Illustrator :: How To Convert Vector Drawing Into Non-clipping Paths Drawing

I want to take two 3D views from (autodesk) Revit Architecture 2012 to Illustrator CS5 and then make use of the live paint bucket tool*. I've printed the two 3D views into pdf files and imported them in Illustrator**. When I select the whole image in Illustrator and then click with the Live Paint Bucket tool on the drawing to modify the drawing so I can color the surfaces, Illustrator gives me the following error:
"The selection contains objects that cannot be converted. Live Paint groups can only contain paths and compound paths. Clipping paths are not allowed."
Exporting images (jpg, png and tiff) from Revit results in the same error. Is there a way to easily convert my vector drawing into a non-clipping paths drawing? Also I'm not sure if the problem should be found in either Revit or Illustrator. What's also strange is that I'm using a tutorial provided by my university, in which there are no issues with clipping paths or anything.
* This in order to make an conceptual image of my building, which I've modeled in Revit. I want to add basic colors to surfaces in Illustrator and then take the image to Photoshop to add shadow, materials, sky etc.
** They only consist of lines, using the 'hidden line' visual style in my views in Revit, in case you know a bit of Revit.

Can you download a Google Docs Drawing file as a file.svg type And then import it to CorelDraw and convert it to a bunch of CorelDraw vector based lines that can be modified like any other CorelDraw line drawing?
BTW, this is a drawing of a character and is simply b&w lines & shapes on a white background.Line widths vary in the original and we want to be able to modify them even more using all the tools in CorelDraw.
I was able to open the .svg file with CorelDraw but when attempting to 'Edit' a line in the drawing I couldn't change the line width... so it isn't behaving like a CorelDraw vector drawing.

I accidentally inked some of my drawing onto the template layer and i can't seem to separate the paths from the complete drawing/template - any clues on how to shift these paths to the correct layer? It was a very detailed piece of tracing
I didn't think one could ink on a template layer!!!

When I open up previous versions of Illustrator files (i.e. CS5), why are all of my paths messed up. Every object is embedded in a Clipping Mask, paths are compounded and in most cases type on a path is expanded into multiple non-editable objects. This causes complete redesign.

I'd like to be able to make Clipping Paths out of (unexpanded) Compound Shapes. We can't do that already.I'd also like the Expand button to work like it did in CS4 again.

I use my script to embeding a placed graphic (MyImage.embed();). Then I always get a group with the correct paths and two clipping paths in a grouped grouped groupItem.
My question is: I want to delete the two clipping paths to get only the correct paths of the graphic.

I want to create an illustration with black outlines. Within these outlines I want to have some spots without outlines that stay clean within the lines. I have tried 3 options so far and have found a solution but it's far from ideal.
1. Create clipping masks for each element that has a spot on it and assign a stroke to the clipping path again after. However by creating the clipping path, the path styles dissapear. In this case I want to keep the pointed ends to the open path outlines (see top image).
2. Draw in the lines where the spots are and create a live paint object of the entire illustration. Then paint in the spots and other areas. However when I create this live paint object the lines again lose their applied styles and even 'end' at each intersection, creating nasty edges where the lines should go 'underneath' smoothly (see bottom image).
3. The option Im using now. Duplicate the path outlines and create clipping masks for the spots without strokes. Then put the stroked outline with the desired styles on top. The problem with this is that I have almost twice as much elements in my illustration now than I actually 'need'. And the styled outlines are not connected with the color underneath, so its very easy to accidentally move something around...
Any easier way to create this effect without all the hassle?

Trying to mask type with a vector pattern (place a vector pattern in a type clipping path), but nothing seems to be working. Never had issue before. Tried path in front, pattern in front, converting type path to compound path, converting vector to compound path. A couple of times it looked like it worked, but the pattern was invisible within the path. Illustrator CS6, on a Mac.

Im making a logo for a client and am having a nightmare of a time trying to properly use the clipping masks in illustrator CS5. I copied and pasted the logo I made behind itself with a different color just for a drop shadow-like effect. And now I'm trying to apply this diagonal line pattern I created over top the "shadow" I made to give it some texture.
Here's an example of what I'm going for, only imagine the line pattern on the text instead of banner.

I've created a hand drawn vector in Adobe Ideas and imported it into Illustrator CC. I've used a basic example below to test this method, but I want to be creating more complex hand drawn vectors in the near future. You can see the same line in the 3 images below. The third image shows a close up of the line where it's surrounded by 2 paths. Any way that I can merge the 2 paths in the third image into 1 path?

Is there a way to see or determine the start and end point of a drawing path? I'm exporting a CorelDraw file as a .plt file to a plotter/cutter and the manufacturer of the plotter/cutter saws the start point of the cut is determined in CorelDraw.
I want to be able regulate where the cutter starts cutting the material and where it stops at the end of the cut path.

I have a minor problem - besides of not knowing anything about Vector Drawing, I also mostly use Linux at home. I have a font which I want to make part of a logo, however this logo can only be installed on Windows.
So I tought of first converting the font into a graphical image (72dpi) and then import this in my Vector Drawing application (inkscape).
However will I have a good quality logo like this. That is will I be able to change the dpi of the logo and not loose quality?
Or the best solution is to always use the font directly in the Vector Drawing application?
Btw- I understand here most probably everyone use Adobe Illustrator and I be more then happy with answers aimed for this application.

When i try to draw vector mask or vector path, points, curves and direction lines don't visible.
Mask by itself are exist, working and seems allright, besides it isn't have visible curves and points.

The logo on a website needs to be scaled for printing purposes and it was originally created with photoshop without the original .psd layered file. What i have is the .png file which I am looking to convert to vector. I've read from this forum that I can convert to smart object but that is if I had the layered shapes. I have done an artwork and hit save, when I reopened my file, my illustration has converted to image, the amazing thing is: just very few part of my illstration has covert to image. I didn't resterize any of my illustration and I have done all my illustration in one file, the rest of my illustrations are fine but two illustration which are in the clipping mask are now images....

I have created vector art in Illustrator 5.5 that is exported as a PNG file at 96 dpi. When we open the PNG file in Photoshop, the image size is larger in Photoshop than it is in Illustrator. Width was 232.8 px on Illustrator document and 233 on Photoshop document. Height was 181.4 px on Illustrator document and 183 on the Photoshop document. If I export as a 72 dpi PNG file then the size does not change. How can I export the image at 96 dpi without changing the size of the image?
