I am running CC on an iMac with Mavericks. It is a brand new system. My spacebar hand tool seems to be disabled. I have tried opening Illy while holding Shift/Option/Command.I have disabled the Command/Spacebar shortcut in Spotlight..The tool doesn't work in Photoshop either. I have looked high and low and have made no progress.

That is one feature of Illustrator that I do like when I use that program.
I can use the pen tool, hold down spacebar to move the image then when I release the spacebar it automatically goes back to the pen tool or whatever tool you are using.
I've used CorelDraw since version 3 and admit that I can't figure out how to do this in Corel.
When using typetool in AI CS6, when using spacebar, texttool stops.
When using spacebar textool immidiatly stops.
How to fix this?
While using the pen tool, moving the current anchor point by hold down the spacebar, is a great time-saver and I use it frequently. But I find it a little frustrating that, when closing a path, the "spacebar" feature does not work. Instead, the apposing direction point goes whacko. Is there an alternate keyboard shortcut to overcome it? Even though I "know" it won't work, I seem unable to resist holding the spacebar to fine-tune the last anchor point.

When I try, it makes the ding noise that goes with being unable. I can still move the objects with the arrow keys. I am not that experienced with CS6 having only recently up graded.

When I try to save as PDF the tick box for "Use Artboards" is disabled, so when I save it saves the whole canvas instead of only what is on the artboard. When I try to export I can tick the tick box but the document still saves the whole canvas with everything that is "hanging off" the artboard too. The artboard is the exact size of the document.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a pre-existing graphic uses a stroke with variable with profile (I think) or a special brush to make it look like it's hand drawn. I'd like to apply the same effect to a few new illustrations to keep the style consistent. For whatever reason when I ungroup the graphic and select one of the paths, the stroke weight and variable width profile remain disabled (see pasted toolbar graphic below). The brush still says "Basic" despite the fact that visually it is certainly not the basic brush.

Toolbar (I realize that it says Group instead of Path, but even if I ungroup again and select the path the same options are disabled).
I have done this a thousand times, and not had a problem. Basically I tried putting a gradient into text, and nothing happened. I tried it on a shape, and it worked fine. So I went to the appearances panel and added a new fill for the text. It worked, but even with the stroke disabled, there is still a weird glitchy outline around the text?
I tried exporting the file as PDF to check if this is just showing up in program...but it shows up in the outputted PDF too!
I've got a bit of trouble with Illustrator that I assume has a really simple answer but I can't seem to find the preference for it. My objects seem to be snapping to place but, as far as I can tell, I have all those settings disabled.
Things to note:
View > Snap to Grid > Disabled
View > Snap to point > Disabled
Preferences > Selection and Anchor display > Snap to point > Disabled
I have a simple shape that doesn't work with the width tool. I have other shapes in my doc that work fine, even ones with gradient fills. What is wrong with this one shape?

In Illustrator CS6 demo, is the blob brush's pressure sensitivity disabled? Pressure isn't selectable and I don't know why.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIn CS4, holding the spacebar down when using another tool for panning does not work, in photoshop or anything else. Works fine when pan tool itself is selected. Very irritating behavior. I've used photoshop since v6, so I'm pretty use to the way it works. Same in Illustrator, InDesign, InCopy, and Acrobat.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using PS5 version 12.1 and I'm arranging a lot of layers so I do a lot of zooming and then hitting the space bar to move around. But 90% of the time I get kicked into birds eye view. And I know for a fact that the hotkey for Birds Eye View is 'H' This extra step of getting kicked into birds eye view whenever I want to pan is tossing a monkey wrench into my workflow.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've always used the spacebar as Enter, it speeds up the way i work.I've just load 2013 and i'm using the Drafting & Annotation workspace, now when i use the spacebar it jumps to another command, i have to use the enter key to get it to do what i want.For example.
Type H, (spacebar), S, (Spacebar).
This should be - Hatch > Select,
instead i get 'Hatch' then it cancels the hatch commands and jumps to 'Stretch'
The spacebar is no longer inserting a space between characters.
I tried switching from my wireless iMac keyboard to my wired Apple keyboard; replaced preference files; booted from several other partitions (that share the same Photoshop app); checked the character palette for kerning and tracking; and tried different fonts.
It may be that I have to trash the preference files and completely reset them... but I sure hope not.I've tried two backup preference files .
I just downloaded the CC trial for photoshop, then started using the elliptical marquee tool but when I try to use the spacebar to move the selection the selection will only move a few pixels then wont move at all. Also i have the screen flickering problem.

For years I've been able to hit the spacebar while dimensioning to cancel the appearance of a dimension. For some strange reason, this no longer works and when I hit the spacebar, the dimension process won't continue unless I hit enter and of course it then shows the dimension I didn't want to appear. I can over ride a dimension on the fly, but in this case I just don't want the dimension to appear. I'm thinking a Dimvar got changed.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using the type tool in Photoshop CS6 (windows XP pro) and I am running into this weird issue. I have never seen anything like it before. It isn't my keyboard or computer, it only happens in Photoshop. When I am typing and I mess up and use backspace to delete a character, the next character I type in gets doubled. Random letters will pop up as well - such as when I type "S", the letter "U" shows up... when I press the spacebar, it adds an extra letter instead of a space (the following letter or previous letter used). The cursor gets placed before that second character too. I can delete it using backspace or delete but then if I press spacebar to continue, it shows up again and again. I can't get rid of the extra characters!
I've tried activating and de-activating various key locks on my keyboard to no avail. Is there some button I pushed or weird formatting I somehow accidently implemented?
Running the CS6 trial on a Windows 7 Laptop (x64). I was in Photoshop (64), and noticed that when I held down the spacebar to pan the open image, the hand icon would show but the tool will not work. No matter how many times I click and drag, the image stays still. If I select the MANUALLY select the hand tool it works, but the spacebar shortcut key is non-functional. This issue persists across both the 32 & 64 bit versions of Photoshop.
View 23 Replies View RelatedSince Inventor 2010, the spacebar has the functionality of repeating the last command. We have an add-in that requires typing a short phrase. (You can see where this is headed)
Whenever you use the spacebar to seperate the words in the phrase, a new addin form opens in front of the old one.
This add-in is employing the WordWrapper code that Brian submitted some time ago to clear up a similiar issue when you used the Enter key, but the spacebar problem persists
Is there a way to disable this funtion? Or work around it?
