AutoCAD .NET :: Aligning Object By Points
Jan 2, 2013Is it possible to align object by 2/3 point using .net? Its easy to do with autocad, but I can't find a way to do it using .NET.

View 6 RepliesI have come up with a parabolic curve from a 'Sag Chart' program for calculating wire sag between Utility Poles. I now need to place this curve into my Profile that has the poles laid out in it. I need to make the curve Tangent at each attachment point between two poles. The best I can do as of now is eyeball it in there which will get me the sag distance pretty closly but as any Autocad user knows if it isnt exactly aligned it will drive you nuts. I made a rough sketch of what im trying to do.
View 9 Replies View RelatedTrying CS6 for the first time and noticed that I'm having trouble aligning 2 anchor points in a vector shape. For some reason, no matter how much I zoom in, the anchor "snaps" where I don't want it to, which wouldn't be so bad if the anchor I'm trying to align with it snapped at the same place, but it doesn't.
I tried checking/unchecking "align edges" and "constrain path dragging", but neither has any effect on the problem.
1. find the attached “Rays on Oval.png” file. (Tried attaching .cdr file but the File Size is 400KB.)
2. I would like to Repeat / Duplicate that Black Color on Outer Path of Oval Shape. (Like shown in the Yellow versus Black. The Yellow is a Circle and the Black is from Star Tool)
3. I think the Best Bet would be to Link the Rays to the Outer Path of Oval Shape.
4. I need the Rays and Oval as 2 Different Objects so that I could Change the Color Scheme.
Having trouble making a perfect alignment, 90 degrees, 180 degrees etc. When object is duplicated and rotated it appears to be out of alignment with original. Is there a finer control for snapping to grid/object without having to use increments or perhaps adjusting them?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to control which is the dominant object when aligning? Or, to establish to which object the others align? Like in CorelDraw. It seems quite arbitrary: some times all the objects move but on occasion only one moves. I can' see any system to apply.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI wish to align a text like this at an oval shape. The field of the text body does align at all - which I can understand. Using the grafic text, it aligns directly on/ over the outline of the oval shape. But I won't have the whole text in a round - I just want to have the paragraph's left side to be aligned/ positioned at the outer shape of the oval.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to layer them in such a way that the orage circle below is put in front of the green circle. Essentially, I need to select only the part of the orange circle and bring it to the front while leaving the other part of the circle alone. Can this be done in Illustrator?
In summary, this is what I am trying to accomplish: Green over blueBlue over yellowYellow over orangeOrange over Green
Also, is there a way to use a tool inside of illustrator to arrange the locations so they are all 100% perfectly alligned and meeting in the middle without "eyeballing" it?
Using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013, now installing Service Pack 1 (kept crashing, this time it's working though), and I'm trying to find the area of a pathway that I've drawn in 2D with standard lines. Using the area tool, I want to find the area of the path, but it arcs around a 180 degree corner. I tried getting a rough estimate of the area by clicking at several points along each of the arcs, but after clicking a point where the arc joins the straight line of the straight section of the path, it literally won't let me click the next point. I can, however, specify the next point as long as it's nowher near the arc. Same goes for the polyline tool.
Just got an error code for the Service Pack installation, too. "A problem prevented the service pack from being installed, contact your administrator. Error 1603"
In my application, users will insert predefined blocks which have simple shapes like rectangle, square or circle.
Users will connect some polyline or lines to the blocks inserted. My task is that blocks must have snap points only on their center so that the polylines must be connected to the block center point not to other points such that midpoints, end points of the edges.
I wonder if there is a way to override snap points of the blocks while other entities' snap points do not change.
I know you can use map-transform tool (I think it is a poor tool...)
I need to adjust old data (image scannings, a pdf I have received, a drawing somebody gives me , etc)
I'd like to have a dialog box to adding points (original and destination) and have the oportunitiy to review the scale, the moving data, the weight on transform for evry point, a way to include/exclude .....
I imagined that civil 3d should have this....
Have I to search again a lisp tool ?
I'm not finding where to change the default Description for Creating Cogo points by the Create Points-Alignments>At Alignment Geometry method
The last characters PC, PT RP etc. seem to be controlled by the Drawing Settings>Abbreviations but the Alignment name and stationing is what I'd like to eliminate from the description if possible.
Almost seems hard coded but hopefully I've been looking in the wrong places.
The descriptions are coming in like the caption whether I select Raw or Full description option.
In command settings for Point>Create Points>Points Creation>Prompt for descriptions>Automatic - Object is what I'm using.
What I'm hoping to accomplish is just PC, PT RP etc for description without the find / replace edits I'm currently doing in the exported ascii files.

How to go about creating a surface, region or 3D object using non-coplanar points? I'm drawing a few different 3D models for an artist friend of mine to use in her proposal on a local public art project.
However for this version I am bottlenecking on how to create these regions. I have vertical(ish) beams of varying height twisting in different directions with sheets of alternating metals welded in-between, the bottoms line up straight with the tops following an S curve but with the twisting geometry the top two endpoints for each will always be in separate planes.

One of the CAD engineer in my office is facing with a new problem. Until two days back she was able to use the "mid between two points" object snap. But recently it dissappeared from the shift+right click short cut menu. method to bring it back to the shortcut menu?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a bunch of points that I am trying to turn into a solid object. I am doing this by using the 3D poly command and then LOFT, UNION and CONVTOSOLID. this has previously worked well, but this time when I use the LOFT command it does not produce a 'closed' surface, but rather a grid like surface which wont convert to a solid. Are there different settings for the LOFT command, and if so, How do I change them to produce a closed surface?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI upgraded to CS6 (v16) from CS5 and am having trouble with one feature so far. In CS5 I could create objects and move them around the artboard with an indicator that would come up to show me where I wasplacing it. For example a light green indicator would show if the object is centred (with the text 'centred' also visible) or a line extending from this point to the object to indicate how far away it was. Illustrator would also do this for the relative position to other objects as well as the edges of the artboard which made aligning things very easy.
These indicators have disappeared in CS6 and I can't seem to get them back even when using different align options. How can I get this to return in my copy of Illustrator CS6?
Is there a way to select either vertices on a polygon or points on a curve and create an object at those points?
The snapping of objects to curve points isn't very accurate, so if possible, the above would greatly speed up my workflow.
Can you move an object while using another object's snap points?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got several objects that require multiple Pivot Points per object or per Group of Objects.
As close as I've come to solving this was a local movement wire parameter effecting local pivot of another object, however, it pivots the wrong direction (clockwise instead of counter clockwise)
It would be nice to just be able to apply a secondary pivot point for an object natively in 3ds max.
I've read, you can do this with IK solver and a pin constraint. However, I'm using 2012 and I do not see pin constraint in my options.
what does it depends that how many control points are on an object in Designer Pro as default?
For example in Shape Tool creating a horizontal line (click and somewhere beside CTRL - click), at me it creates control points at the end of the lines plus two ones on the line.
That is super anyway because immediately can be seen where is the 33% of the line length, but could be set somehow this that how many control point should be as default?
I'm trying to move specific anchor points on a path a few pixels up from their current position, while keeping everything else where it is, so it'll transform the figure's shape. I'm trying to do it precise by changing it's dimensions, rather than clicking and dragging. does- work when I direct select the points I want and drag them. Problems with that:
1) I have very little control. If I want the point moved up by whole pixels, I pretty much have to get lucky because it's always in decimal points.
2) With shapes bordering each other (parts of a complex shape), if I want to move their location to scrunch something (Half circle in a larger half circle, wanting to flatten out the base), if I lift those points up, they leave a gap. As if the top border of the outer circle has another anchor point under the lower of the one above that, and I can't click on it to move everything while they're still touching. I can take screenshots if needed. I'm following a tutorial to get used to the program.
Alternately, I suppose if you have a shortcut for constraining the drag to whole pixels instead of fractions, that's great too. In Photoshop and the like, holding Shift would give me precision, but that's not the case in this tool or perhaps program.
I had to create a boundary map and place points to all corners. How to export these newly created points back into my data collector (Ranger) and also I'm trying to figure out how to print out a points list.
I stumbled on to this thread but I guessing that it's a different CAD year because my modify tab doesn't look like this. URL.....
I have a large surface (over 1.5 million points and 20 000hectares)
I need to get a point file .csv from the TIN to be able to use it in another program.
-so i've extracted the points from my surface, but they are Autocad points.
-next step is to convert them to civil 3d points.
-I can not select them all when converting them or my computer crashes.
-so i select about 25 000 at a time, the converting takes roughly 10 minutes.
and i have over 1.5 million points to do.
how can i speed this up.
will more ram useful?
there is a way to convert land desktop aecc points to cogo points and use the full description?
I do not have access to the ldt files nor to the Descriprion keys file. It would be nice if there was an option to preserve full descriptions when converting (that would be just too simple).
I have recieved a file with many points and would like to convert them into COGO points in Civil 3D. The problem is; I would like to keep the hole ID's as I convert, I've made a few conversions and lose the hole ID every time (not showing in Name or Description). Is there a seting I am missing to keep these? My aim to to organize the COGO points in different point groups.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a project that was started by leaving all the survey data inside the "All Points" group. So, I'm concerned that when I enter my as built survey points, that even if I put them into their own group, that the original surface will still look at them and just rebuild to my asbuilt data, effectively cancel out the purpose of the asbuilt survey. Will this happen?
I want to take the original points and put them into a group of their own, but I don't know if that will affect anything or not? I have several wetlands already designed on that surface with volume calcs already done too.
What should I do?
