AutoCAD Inventor :: How To Link Part Feature In One Part To Another
Jun 21, 2012Very new to inventor 2012 coming form solid edge way back in the day (1998 to 2008) to autocad 2d. getting ready to move to the inventor and trying to figure out some things. searched videos , training etc but not even sure what to call it.
My questions are:
1. I design stamping dies and I will want to build sections from a stock strip with the outside then adding hole, dowels etc. what is the best work flow for this? It is kinda the middle between top down and bottom up.
2. what is the best work flow for adding counter bore , dowel in the block and then having this tied to the mating block so if I move the location of the holes in the block then move as well?

1. Part first is a cylinder in parametric table i changed it,s name OD , ID and thk. ( find attachment )
Cylinder ID is ( ID=105)
2. Then i made 2 nd part whose step od ( od=102) is going to insert in to cylinder id.There is 3 mm clerance every time
3. So i have to make equction in 2 nd part that ( Step OD= ( ID-3).
means next time when i will change ID of cylinder OD of 2 nd part will ger changed automatically minus by 3 mm than id of cylinder.
AutoCAD Inventor :: Unresolved Link To Deleted Part
May 31, 2011I was recently updating an assembly which contained a part that had been subsequently deleted from my folders. I skipped it while opening the assembly, then deleted the part in the Model Tree (and replaced it with a different component). So, to summarize, the assembly no longer has the part in the Tree, and the part does not exist anymore on my system. These parts and assemblies have not been Vaulted, so that should not be an issue either.
My problem is that every time I open the assembly, it wants me to resolve this deleted part, and I have to skip it every time just to proceed. Once the file is loaded, I get no other issues, no "red cross" items, just a question mark next to the file name at the top of the Tree indicating that the file needs to be resolved.
The old part is gone; I tried recreating it using the same file name, and using the same third-party SAT file from which it was originally generated, but Inventor detects that it's not the original part and won't accept it.
How to get past this "part resolution" issue?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Changing Derived Part Link
Jan 26, 2011Is it possible to change the derived part link to another part like you would replace a component in an assembly? My issue is that i created a part and used a derived part within. Well this part number changed and it just so happens that the derived part needs to change as well. I tried the design assistant, and changed the link there but it didnt seem to want to take. I tried renaming the derived part, and opening the file...i get the error but i still am unable to change the link that way either.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Change Frame Link To Normal Part
Feb 27, 2012I have several frames built by Frame Generator in project.
Than one frame has been diminished much while design so I use just several frame links just like parts without skeleton.
Those frame links I have renamed since I have several copies and I would like to have unique name. Now when I start the assembly consisting those links Inventor naturally inquires about missing files.
I show to renamed one and everything works ok except when I start the file again it asks again nevertheless file has been saved. Inventor still remember this frame link names as it used to be in browser and does not accept replacement.

I wish I must not rebuild those parts from scratch again. Therefore I have two questions
Is it possible to save this frame part as normal part (save as does not do it) ?
Is there some other way to get rid of Frame Generator status of some part built by Frame Gen?

Nov 5, 2013I've made a template file which includes several linked files (logo's in different shapes).
I've made a map and within that map the template file (.pdf) and 3 linked logofiles (.eps files)
I thought when I copy all 4 in a new map (for a new customer) and changed the 3 linked logofiles and then opened the newly copied template file in Illustrator...
that the template file would include the new logo's. But the links still point to the origial 3 logo files.
Is there a way to link the files within the map where the template file is??

Apr 4, 2012I have a PNG image with only one layer as a start point. It has a faded map on it.
I have a second PNG image with a hex grid on it. I do colour to Alpha to establish transparency on the hex grid for white filled hexes (others are not filled with white).
Now, I wish to overlay a portion of the first image with the faded map with the non-transparent part of the second image.
So I select by colour (for the hexes not filled with white) on the second image (the overlay) and I then paste to the first image (after creating a transparency layer and selecting it to receive the overlay).
I see the desired overlay section (minus any transparent stuff as expected), however it is centered over the map in the first image, not where I want it to be. It is a floating selection and must be anchored. So I select the anchor icon in the layer dialog and I think I anchor it into the transparency layer on the first image (that's what I'm trying to do anyway).
And then my problem:
I want to move the thing I just pasted in to the right place with respect to the underlying faded map. I attempt to use the move tool, but all I move is the background map (pretty much the opposite of what I want).
Nothing I do seems to let me reselect the pasted-in overlay so that I can move it.
Why I can't ever reposition the pasted in overlay? It should be in the transparency layer I created but even if I select all, I don't seem to be able to move anything other than the background image.

I want to copy the car from image 1 into image 2, but for some reason I cannot do this function anymore. When attempting it, once the item is copies to the clipboard and I then swap to the second image, when I paste as a new layer it pastes the clipboard from that image and not the image from the first window...

Feb 12, 2013I placed a .psd image in Illustrator CS5 at 100% at 600ppi. My link information is telling me that it is at 600ppi. But when I do a 90degree rotation, my link information is now telling me that I have a picture resolution of 859ppi x 420ppi. Why is that? From what I know and learned, a resolution doesn't change except when we change the scaling of an image but not rotating it.
This made me wonder because when we receive files from customer with embed images, how can I know that this image wasn't rotated and that the link informations panel is giving me the right numbers?

Dec 26, 2011I'm messing around with tables and data links, practicing. I copied a range of cells in Excel, and did paste special to create a linked table.
Now I can delete the table object, but I cannot delete the link, cannot detach it.
When in Data Manager if I right click on the data link and click delete I get the error message "The data link is being used and cannot be deleted".
I have tried detaching, and the detach does not seem to take.
Now also, the table will not update from the source xls.
Win XP, AcadLT 2011, Office 2010. Using compatible setting for saving spreadsheet, for Office 2007 (not xlsx).
If I create a linked table by starting with the Table icon, choose "from a data link", choose the excel spreadsheet, etc., then I am able to later update the table from the spreadsheet, detach, delete the link, etc. But I can only delete the link if the table is not selected when I open the Data Link Manager.
But the one that was created following the directions from the Autocad video, with the copy, paste special, that link will not detach nor delete.
