I have a logo someone else created. When I bring it in to Illustrator (CC) parts of it are red. And inside the red there are white parts. I want the white parts gone... so that the background will show through (i.e., not the red). I have done this in the past by using "Minus Front" in the pathfinder. But it's not working. This is something I converted from a PNG.
View 3 RepliesThis is something I SHOULD be able to figure out, but for some reason, I'm having trouble. I'm designing a t-shirt. It can only have 4 colors. The "5th color" is actually the color of the shirt itself. So I have waves with a dolphin over them (covering them, not above them). The dolphin is outlined in one of the 4 colors, but I want the dolphin itself to be the color of the t-shirt (i.e., no color at all - or see-through, so it is actually the color of the shirt). How do I remove the color of the dolphin for the printer? If it was just the dolphin over a solid color, I could do that. But since it's over many colors (the waves)
PS I'm using CS4 on an iMac.
I have a jpeg with a white background and solid colored clipart image. I need to remove the colored part of the jpeg image with magic wand in illustrator cs6 and make it a vector image. The magic wand doesn't seem to do anything in illustrator. I did it in Photoshop and saved it as a PNG with trnsprnt background opened it up in illustrator and it was all jagged. It is such a simple image, only two colors, blue on white.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a PNG image with only one layer as a start point. It has a faded map on it.
I have a second PNG image with a hex grid on it. I do colour to Alpha to establish transparency on the hex grid for white filled hexes (others are not filled with white).
Now, I wish to overlay a portion of the first image with the faded map with the non-transparent part of the second image.
So I select by colour (for the hexes not filled with white) on the second image (the overlay) and I then paste to the first image (after creating a transparency layer and selecting it to receive the overlay).
I see the desired overlay section (minus any transparent stuff as expected), however it is centered over the map in the first image, not where I want it to be. It is a floating selection and must be anchored. So I select the anchor icon in the layer dialog and I think I anchor it into the transparency layer on the first image (that's what I'm trying to do anyway).
And then my problem:
I want to move the thing I just pasted in to the right place with respect to the underlying faded map. I attempt to use the move tool, but all I move is the background map (pretty much the opposite of what I want).
Nothing I do seems to let me reselect the pasted-in overlay so that I can move it.
Why I can't ever reposition the pasted in overlay? It should be in the transparency layer I created but even if I select all, I don't seem to be able to move anything other than the background image.
I was just wondering as to whether its possible to keep the checkered base which you get when you remove part of an image or have it transparent to stay in the created image.
I am sure you all know this.
Here is the YouTube background which I have created and wondering if I am able to keep the checkered base or whatever in the image after I have saved it rather than print screening and pasting it back like a jigsaw puzzle.

Upon doing this I seem to have lost the ability to copy/cut an image or part thereof from one open image into another... Example:
I have an image window open with a picture a car and I have an image window open with a race track back ground.
I want to copy the car from image 1 into image 2, but for some reason I cannot do this function anymore. When attempting it, once the item is copies to the clipboard and I then swap to the second image, when I paste as a new layer it pastes the clipboard from that image and not the image from the first window...
I have a figure as below:
You can see that the red circles intersect the blue one twice each. One of these intersects (the lower one) should be below the blue circle while the other should be above the blue circle. How can I make this happen? Can I use the shape builder tool somehow?
I'm currently trying to use one photo as back ground and then use part of a second photo as a layer over the top of the first pic (as the background). Can't seem to get it to work at all! Hard as the part of the 2nd pic is a lion which needs cutting round.

I am going to attach an image so that I can illustratate what I am trying to achieve here..
You should see a white hose like object against a gray background. I cannot show the whole image, let's just say that above and below it, it gets complicated, meaning not just a plain gray background and the hose isn't all that straight.
I do have the white part as a path, but what I am looking to do is to thin the white part. I can assume you can't go wrong with the clone tool, but I was wondering if there was something better as I do not have a steady hand with the mouse and I do have a few of these images on hand to edit.
I'll post up the part of the image , within the image there is a Picture frame and im just looking to remove it so that it looks like a clear wall.
Its the picture frame above the guys shoulder, ill post up the full image.
I'm having a hard time figuring out how to deselect part of an image. When I use the magic wand to select the white background it includes part of the thumb nail. How do I deselect the white part of the thumb nail so I don't remove it with the background?

But then i realised that the image i pasted was a few pixels off. I have been trying to select a portion of the image and move it to where i want it but cant find how. Ive selected the portion and clicked on move then selection but it moves the selection area not the image within it.

I tried Properties but it gave me the dimensions for the entire image.
And I have no copy of the deleted portion to check its size because I enlarged it when I placed it originally in the entire image and didn't save it separately.

In both versions i have an issue with ACR.More often than not, when processing a raw file, if i apply any noise reduction (ie move the luminance amount slider from 0) the zoom stops functioning preventing me zooming in or out. Some times this is acompanied by the image "stuttering" if i move the image around the screen to look at a different part.
When i open an image in ACR and convert to tiff in PS the first time i use the program all is well, but if i then go back to ACR and open another image i often find that the ACR screen comes up minus the actual image. The window which should contain the image shows PS underneath. Im currently using windows 7. I often get an error message when trying to open a raw file stating "not enough RAM". Is the ram (or lack of) responsible for all of these issues?
I have been mocking up an image on Photoshop, the final image basically consists of a variation of placed images. Whenever I zoomed in, one small part of the image wouldn't load properly and instead be pixelated. Usually it would go away once I either zoomed in or out a step further. But now it has just remained there and I have a pixelated strip that won't go away.
I'm not too sure why this may have occurred? This is a small screenshot of the strip:
I imported a vector image into an existing file. Then I ungrouped the imported image and changed the colors. Now I can want to shift the position and copy the imported image into another design.
Unfortunately when I click on it the image is still broken apart so it selects only the areas the cursor lands on...how do I group it back together so I can move the position of the entire image and copy it into another design?
I have been wondering how do I isolate the main part of the image to be able to cut it? I know I can obviosly lasso it..but is there a shortcut? or an action that could be used?

So then i try to use a gradient to fill in behind what i cut out, and instead the gradient fills in what i cut out. How do i make it fill in behind the cut out instead of inside?
