection tool and clicked on the outlines of the shape (the path?) and this brings up 4 squares on each corner (handles?) and when I click and drag I am able to pull the line/path out, up, down etc.However, I would like to be able to move the lines in a curve. I am looking to bring up the line with the round handles ~ like when the Pen tool is used.
I did it once by mistake but now I can't figure out what I did. I thought maybe that I had used Ctrl + click on the shape or path but that doesn't seem to be it.I also tried going to the Pen tool to manipulate the path the way I want but that just either added or took away a handle ~ which is okay and great and all but not for what I am trying to accomplish.

Oct 25, 2013I have noticed a few subtle UI changes in PShop CC -some of which seem like bugs.When I apply "transform" to a newly created Elipse path (which has been pre-specified as a path), I get this prompt:
"This operation will turn a live shape into a regular path. Continue?"
But the elipse I have created is NOT a shape. The Path option has already been selected. Yes, this is a very minor quibble, but as a former beta (and alpha) tester, I tend to be compulsively thorough! OTOH, perhaps there is a user error on my part. I did double check that new paths created with elipse tool are spec'd as "paths".
Photoshop :: How To Transform A Mask On Shape Layer (CS6)
Aug 8, 2012I've unlinked the layer mask from the shape layer, and made sure the layer mask thumbnail is selected in the layers palette.
If I do a cmd-t on OSX to transform, Photoshop (CS6) selects the shape layer path to transform instead of the mask layer, even though the mask thumbnail is still selected and even if I have a marque selection.Is this a bug?

Mar 15, 2013When accessing the 3D Transform and selecting the shape required and OK. The shape does not download to a blank page. Also the anchor points, pan camera tool and trackball tool are all greyed out. All these features worked a few months ago.

Free Transform determines the size of the shape including the points handles. Tested the same in Photoshop CS6 but it works normal there. Check the screenshot please:

Illustrator :: Front Shape Appears Thinner After Subtracting From Back Shape
Jan 13, 2014I'm using CS3 on a Mac.
I outlined my text and subtracted it (and the tree image) from the black background. When I did this both appear thinner - particularly the tree.
If I then take the original version and the new subtracted version, and view them both overlayed one on top of the other in wire frame (outline) mode, there is no difference in the actual lines.
It seems to be a problem with the way illustrator previews the images. This wouldn't concern me, but when I export the file as a jpeg, the lines also appear thinner in the export.
I can create a manual solution by offsetting the path before subtracting, but this isn't ideal.

In the image below, I simply want to delete the bottom right corner of the blue box so that the orange background is visible along the right edge of the curved shape and the blue box is visible along the left edge of the curved shape. But I cannot figure out how to do this. I've tried all the Pathfinder choices and none work. How can I do this? CS6, Windows 7.

Apr 20, 2013I'm trying to cover a section of letters that have been outlines with a red box over a serif for a homework project. HOWEVER. Everytime I do this, it looks like I have it all lined up and when I make another point, the points move on its own to be off and not cover the object Say I complete the box and try to cover the object by just dragging and dropping, it will avoid that area and move it off to one side or the other but never align with the actual object I'm trying to cover for a smooth and even coverage. Trying to get the red box to cover the black serif and it won't do it.

I've looked up on tutorials and such and from what I've seen, the layers order containing each of the objects decides how the occlusion should occur, however I've tried doing that but with no luck, am I missing something here?

Sep 1, 2013It seems that in CC the Free Transform tool does not snap to grid when resizing (for example) a rectangle. If I have "Snap to Grid" turned on, it only is taking effect with new objects getting drawn. Am I understanding this correctly? If I draw a rectangle, and want to reshape/resize it to fit the grid, how do I do this? It's a bit embarrassing asking this question, but CC seems to have changed some things from CS6.

Oct 14, 2013I have a .pdf output from a program I use at work. The .pdf can be opened in illustrator (IL) and I have about a bezillion of objects which are mostly all paths (0.5 stroke and no fill of course).
Due to the large number of objects, IL crashes after a while.
Is there a way to transform/join the paths from one row into one object? I tried rasterize, but the problem is that I can't change the color of the according row afterwards - and I need to be able to change the color later.

- Object>Paths>simplify

Here in the example I have 3 rectangles one smaller than another, and I I have grouped them. Now I'm trying to figure out a way how to adjust the shape into the grey one. Feb 18, 2014 I have been working with creating the effect of indented text. I have created a new fill which I placed behind my original one.I then went to "Effec" Transform & Distort" " Transform". I was going to add a vertical move of 1px - BUT it doesn't move vertically? My fill is moving downwards 1px?!
I thought I was going crazy until I zoomed in and applied the same setting again....sure enough it is moving down for veritical and vertically for down.
Illustrator :: How To Rotate And Transform Bar Graphs Without Distortion
Aug 28, 2013I have a horizontal bar graphic and I want to make it have the same shape than a circular graphic that I have as background.
What I do first is to rotate the graph (after converting it in an image) to the right angle, depending on where it has to be positioned. After that, I use the Effect->Deform->Arc to make it fit in the same shape as the circular graph. But when I do those processes (in any order) I get a distorted image, with lines not describing concentric lines (not as radius, I mean).
I got the perfect shape working on a MAC, but now I am working on PC. How can I achieve the same?
