Illustrator :: Aligning Stars Around A Circle?
Oct 4, 2012
I'm designing a 1.25" diameter lapel pin. Around the border of the pin I've created six stars. How can I get the stars to follow a .75 circular path so they all align properly? Rather than try to do something freehand, I suppose I could use a font with a star character in it and align the font to path.

I have a circle and a text as shown below. If i try to align the text and the cirlce, they are not aligning exactly. There is some difference in it as shown below in the first alignment. If i convert the text to outline and align, its perfect. Is there any way to align the text with circle exactly?

After processing images in Lightroom 5, I exported them as jpgs to another folder, which I intend to upload to a printer. However, the stars i used to rate the images appear in the upper left corner of the jpg. Why did this happen and how can I get rid of the visible stars?

I have made this planet and I want its ring to look as it's spinning around it, So the upper of the ring should go behind the actual planet! How can I do that? Also how can I add some volume to the ring to make it look a bit more realistic?

I need to create two art boards in my design document. They are off by a pixel and won't line up like some weird snap feature is on. I've checked and turned off all snap features. Still not lining up.

I do not know if this is something weird with Creative Cloud, but I use Illustrator A LOT to do art. Recently, I noticed that if I take a complex shape with angles and curves that I make with the pen tool, and I Ctrl+C, and Ctrl+F it will, like normal, stack the items directly on top of one another, or I can edit copy, and edit paste in place/ in front, etc. So, I have two of the same shape exactly on top of one another. For my example we change the bottom shape to a different color to make it show up when we scale it, and go up and transform the bottom shape bigger, by clicking transform, scale- lets say to 110%. My problem is now the items seem to be touching and overlapping in places on the edge. They seem to no longer have the same center spot aligned with one another, and I never moved either shape. i just scaled one. I just noticed this the other day, and like I said, I make pattern art in illustrator all the time. It doesn't happen if you do this with a circle or a square or a star, just strange shapes you create with the pen tool with lots of points.

I am struggling to properly align text because the bounding boxes are not centered around the text. Therefore, when I try to align it with another object, it is off. I am using CS 6 and, generally, the point and type tool. it might be the type of font (that perhaps they are "bad" fonts) but it doesn't seem to matter which type of font I use. The bounding box always has extra space underneath the text, even when using a very standard font like Times New Roman.

Having trouble making a perfect alignment, 90 degrees, 180 degrees etc. When object is duplicated and rotated it appears to be out of alignment with original. Is there a finer control for snapping to grid/object without having to use increments or perhaps adjusting them?

I am trying to create a circle where I can align a stroke to the outside of a path - however I need to be able to break the circle up into sections - once I do that - I cant align to outside anymore.
Aside from breaking the green section apart and aligning it manually by eye, is there no other way to do this? Perhaps by aligning all segments of the circle to another circle (one that hasnt been broken apart?)

I have a variable number of text lines I would like to arrange along the path of half a circle. I would like the text to look like each text-string is radiating from the circle (the path I have as half a circle).
I would like to do this in adobe illustrator
I would like the text to be evenly spaced along the path dependent on how many lines of text I have.
I have seen other discussions suggesting either the blend-tool or the brush-tool. But no luck. The blend-tool would make distorted shapes in between, and would twist and distort the text. The brush tool would make each text a little bit 'cone-shaped', and I would prefer having the text without such a 'cone-shape'.
I am attaching a picture that halfway shows my intentions. In this diagram I have started rotating the first 4-5 text-lines. I have more text-strings (just above the half-circle) that I also would like to include along the path the half-circle is indicating.
The final goal is to get each of these locality-names raditing from the tips in the little red tree.
Is it possible in illustrator to align the text along a path like this? It is almost similar to the normal align objects and distribute objects.
I am working on a Mac OSX 10.5 Adobe Illustrator CS3.

I was wondering when designing a logo I should worry about aligning my artwork to a pixel grid for use on the web. Should I maybe create the artwork as normal and then save another version that is aligned to pixel grid for web and send them both?

I would like to layer them in such a way that the orage circle below is put in front of the green circle. Essentially, I need to select only the part of the orange circle and bring it to the front while leaving the other part of the circle alone. Can this be done in Illustrator?
In summary, this is what I am trying to accomplish: Green over blueBlue over yellowYellow over orangeOrange over Green
Also, is there a way to use a tool inside of illustrator to arrange the locations so they are all 100% perfectly alligned and meeting in the middle without "eyeballing" it?

It has been quite a while since I have posted. And in that period, my Photoshop skills have improved greatly. I am still learning a few new techniques and I just started working on brushing. There is a certain technique that I see quite often and would love to learn how to do. I'll post a few examples so you guys can see the effect that I am leaning towards.

I am fairly new to PDN. I was wondering how to do a border similar to the attached picture. I'd like to use stars. I have tried to use custom mini brushes but, I don't want to paint over the picture, I want to cut out of it, like the attached picture. Is there a way to do this in PDN?

I would like to Photoshop a really cheesy message on a picture (something like "Believe In Yourself!"). Then I would like to have the message and the stars in 3D (like they are coming toward you). Also, I was hoping to use cheesy rainbow colors!

Whenever I click to add text to this path, it starts the text at a different point on the path instead of directly where I clicked. If you can see it, towards the left side of the circle where it says "path" in green. Thats where I clicked, but as you can see the actual text would start a little further on the right side
How can I change this...Also I will add. Once I do type my text it is no longer selectable. After typing I switch up to my direct select tool, and as I hover over the text nothing happens. I cant select it, I can only select the blue bars on the sides of it. I want to be able to select my text also. Shouldnt the blue bars be at the end and the beginning of the text, not so far away from it

I've been looking for an easy way to make text round a circle go outward, like in this picture: [URL] It would be best if the text on the right side would go inward actually, but this would be a start.
Is there an easy way in Illustrator to do this in which I can also add text afterwards?

First off, I'm designing a 24" x 36", 150 dpi poster. There is a part in the poster where I want to create the illusion of space and stars. Easy enough, just make a new layer, fill it black, add a Levels adjustment layer, tweak the black and white sliders, and voila, stars....
