I have tried the offset path, however it gets too large. I am looking to keep things simple but need a bit more definition that just a simple outline will give. On this particular image I am looking to create an outline or fill shape behind the words and pistol but wanting to keep roughly the same shape.

I want to take a bitmap, live trace it, then create an outline of 2px wide only around the outside limits of the shape. I want to then get rid of all of the live trace vectors and be left with my very simple outline of the original image. Eg.
I've tried image expand, I've tried outline, but nothing seems to work as I need it to.
In the link below you will find a jpeg of a sew on patch, then a pdf of just the logo. I am wanting to learn how to create the outline look of the patch around the group of objects that form the logo. I have tried the appearance, outline trick but for thsi project it does not even come close. [URL]

next stage when i send to winplot and send to cutter it seems to cut numerous lines within the vinyl...What im want i just one line around the whole text following the profile of the main text.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm working with CorelDraw X3 and want to fill text into a round shape, while keeping it's exact outline. Hence, cutting of parts of words and letters is fine with me as long as the shape is well-defined. Unfortunately when filling paragraph text into a shape, the automatic line breaks lead to a quite irregular shape regardless of font size.
As workaround I arranged a mask in front of background and text but this requires a square paragraph text which is larger than the background. Since paragraph text obviously cannot be cropped with other objects I made the mask size bigger and filled it white. When exporting my document as image everything looks neat, but there must be a better way to do this in CorelDraw itself?
I tried converting the paragraph text into artistic text and cropping this, which works fine for a few words and a small object. But I'm talking around 1000 words here, and trying to crop this artistic text leads to very random cropping results. I guess such a large number of objects and knots is too much for CorelDraw to handle!?
I'm creating navigational elements in photoshop and I want to be able to adjust the outline by itself, as well as there are some elements that are only an outline with no fill. How do I create shape outlines without the fill?

well i have been trying to get this to turn out but cannot.
i have used the search quite a few time today but no luck.
i need an outline of a fire, i dont need color or much detail.
I have been playing around a bit - and think the answer lives somewhere in compound paths, but can't quite get it right.
In the example below, I essentially want the anter to cut out it's outline shape into the axe. Same with the shield over everything.
This is essentially so I can place the logo over all sorts of backgrounds, without having to have a white outline on it.
The oject below has an unwanted small yellow shape on its edge.
Not sure why it is there as an identicle object within the same project doesn't have it!
How can I connect them again so they are one?
Whilst I am doing this is it also possible to connect the other yellow areas in this image so I can recolor them all together whilst testing colors?
I tried using the: Shift+Select all object>Ctrl Click>Group (& tried "Join" also) but doesnt seem to connect them!
i created three circles which overlap at certain points, and each of the spaces is filled in with a different color. i need to hide the thin, black outline of the circles. i have made sure that there is no stroke, but it's still there.

I would like to create a wavy line (the zigzag feature is not exactly what I need here) to outline a shape and then fill it with a solid color.
This is approx what I want; however the undulation needs to be more round and less peaked.
I have recived an illustrator file which ontains some text and I have to update the labels on the file but it seems the text has been chnged to Outlines Path. how i can convert them to regular editable text type?
View 4 Replies View RelatedAlright I am trying to create a shape made up of tons of instances of a symbol (best example of what I am trying to achieve is here )
I hoped I could just use draw inside mode and the symbol sprayer however I am not able to ensure the instances don't colide and that they actually completely fit inside the shape without being cut off.
I am obviously going about this the wrong way but have searched for unsuccessfully for any instruction on how this could be achieved.
Just doing my normal practise in Illustrator. Ive came across designing a dome sphere shape. And Im using the 3d revolve techniqe, So I have my symbol to map onto the 3d elipse. but towards the top of the sphere the symbol tends to get distorted, and it looks aweful. So I also tried another technique to envolope distort with top object but its hard to achieve making it look 3d, because the sphere faces dont go around.

View 9 Replies View RelatedAs seen in the attached image, I want the red arc shape to cut out from the green logo it is sitting on top of, while also having the red arc dissappear and reveal the transparent bg. I have tried a bunch of different ways that I have read from these forums but none of them seem to work. Obviously I'm missing something. The green shield logo is made of multiple objects. The closest I got was the arc shape cut out from some of the objects of the green logo, but not all of them, and the arc shape didn't cut out as an arc, but rather as the original rectangle. The arc is created with a regular rectangle with arc effect.

I would like to select objects inside a shape based on the shape.
As you can see here i would like to select all the objects inside the blue circle, and delete everything outside of it. I dont want to use a cliping mask as it does not really destory the objects outside the circle.
so I came up with this script, and it worked fine until I tried it on a different file. I have moved the artboard around all over the "main" canvas (if that is what it is called) and on the one that it works on, seems to only work when artboard(top, left) is positive values. however on the new file it doesn't seem to matter where it is on the artboard, it wont work anywhere. it should find the textpath relative to the shapes position.
I thought it was the coordinateSystem, but that doesn't seem to fix it. How the canvas works (maybe the math.abs();

I have a shape that I want to add a blend layer to by creating a square, adding a gradient then making it an overlay on top of said shape. The issue I am having is I cant find a way of masking out the unwanted areas of the blend layer. I have tried to follow the steps the official help and other internet help sections but it's not working. It's so easy in photoshop. How come it's so difficult in Illustrator? Is there something I am missing? Additionally, a blend layer (in most modes) wouldn't show any colour if overlaying upon white in photoshop. How come this isn't so in Illustrator?

I'm looking to have the white knockout to the background color. it's a black text in the center, a (what should be) knockout outline of that black text and then another black outline outside of that.how to set it up, order and arrange the text so I can simply keep the look of the white knocking out to the shirt color.
For text i can easily use TYPE / Create Outlines
but what about Create Path Around Object or PNG with Transparancy ?
i know about using Pen Tool and create Path , but it takes much time and my final work not perfect as i want
