Illustrator :: Distributing Objects Around A Circle
Jul 2, 2012I'm a beginner with Illustrator and I've got a problem with distributing objects around a circle in Illustrator cs6. What I'm trying to do is to have these acrhed lines (as per the top three curves you can see below) go around a circle, surrounding it (don't know if i explain myself good...). I was using both blend tool and rotate tool and it doesnt work for me the way I want it. All the time its sort of upside down at the bottom of the cirle and totaly twisted on the left and right...

Feb 23, 2014I've used the blend tool to create 10 circles going from smallest at the top > largest at the bottom. When I Align > Distribute evenly on the vertical axis - the circles aren't evenly spaced. I'm guessing ai is doing the math from the centerpoint? How can I get them distributed so that the space between each circle is the same. F- 10 px from the top of one circle to the bottom of the one above it.

Nov 19, 2012Quite often I need to measure shortest surface distance between two points (electrical tracking diatance) as in pic below. I can do it iteratively by taking a range of slices out of the part (2nd pic) and measuring the cut edge length but it's quite meticulous and time consuming.

AutoCad :: Rectangle - Find Out Longest One
Apr 16, 2012I have a rectangle that is 100 x 144 inches. I need to find out the longest rectangle that I can make from it.
So far, the longest and widest (widest?) that I've found is 147.75 x 30.9 inches. I must hold the 147.75 but I need it to be wider than 30.9 inches. What's the best way to do this?
Here's how I've been doing it:
I draw the block (100 x 144)
I make a circle with a radius of 147.75
I move the center of the circle in various places on the block and find the tangents of circle to block
I then make right angles and see what I've got
There must be a better way to do this.

Feb 16, 2014I do not know if this is something weird with Creative Cloud, but I use Illustrator A LOT to do art. Recently, I noticed that if I take a complex shape with angles and curves that I make with the pen tool, and I Ctrl+C, and Ctrl+F it will, like normal, stack the items directly on top of one another, or I can edit copy, and edit paste in place/ in front, etc. So, I have two of the same shape exactly on top of one another. For my example we change the bottom shape to a different color to make it show up when we scale it, and go up and transform the bottom shape bigger, by clicking transform, scale- lets say to 110%. My problem is now the items seem to be touching and overlapping in places on the edge. They seem to no longer have the same center spot aligned with one another, and I never moved either shape. i just scaled one. I just noticed this the other day, and like I said, I make pattern art in illustrator all the time. It doesn't happen if you do this with a circle or a square or a star, just strange shapes you create with the pen tool with lots of points.

Oct 17, 2012I am struggling to properly align text because the bounding boxes are not centered around the text. Therefore, when I try to align it with another object, it is off. I am using CS 6 and, generally, the point and type tool. it might be the type of font (that perhaps they are "bad" fonts) but it doesn't seem to matter which type of font I use. The bounding box always has extra space underneath the text, even when using a very standard font like Times New Roman.

Aug 22, 2013I am trying to create a circle where I can align a stroke to the outside of a path - however I need to be able to break the circle up into sections - once I do that - I cant align to outside anymore.
Aside from breaking the green section apart and aligning it manually by eye, is there no other way to do this? Perhaps by aligning all segments of the circle to another circle (one that hasnt been broken apart?)
Illustrator :: Aligning Objects Or Text Along A Curved Path
Aug 11, 2012I have a variable number of text lines I would like to arrange along the path of half a circle. I would like the text to look like each text-string is radiating from the circle (the path I have as half a circle).
I would like to do this in adobe illustrator
I would like the text to be evenly spaced along the path dependent on how many lines of text I have.
I have seen other discussions suggesting either the blend-tool or the brush-tool. But no luck. The blend-tool would make distorted shapes in between, and would twist and distort the text. The brush tool would make each text a little bit 'cone-shaped', and I would prefer having the text without such a 'cone-shape'.
I am attaching a picture that halfway shows my intentions. In this diagram I have started rotating the first 4-5 text-lines. I have more text-strings (just above the half-circle) that I also would like to include along the path the half-circle is indicating.
The final goal is to get each of these locality-names raditing from the tips in the little red tree.
Is it possible in illustrator to align the text along a path like this? It is almost similar to the normal align objects and distribute objects.
I am working on a Mac OSX 10.5 Adobe Illustrator CS3.

AutoCAD .NET :: Distributing DLL With VB Studio Express
Dec 6, 2011I finally have my first and only .Net version of a former VBA function running and I want to make it available to other users, but security is getting in the way. Copying the project even to a different location on the same local hard drive results in a security violation, let alone copying it to a network directory. I am using Visual Studio Express 2008 and cannot find the ClickOnce nor any Publish function written up on MDSN - do those tools only apply to exe style projects?
I did read about a work around of adding an allow remote flag to the AutoCAD configuration file, but that appears to be a massive security hole as it could (I think?) allow *any* malicious dll file to run.
Is distributing / publishing a dll project impossible with Express?

Photoshop :: Distributing Text Layers Evenly
Nov 20, 2003I have 5 text layers for the different sections (home, news, contact etc.) and I have them all aligned horizontally. I position the far left text layer where it needs to be, then the far right text layer where it needs to be, link all the text layers and hit 'Distribute Horizontal Centers' to have them fill out the space between evenly.

Mar 24, 2012I tried to create a rendering utilizing the IES file from a light fixture manufacturer and I can't seem to get the photometric web to distribute along the full length of the bulb. It looks like the light is being distributed from a point in the middle of the light fixture although it is a 4' T8 fluorescent bulb. In the light family Light Source Definition, I set the Emit from shape to be a line and set the Light Distribution to be Photometric Web and set the Emit From Line Length parameter to be 4'. The distribution of the light looks correct, but just only from a point.

Sure we can create nice video presentations but we want them to be able to nagivate the model freely. Is there any way to get the models into 3D PDF format?
The same issue arises with Civil 3D. Apparently it does not support output to 3D PDF. Do we have to purchase a driver for this?

Photoshop :: Aligning Layers
Oct 26, 2007I have just found out about layer masks wow they are powerful before this I was cutting people from one picture and pasting them into another
What I am trying to do is have me in the same picture twice as 2 different people I know you do this using a layer mask and then using the brushes as I said above
But when I open both images and drag one onto the other how do I line them up exactly the same so when I do use the brush tool and brush away both images match up exactly the same underneath
I am locking the camera down with a tripod and its kept in the same position for both shots but what i have noticed is if you do not line both images up exactly the same you have like a ghost effect if you know what i mean

Aug 13, 2009I was wondering when I align a layer to another layer, if there was a way to do it so that only one layer moves. I.e. in visio when you select your first object, that becomes the Master, and all other objects you click after this will all sync to the master, rather than what seems to happen to me in PS, i.e. both layers are moved a little. I'd like to be able to allow the first layer i click on to be static, and any other layres align to it only. can this be done?

Feb 11, 2011I'm making a model of a building over a AutoCAD plan and I’m having problems with snapping and aligning. After I import polylines from AutoCAD, the accuracy becomes a problem, I can’t align or snap anything accurately (as seen on the attached picture). It keeps snapping in midd-air and not in the endpoint/midpoint, align doesn’t work either (the boxes in the picture are all aligned, x-max and y-min). I should mention that the same (similar) problem accrues in AutoCAD and after purging and repairing the dwg and starting over in max, it got better, but is still there.

AutoCAD Map 3D :: Point Cloud Not Aligning?
Mar 8, 2011I can get my stylised map from Promap into Map3d 2011, and I have tried importing the point cloud data which I have as a esri ascii grid file, it is basically 3 columns of numbers:- for north, east and height.
Unfortunately when I choose to format as nez (when importing) it turns the whole lot round by 90degrees ...
I have tried importing it as enz but no joy, and also in niether case will it align with my map (have tried using coords and not using coords).
