Illustrator :: How To Flip A Drawing Vertically
Jan 27, 2014I want to flip a drawing vertically. I want what is on the bottom on the top without rotating the left and right.
View 5 RepliesI want to flip a drawing vertically. I want what is on the bottom on the top without rotating the left and right.
View 5 RepliesI have an object, a non-symmetrical anchor clip, that has four configurations: Left Top, Right Top, Left Bottom, Right Bottom. In the project, I can rotate the clip from the project's Top view, but when I try to rotate it from the Front, I get the message "Can't rotate element into this position." In the family (see attached), I have a Flip Control in place to flip the element right-to-left, but I can't seem to add a top-to-bottom control in an elevation view. To get the project out the door, I created a top and bottom version of the same object, but this seems redundant and makes my scheduling more difficult.
How I can either add another flip control to the family to easily flip the clip (preferably) or rotate the object in the project so that it is upside down?
I'm just getting to grips with paths.
I have created a path, which I want to copy, then flip the copy in the vertical axis, then join it onto the original, yeilding a path that is vertically symmetrical.
I can create the path OK, and I've figured out how to copy it.
BUT .... when I go to Edit > Transform Path ... the flip vertical and flip horizontal options are greyed out.
What am I doing wrong?
I'm using CS4 Extended v11.0.
Have a drawing I would like to drag from one window to the other while aligning it from left to right using the Tile Vertical command. After selecting the whole drawing and seeing the drawing in blue grips. When ever I try to drag the drawing from one window to the other I just a couple of lines at the most in the new window. Asking if there is another way to get around this without dragging.
View 3 Replies View RelatedPlease take a look at the attached dynamic block.
I have two flips in there, one verticle, one horizontal. For some reason, whenever I tell it to flip, and then select everything in the block, it doesn't flip the other flip's arrow.
Then, when I created the second arrow, and went back to include the first flip in the second flip's Action Selection Set, it doesn't pick it up. Doesn't matter if I do "modify selection set" or "new selection set"... doesn't matter if I select everything within (blue box) or everything that touches (green box).
Yet, when I highlight the icon box, it shows everything is selected.
Can flips not flip other flips?
Additionally, I want the rotation parameter to flip on the horizontal flip (so it stays outside the block), but I can't get that into the selection either.
What am I missing with these selection parameters?
I feel like I am going crazy, but for the life of me I cant figure it out. I am on a mac using version 16.0.0 and the "f" key works when I am not using the tool, for its other function, but as soon as I start to draw it wont work. I tried deleting the prefrences and everything.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI own a printing business, and just recently purchased Creative Cloud, and started using Illustrator for my custom designs. I need to figure out how to flip or mirror the image, so it's being viewed backwards. This is done for transfer paper printing, so that the letters print right side up, instead of backwards and unreadable. There must be a mirroring function right?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been using Inkscape for a long time and decided to switch to Illustrator CS6 now for better compatibility with PDF standards. While most things are very similar in both programs, one thing enormously bugs me in Illustrator each time I use it. In Inkscape, you could hold down your middle mouse button (mouse wheel) and move the mouse to simultaneously navigate on both the horizontal and vertical viewport axis. In other words, holding down the middle mouse button and moving the mouse would pan the view in both directions. Is there any chance (program setting, plug-in) of getting a similar behavior in Illustrator (doesn't have middle mouse button, just some easy way to navigate in all directions)? I know that you can rotate the mouse wheel to pan the view vertically and holding CTRL while using the mouse wheel pans it horizontally, but that's just cumbersome and totally counter-intuitive.

When you centrally allign text horizontally and vertically in a text box, the text sits slightly high of the centre. Is there any way of setting an action or setting to deal with this rather than adjusting by eye every time?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI want to take two 3D views from (autodesk) Revit Architecture 2012 to Illustrator CS5 and then make use of the live paint bucket tool*. I've printed the two 3D views into pdf files and imported them in Illustrator**. When I select the whole image in Illustrator and then click with the Live Paint Bucket tool on the drawing to modify the drawing so I can color the surfaces, Illustrator gives me the following error:
"The selection contains objects that cannot be converted. Live Paint groups can only contain paths and compound paths. Clipping paths are not allowed."
Exporting images (jpg, png and tiff) from Revit results in the same error. Is there a way to easily convert my vector drawing into a non-clipping paths drawing? Also I'm not sure if the problem should be found in either Revit or Illustrator. What's also strange is that I'm using a tutorial provided by my university, in which there are no issues with clipping paths or anything.
* This in order to make an conceptual image of my building, which I've modeled in Revit. I want to add basic colors to surfaces in Illustrator and then take the image to Photoshop to add shadow, materials, sky etc.
** They only consist of lines, using the 'hidden line' visual style in my views in Revit, in case you know a bit of Revit.
I sometimes use the "Video Pan and Zoom" feature in VS ProX4 to pan horizontally. I also want to be able to pan vertically. Is there a way of doing this in VSPro 4? If not, do the more recent Pro 5 and 6 programs allow this?

can't figure out what's wrong with the code. got all the codes for cloning and create the new 3dpolyline with 2 vertices ok. but just won't join.also tried to going through all the vertices of the new polyline and join. but can't figure out how to read vertices on 3dpolyline.everytime programming something always get stuck at the end. pretty used to it already.

I have tried tooth and nail to use the Path tool and every tutorial explains it so simply but nothing will work. I cannot text to path.It should be so simple but it is not. I make a vertical path then select the text tool and type my text. Then hit text to path and nothing happens.Rotation doesn't give me the same quality in the final result so that's out.

Shooting 'wider' vertically when doing panoramas and using the stitching in Photoshop CS5?
i.e. : if I shoot frames in panoramic and then do a slight tilt up pass and a slight tilt down pass, when I auto align the layers in stitching, will Photoshop have any clue as to what I'm trying to do? Does it is good for the software if I make a much larger canvas first to allow for that space?
any gms or script to swap files hor as well as vertically.
For instance, left side circle and right side rectangle if you swap horizontally then left side comes rectangle and right side comes circle.
Is it possible to move a 2D sketch vertically? I have a sketch on the XY plane, but I'd like to move it up to another entity.
I can see how to do it in 2D (in the XY) plane, but not along the X axis.
is there a way to create a few profiles say at 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0m vertically above the profile of the ground? without creating the surface again and change the elevation 4 times and making 4 data reference. using those lines for design guides for minimum fill requirements when doing FG profiles. before i just copy, then explode then move the original profile as a polyline. i actually have to explode the polyline after because it's laggy to zoom in the profile for some reason. once lines it's ok. but then again it's not dynamic. i changed my alignment and then those line stayed then have to do it all over again. this maybe a good feature to have next version.

I need to create mtext with various size fonts and have them center vertically along a line. I can do this with two mtext objects, but would rather have them all in one.
