Somehow I've managed to disable a feature in Illustrator CS6 that does two things: 1) it causes a small box to follow the cursor when I'm drawing an object 2) the light green lines or x's are gone now, too. How can I get them back? Are they only visible under certain circumstances?

How does one remedy this Adobe error message? "Can't scale the objects. The requested transformation would make some objects too small to use." This one always gets me. I'll spend more time trying to find the object in question. This has happened in almost al versions, but this time it's CS5.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am running Illustrator CS6, and I have found that Illustrator lags a lot when I have multiple objects that are very small. For example, for my school project I am creating four seasons, and I have multiple leaves on the trees, but since they are very small and I have multiple copies it slows Illustrator down siginificantly. What I am trying to figure out is if there is a way to reduce the quality of the artwork, so that It can run fast when I need it to. Below is a link to download the file, so you can see what I mean. Right now it lags when you zoom In/Out or if you try and move the object. Also, my computer Specs are listed below

I am running Photoshop CS6. There is a "widget" that follows my cursor around when using certain tools . This was not present when I was using CS5. It's a little black box with coordinates inside of it that follows my cursor around.

I can't seem to move objects in my drawing small distances..I'm used to being able to do this..must be some setting I hit, but I can't find which one it might be. I have snap to off, but this isn't behaving like snap to..it's behaving like I'm only "allowed" to move objects certain distances; any smaller and the object simply doesn't move at all..
removal of small objects in a drawing. I made with ArcGIS a map of the Netherlands. Because it is a detailed map, it also becomes heavy and my computer slows down. I merged some smll elements together with the pathfinder-unite command, but it is still to heavy. So I have to delete some other elements. The problem is that I want to get rid of all the small objects, but I dont know how to select them. It is a topograpic map with for example houses, lamp post et cetera, but I actuallly need only the build areas.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIllustrator has the 'Transform Each' dialog, but it only allows you to scale multiple objects by specifying a percentage. Is there any way to specify the size in pixels? More specifically, imagine I have 10 rectangles on my canvas, and I want them all to be of a specific height. The rectangle position on the canvas matters, so I can't do the 'vertical align to top and then resize group height' trick - they need to be resized in place.

I don't see an option anywhere in preferences, nor is there an option to hide these labels in the View menu.
I have a problem. I'm making a videogame with a videogame-making program, and I can import my videogame characters from computer images. One example is the Forest Imp monster:
PROBLEM is.. there's an invisible (because it's white) border of pixels around this monster. If you want to see it, go ahead and open the above png in Photoshop and use the Paint Bucket Tool to fill in the background, but make sure Anti-Aliased is OFF. See all the white pixels around the monster? Those show up in the videogame: ....

View 38 Replies View RelatedI am currently selecting 10 objects from a picture and then I delete the background. This leaves just the 10 objects of interest in the image.
I have hundreds of these images and would like to compare the number of pixels or diameter of the objects across the images for each of the 10 objects. Is there a way I can automate Photoshop to go through a directory of images and measure the pixels of each of the 10 objects, and then export those measurements to a file?

I use GIMP 2.6.8 - when I switch to "path" tool or to "free select tool" mouse pointer is allowed to set vertices of the path or selection on non-integer coordinates (i.e. at x=13.5 and y=26.8 pixels)
How can I disable this feature and make mouse pointer (or vertex) snap to pixel boundary (or even to grid). I want it to be able to create paths / selections more accurately sometimes.
(or could I at least enter coordinates for each next vertex manually)
I was wondering if you could draw a motion path for objects to follow. I have multiple objects(12) that all need to follow on the same path. Do I have to animate all of them individually, or can I draw a path? These objects are NOT masks. They are text imported from Illustrator(CS6).

On creating or moving any objects I have artifacts like this:
They drawing to the right of the cursor till I hold mouse button. After release button they mostly disappeared.
Is there an easy way to create bleeds and trim marks for multiple objects on the same page?
For instance, I have a playing card that I've tiled across the page 6 times ( so that I can create 6 cards out of 1 page ). Each card needs it's own bleed/trim marks.
I'd also like to have printer registration marks for the page, as I have to print the card backings on another page and then glue the two pages together.
The only way I've found that I can do this is to manually create the trim marks for each object's bleed and just have them all within 1 artboard.
I tried doing it with multiple artboards within one larger artboard, but couldn't get that to work.
Is this something that just needs to be manually done?
I am trying to use the selection tool or the direct selection tool to create a rectangular marquee somewhere within the boundaries of an illustration.
I want to select only those objects that are fully or partially within that marquee.
I can use the lasso to select objects in this way. But if I try to use the selection or direct selection tool, it selects and moves the first object I touch.
I can use the selection tools and begin from outside the image area and create a rectangular marquee of selected objects. But I can't do this if I begin within the image.
when i make my brush size very small (to the point that its only like 4pixels dot on the screen), a crosshair symbol automatically appears around it which makes it hard to see the cursor's surroundings when working on small details without zooming in alot (which would make a 4px cursor appear bigger thus losing the crosshair again). I guess this feature is there for people that might have trouble locating small cursors, but on a large tablet that allows very fast work without having to zoom in much, this makes things harder. Is there a way to disable this or modify some files or "hack" the cursor icons somehow and delete it?
(Tried all possible combinations of the PS prefferences but none of it seemed to be related to the cursor becoming a crosshair once the brush size gets very small relative to screenresolution)
I'm missing transform handles and unable to edit objects or text boxes in Illustrator CC. How do I fix this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm extremely new to scripting; I managed to create a script to extend the artboard of my documents (which I was extremely proud of given my inexperience!) and another to align a couple of objects alongside each other, but my attempts to script some new code has met with failure.
Firstly, I need some Illustrator CS4 Javascript code that will create a bounding rectangle for the selected object(s). The selected object(s) will always be rectangular; no irregularly-shaped objects. I know this should be simple, but I can't work out the variables/attributes involved.
Secondly, some code to select the leftmost object in a document. And the equivalent for the rightmost object.
If it makes any difference, I'll be stitching these scripts together with an action to achieve the following workflow.
Two EPS files are dragged into an empty document as 'Linked Files'.The two Linked Files are aligned alongside each other. (Using a script I've already written.)The leftmost Linked File is selected and has a bounding rectangle created, which is then used to mask the Linked Object.The rightmost Linked File is then selected and has a bounding rectangle created, which is then used to mask the Linked Object.Both masked Linked Files are selected, and a bounding rectangle is created to mask them into the same Clipping Mask group.The artboard is set to the dimensions of this combined masked pair (I've managed to write that script already).The Linked Files are embedded into the document.
The reason for this is because we have EPS map files exported from AutoCAD that are left- and right-hand pages. These need to be combined into one file, but when they are brought in they lose their masks as the BBOX element is not recognised by Illustrator. The double-masking in my process above is needed to ensure that content from either map doesn't overlap the other half of the map.
In some CS6 PSD documents (but not all), when I Select All (no feather) and then Copy, the result in the clipboard is one pixel smaller in height than the original—the bottom row is missing. This is verified by pasting, selecting the layer's contents, and reading the Info window, or by starting a new document which defaults to the clipboard image's size. One pixel too small. In addition, when I paste on top of the original (which usually my intention) you can see everything shift up by one pixel. (Showing that the image has been cropped at the bottom, rather than scaled.)
I am viewing everything at 100%.
Any guideline as to when this bug does or does not happen? I can't find a pattern--maybe it's any Copy that can fail and not just Select All? It seems like it may happen on a previously-scaled document (which I know messes up the text tool semi-permanently). But I hate having to go through the extra step of double-checking the dimensions of every single copy and paste. I'm really trying to get somewhere near my old CS3 productivity, but it's a struggle with all the new bugs!
(This is different from the bug where rectanbgular selections loose one pixel of vertical when you release the mouse button at 100% zoom, although it does sound related. That longstanding bug happens 100% of the time, but at least you can see in the Info box that it has happened—one more constant act of double-checking that PS6 work seems to need. Whereas in this bug, the Info window shows the correct full size of the document after you Select All—but when you Copy, the result has lost data.)
I see now that in the same document, something similar also happens when I simply flatten the document: a single-pixel row turns white... but at the top.
Flattened/background layers seem to be immune from the copy/paste height loss, so I thought I'd just flatten the image I want to copy... but the flatten itself loses data.
When using the scale or move commands the 3D axis labels are gone and all that I'm left with is the 2D move arrows. How can I bring them back?

I'm working with objects big from 10 to 100 centimeters. When i use ctrl+alt+mmb to zoom, or the magnifying glass, it's too sensitive and hard to zoom in/out. How to solve this?

For example, I have a circle that I want in a certain position but I can not move it there with my mouse. Instead it insists on moving 18,9 pixels in any given direction whenever I'm moving it with my mouse. To get a specific position I have to enter its position manually.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have drawn a vector shape and want to apply 4 colours to it. I have drawn 4 squares with the colours I want and then merged the layers so it becomes 1. I then "selected the pixels" on my shape and cut out that shape from the 4 squares of colour i created. However, when I resize my shape, it blurs as it is not vector anymore.
Is there a way to do acheive the above but keep the shape a vector?
